Speedy deletion of J Dixon & sons[edit]

A tag has been placed on J Dixon & sons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. J Dixon & sons[edit]

I appreciate your taking the time to write to me regarding the article. I also commend your effort to make the article notable enough to be included, however I have some words of advice to offer:
1. As tempting as it might be, please do not remove any speedy deletion template (the {{db-corp}}) from an article you have created. If an administrator sees you doing this, you could be blocked. Simply just add the "hold on" immediately under it, and explain in the talk page.
2. Try not to create article without having at least one good reference included as it is created. This way, it saves the confusion of whether or not the author will still be working on it or not, and we can leave it as is.
3. If you are working on an article, I recommend using the {{underconstruction}} or {{inuse}} templates to let reviewers know not to tag it, as I have. It saves time and confusion as well.
4. (A minor issue) You only need to click the "signature" button once to produce a sufficient signature. When it says four times, it means that a single "~" needs to be typed four times, not four groups of four. Or just use the button, whichever you prefer. Well , Many thanks , it is difficult to do a new page from start to end when you are a beginner , I wrote from personal knowledge and research about the aspect of their whistle making , but I looked at google and there is much more to that company that i still do not know . from aircrafts to ammuntion to silver goods.as to advice ; 1 Pure mistake. 2 I will do my best. 3 I would have to learn ,I did few without because I did not know how to put a template. THANKS 4 I was wondering about it ,funny . Thanks again .P S Let me know where it stands now ,if you find time, and if some of the templates can be taken off. Whistle[edit]

Afraid I don't follow what you said on my talk page - the only edit I made last week was remove the bold tags around the company names in the body of the "whistle" article, as per Wikipedia style policy. Creating the articles and linking to them is fine, there's just no need to have the company names in bold in the middle of the "whistle" article.

I notice you've rewritten a lot of the "whistle" article since, and I've made some steps towards cleaning it up. I can recommend http://spellcheck.net if you'd like to pass major edits through a spell-checker before committing them. Welcome to Wikipedia! --McGeddon (talk) 11:52, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My appologies as to on my talk page I am afraid I may ment to write someone else who changed J Dixon to James Dixon. on a Page I did , editing the whistles I was not aware of the original research , thoughts ,guidlines of wiki, and needing many citations which are in my private collection, I did not touch the 9 whistle makers I wrote about, some has much original research as well but I think its o.k most was written and before ,see reference books & articles, Thannks for welcome and I would use your good advices in the future. --Avner Strauss (talk) 17:38, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spamming[edit]

Please stop adding advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:48, 7 March 2009 Hi Jamie, I am sorry if any external link seemed to upset you , I was surprised to see that in a page about toys there is no mention at all of Penny Toys which would certaily add, I thought of adding it on the page or as a seperate page ( See the book Penny Toys by David Pressland, New Cavendish books, london, I inniocently though I was contributing by addinfg a link and hopefully the page would grow to include penny toys. If there is any link you do not like please take it off , it is no spam, but wiki rules reccomended being daring, but I have no arguments , I ussualy listen to comment learn and delete my own additions if inapropriate, its part of learning process. so if you kindly be patiant with my short comings. and adit what you find correct, I do not think I would object . And for the time being I would avoid adding any external links what so ever,in order not to make mistakes . Kind regards --Avner Strauss (talk) 17:28, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article J Stevens & Son has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This appears to be solely a vehicle to drive traffic to whistlemuseum.com. Article was started by a user (Avner Strauss) whose main contributions have involved adding links to towhistlemuseum.com, a blog by someone with the same name. This is simply an article about a non-notable company.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
