Geographical coordinates reference[edit]

Can you help me? I'm planing on tagging about a dozen or so articles with geographical coordinates of buildings, and I was wondering, do I need to list a proper source for the data. Because I have the information but I don't know an easy way of referencing it. If it matters I'm using the "coord" template. Thanks --Awg1010 (talk) 05:41, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what folks do in most cases. I would suggest asking at Template talk:coord or the geocoding wikiproject. I usually don't cite mine, since they are derived from simply using one of the map applications to position the marker. -J JMesserly (talk) 17:31, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LEA infobox[edit]

Ta. You're going to have a hard time with the UK though! The infobox is written for countries where they only have "law enforcement agencies", but for some reason we've decided to stick with calling the British ones "police forces", so autocategorisation is very hard. I'm going to turn off autocat on MOD Police because is no longer has a clue. Also, if you feel like doing any territorial police forces, please copy the bespoke skeleton I wrote here - as there are some very specific requirements for UK forces. ninety:one 00:02, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry to bother you but the FAC people are being really anal and want supporting users to additionally state whether they believe the sources to be reliable because Ealdgyth left them to the editors' discretion (no idea why especially as I fulfilled his criteria). Greetings. I noticed that you are one of the few members of WikiProject United States Government that are still active so I wanted to ask you a question. It appears that this project is mostly inactive aside from what the members might be doing independently. I was considering suggesting that this project be pulled in under WikiProject United States and wanted to solicit comments from some of this projects members before doing so. As with Washington DC and the others the project would for the most part maintain its own independence but I believe this would benefit both projects. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I just noticed your comments on my talk page that seemed to post at the same time as another comment so I didn't catch it. To answer you question about which project woudl take over. Basically both projects would remain and WPUSGovernment would still maintain control of its inner workings. This isn't an effort to eliminate the project but to make sure that the articles are being worked on and watched even when the project isn't active. I have done this for a couple other US related projects already (US counties, Superfunds, etc.) but what I would do though is:
  1. add WikiProject United States Governement to the list of projects supported by WPUS so that it would receive the same benefits (including the bots, newsletter, portal, collaboration space, etc.) as the more active project with more members.
  2. I would add a link to WikiProject United States Government at the top of the project page for WikiProject United States (more eyes means in theory more activity).
  3. I would add WikiProject US Government to {{WikiProject United States}} as well as a subcategory under Category:United States articles by topic.
  4. I would then retag all affected articles with the WPUS/USGov banner and remove the USGov banner from the article talk pages
  5. I would then request that the US government banner be deleted (no offense intended to the project but leaving the banner means that someone might add it to articles rrequiring cleanup later). If preferred I can just redirect it to the WPUS banner.
  6. I would then do a run to tag articles relating to US government and which are in the projects scope and are not currently tagged as such. Depending on the projects scope there are far more articles that could or should be associated that are not currently. This would be discussed and clarified before moving forward to ensure consensus and agreement on what the scope of the project is/should be.
