Suggested change[edit]

Hi, this template is on the list of Welcome templates for the Welcoming Committee, and it's quite different from all the standard ones and seems like a better choice in some instances. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to use your own username where it says "I'm ____", unless you subst the template first, manually edit it, then copy & paste each time, but I use Twinkle for welcomes so this won't work for me (and some users may not know how to edit the template). Is it okay if I replace "[[User:AxG|'''AxG''']]" with "[[User:{{{{{|safesubst:}}}REVISIONUSER}}|{{{{{|safesubst:}}}REVISIONUSER}}]]" so that anyone can use it? Instead of AxG showing every time, it will insert the name of the person using the template (I think). Thanks! LibertyOrDeath (talk) 10:25, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@LibertyOrDeath: Yes that's fine, I'm not using it that much. -- AxG /  10 years of editing 12:41, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, I'll make the change after doing a sandbox test. LibertyOrDeath (talk) 21:40, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, that's done. My name shows up on the template page now, presumably because I made the edit, but when you use the template, it will insert your own username as long you use {{subst:User:AxG/WikiWelcome1}} rather than copying & pasting the page. I fixed it so that your name appears on the template page, allowing you to copy & paste directly from the page if you prefer, but anyone else can use the template if they subst. It seems to be working great, but let me know if you find any issues. Thanks! LibertyOrDeath (talk) 22:37, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
