Reverted[edit]

Hi, Just to let you know, I reverted your edit on WP:UW about the bullet points, not through anything malicious though. The guideline itself hasn't change, just that it's not done automatically by the templates. It was a core part of WP:UWLS before we merged it with WP:UW and I'm sure someone would get up in arms if we removed it straight off. I'm not bothered either way, but I would suggest creating a discussion about it on WP:UW as to whether it was relevant anymore, seeing the opposition to it's automatic inclusion. Your warning script[edit]

For some reason I'm not able to use your warning script that has all the new warnings. It doesn't even come up in Firefox, and in Internet Explorer 7, it shows up, but clicking it adds nothing to the page. Can you please check my monobook? I love your new tool! Every single warning needed is there! And it even specifies the article! However, I still can't get the warnings to work on Mozilla. They still don't show up. However, it's now working on Internet Explorer. Also, is there a way to not specify the article in the warnings? I tried leaving it blank, but when I previewed it, it showed some [ (<-- I forget what that's callled) and colons. Apparently it does open in the background, but only the first one I click (so if I'm doing recent changes and click on a few diffs, and revert 2 right after each other, only editor of the first one will popup. And is this meant for Firefox?, because I still can't get the warnings to work on Firefox. They don't show up on someone's talk page, however, it works in Internet Explorer

One question: When I edit a user talk page, I see a [1] tab next to the watch tab. When I click on it, nothing happens. Is there something wrong with my monobook.js? Aha! I've found the CSS that's needed to make the [1] do something. :-) It didn't work because the Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Add LI menu script needs modifications to monobook.css as well. Thats a common problem with addlimenu, if the window is too small, it might flicker, I have been thinking of replacing that code with something more elaborate. the only solution now is to resize the window to make it bigger. _→AzaToth 00:15, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess the level four not working is ok, because it only doesn't work when I use it in the normal browser. When I click the rollback button and it opens the new window, the new window doesn't have a few things, so it allows the level 4 to show. I didn't even know it automatically remembered the page it rolled back so you don't have to type it in manually! I've a suggestion for extra functionality: Can twinkle be made to include the wikilinked page name in the edit summary when warning vandals? For some reason, I can't use th import script on the CSS. I must manually copy it. Though that happened, it fixed my problem, made the tabs for all things (your tool and not) look cooler, and now allow me to use the level 4 warnings in my regular browser (previously level 4 would only work in the one that popped up). Now I only have one minor problem left:If I open up 2 diffs, and revert both, both user talk pages won't open. The first one will open, but then by clicking the second one, the second one opens in the same popup window, and you must hit back to get to the first one, where if you warn the first one, you will loose the history of the window and will not be able to go forward again. Okay here's the strange thing: I do this, and then every time it tries to work FireFox blocks the popup of the user talk, though Wikipedia is on my safe list. twinklewarn.js addition[edit]

I didn't want to just edit on you, but I think the [4] tab also needs {{returnvandal-n}}. However, that template has a slightly different format, when you {{subst}} it, your signature is within the template already. I only glanced at the JavaScript, is there a way to handle that easily? that I can understand, but I felt that the colors was a bit to heavy. about my "flashing" image ontop of my talk page, it was an old joke, and I have kept it there, mostly for fun. Minor/Non-minor edits on Twinkle[edit]

Presently, reverts and notices on user talks are minor. "Revert to revision #" isn't marked minor. I think the "revert to revision" should be changed to minor, and warnings on the user talk should be made non-minor. Can this be changed if you agree? Okay. For some reason the diff thing isn't working for me, but it really doesn't matter that much. I like the final button the reports the person to AIV with the preloaded reason. However, could you make it appears on the editing page of the user talk also. This is because if you revert a vandal, it opens up the editing page, and then you may see that a final warning has already been given. If it has, you must go to the actual page and click it. replacement of AIV removal.[edit]

Thank you for your concern. First off, here is my rationale for removal. here last warning is at 18:31. here last contrib is at 18:30 (still no edits since and user has not been blocked. at 18:34 i viewed that the vandal had not repeated and removed them from the list. This removal was not in err, however me choosing not to enforce a punitive block, which is against wikipedia blocking pilicy. Hope this helps! I can understand. My script WP:TWINKLE has a lot of automagic builtin, and is rather fast. the final warning was added just before my script popped up the user talk page, and I the saw a final warning had bben given, so I then pushed my "(final)" button that will report it directly as vandalism after final warning to AIV. _→AzaToth 18:49, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me assure you, it was not me ignoring your additions. For every block I enforce, I always view the last warning time and the lst edit time. If there is a significant difference, I assume they got scared when that yellow you have messages box popped up and left it alone! If they have repeated than BAM, i slap a block on em. Twinkle request[edit]

When I use the Rollback Vandalism option (the red text one), would it be possible for the popup window to open a new section, such as with this URL instead?

The reason I ask is that I seem to end up using it mostly on IP users. It seems like everyone puts the warnings on a given IP into one common text field... I don't know if that's common with anti-vandal tools. I think it would be much better for each instance to have a unique section, with the name of the article, and the date it was lodged, so that anyone later looking at the IP talk page can immediately see what articles have been hit and how frequently. I have talked with drini, but he doesn't want to change anything. User:Lupin/badwords[edit]

I know you're busy with Twinkle, but I saw on your userpage that you're a regular expression programmer...I did some work on the above page, but it's been a long time since I messed with regular expressions and I had to re-learn as I went. I hope I didn't screw anything up, but one of the main things I wanted to accomplish was to rework words with different permutations (like pothead, pot-head, pot head). I tried putting the expression [- ]?, but that didn't seem to work, so I used ([- ])?, which worked for some strange reason. Twinkle minor edits[edit]

I see everyone is commenting on your Twinkle tool, and I have to agree with all the compliments; it's really great. I do have an issue or two, plus a suggestion.

First, the issue. I use Twinkle often to patrol the Recent Changes page, and I actively warn editors who vandalize or spam Wikipedia. However, I notice that Talk page edits I make are automatically marked minor if I use one of the tabs' links to insert a warning. I found the line in the twinklewarn.js file that does it:

document.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;

I notice you have it in there in both the warning and block tag functions. Might I request that these lines be removed? When editing Talk pages, edits made are usually minor, and this is the only tool I have seen that marks its edits as being minor. I also noticed that the vandal reporting script, twinklearv.js, has the line

doc.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true;

in it, which marks vandal reports as minor, not something I'd expect. Could these be enabled/disabled by extra variables in TwinkleConfig? I think conditionally branching the script would work, perhaps with a statement such as ( TwinkleConfig.markReportMinor ? doc.getElementById( 'wpMinoredit' ).checked = true : ); I think that would work, and it's based on the switches I found in your existing scripts. Thanks for looking into this.

Oh, one more thing. It would be handy if Twinkle would insert rollback links into the Recent Changes and Watchlist, the same way as it does user contributions lists. Inconsistent Twinkle links[edit]

Another issue I've noticed with Twinkle is that it doesn't consistently insert links on every single entry in a user's contribs. I have a screenshot if you're interested. Warning users using Twinkle[edit]

Hi AzaToth, I just installed the Twinkle user warning, and it works well in Firefox. However, I primarily use Safari to edit and when I put my cursor over the [1], [2], [3], [4], and [s], the window stretches very wide (I have to scroll over far past the edge of the screen), unlike in Firefox where the width is just that of the longest word in the column. I am encountering the exact same problem in Safari; furthermore, the CSD tab doesn't even show up for me in Safari (works perfect in firefox, though). Did he give you a screencap yet? Here is one that I made.

Think I have fixed that particular error, opera seemed not to like code like input.value = value, so I had to change that. Same here. Great Work! The db tagging is very useful. The only thing is often I want to tag with, {{db-band}}, {{db-club}}, {{db-corp}} {{:db-group}}, or {{db-web}} instead of just {{db-bio}} under A7 as listed here.
