Suspected = guilty of nothing farce[edit]

Here is a review of my edits

Stevo Todorcevic[edit]

Old: Stevo Todorčević FRSC is a Canadian-French-Serbian mathematician specializing in mathematical logic and set theory. He holds a Canada Research Chair in mathematics at the University of Toronto,[1] and a director of research position at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in Paris.

New: Stevo Todorčević FRSC is a Canadian-French-Serbian mathematician, one of the world’s leading logicians[2]. and a world leader in set theory and its applications to pure mathematics[3] . He is a Canada Research Chair professor in mathematics at the University of Toronto,[4] and a director of research position at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in Paris[5].

Comment The text was changed in order to stress Todorcevic's leading role in set theory and logic, all as per appraisals of his research given by Fields Institute and Royal Society of Canada. The old version did not have a single valid reference supporting in. Reference [1] just opens a search page.

Old He is also the author of a more introductory textbook, Topics in Topology (1997).[TT]

New In hisTopics in Topology Todorčević described some interactions of topology with other areas of mathematics. The first three chapters of this book contain his research results in this field and the fourth one presents Marjanovic's classification of hyperspaces of compact metric zerodimensional spaces[6]

Comment D. Eppstein's claimed that Topics in Topology is "a more introductory textbook" makes no sense.

New I also added that Todorcevic was

  • a Miller Research Fellow in Berkeley (1983-5),
  • a member of the Institute for Advanced Study (1985-6)[18],
  • a Tarski lecturer in 2014

Comment The first two positions he held can be explained as "the support" to "a group of the world’s most brilliant young scientists". The third one, Tarski lecturer, is an award given yearly to only one leading logician per year.

New I wrote short biographies of Todorevic's two most successful PhD students Ilijas Farah and Justin T. Moore and added their names to the list of Todorcevic's PhD students.

Walks on ordinals[edit]

This an extraordinary important and a very complex method in mathematics is developed by S. Todorcevic. The starting point in writing about this method is its definition. For that purpose I choose Todorcevic's books as sources for its technical brilliance for what Todorcevic was widely known and recognized. The article was just a stub whose goal was to attract mathematicians to collaborate on writing about this method. The article was deleted and moved to the Draft: Walks on ordinals under a meaningless "Undersourced" excuse by User:Winged Blades of Godric and an absurd accusation (Comment: Let this be main-spaced by someone other than the SPA creator with dubious promotional intentions. ~ Winged BladesGodric 14:12, 10 February 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Dumping ground: User:Vujkovica brdo account[edit]

This user retired his/her account on November 17 2016. A new account User:KanteP was created on January 22 2017. The diffs of both users did not intersect at all, i.e. the users shared neither time nor space. Therefore, it was not possible to claim that the same user used multiple accounts. For the two accounts, where one ceased to exist more than two months before the second was created, a checkuser did not have technical nor legal means to claim that the accounts belonged to the same person.

6. Thanks, Winged Blades, for opening this. The basic behavior has improved compared with some earlier editions, but compare (for example) the leading paragraph here with the one here, including the obsession with certain sources, and with Todorčević's PhD students. Also the decision to archive the talk-page to obscure past renditions of this nonsense. --JBL (talk) 19:57, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

My responses[edit]

Attacks 2, 3, and 4 are directly or thinly veiled accusations of S. Todorcevic stating that S. Todorcevic personally edited his biography. I'm not S. Todorcevic and such accusation is a malicious lie and makes Wikipedia legally liable for posting such lies.

Attacks 5. and 7.: S. Todorcevic is a world renown mathematician, one of the greatest set theorists and logicians of the 20ieth and 21st centuries. Therefore, he does not need any Wikipedia based promotional writings about his life and work. My writing about him and his contributions to mathematics is academically motivated. I'm rejecting these attacks as slanderous and as primitive lies

Attacks 1. and 6. Adding positions Todorcevic held at Miller Research and Institute for Advanced Studies to the biobgaphy and stating that he was a Tarski lecturer was supported by internal links - therefore the attack 1. "not every one-year academic posting needs to be mentioned without some source that indicates significance" makes no sense. Attack 6: " the leading paragraph here with the one here, including the obsession with certain sources, and with Todorčević's PhD students." The "certain sources" are Fields Institute, University of Toronto, Royal Society of Canada and Centre national de la recherche scientifique, therefore, the top Canadian and French academic institutions. The "Todorcevic's PhD students" are only two: Justin T. Moore and Ilijas Farah

Request reason:

1. The checkuser did not do his job. Assuming User:Vujkovica brdo was a Serbia based account, I want a checkuser to confirm that User:Vujkovica brdo and me are not on the same continent
2. I am not Stevo Todorcevic; it's a malicious lie to claim that he personally wrote about himself and his research here
3. Stevo Todorcevic is a world-renown mathematician. Writing about his research and methods he discovered was not a promotion in any sense for S. Todorcevic is way above Wikipedia notability and he does not need any promotion here.
4. My writings about this mathematician and his methods are purely academic. 5. My account is not an SPA account. In addition, I wrote other three biographies of notable mathematicians: Ilijas Farah, Justin T. Moore, Jean A. Larson, edited biographies of James Earl Baumgartner, Jeremy Quastel wrote articles about two important mathematical methods: Walks on ordinals, S and L spaces, fixed Baumgartner's axiom, Countryman line
6. The account block is based on baseless suspicions; I did not violate a single Wikipedia rule. For full account about my edits see Suspected = guilty of nothing farce

Decline reason:

Much of this doesn't address the issue at hand. Legal threats will only confirm that this account should be blocked. Also, do you really want to point to your edits at Baumgartner's axiom or Countryman line to show that you're not a single-purpose account? Huon (talk) 22:42, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2.There were no legal threats. The rejection of previous block was misinterpretation of my response. Accordingly I removed the text misinterpreted by Huon
3. All my edits are purely academic. Yes, Baumgartner's axiom and Countryman line edits are proof of my pure academic approach to mathematics. I do not need to select any particular edits to prove my innocence.
4. Now, I have no illusion that this unblock request will be rejected by someone throwing new accusations against me and making new misinterepretations of my edits. Just wanted to see how far it will go.

Decline reason:

Talk page access is revoked due to continued disruptive appeals. RickinBaltimore (talk) 13:36, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
