Hello Dr. Boze!

Though I have no way to truly know it's you, I will go on good faith here. I appreciate your message. Please understand I'm not trying to cling to the past here or that I "love the old name" as some have asserted; lately I've been trying to find some consensus with other experienced, third-party editors on whether or not to change the name of the article. I am trying to help this article get better according to Wikipedia's quality standards. There are certain naming conventions and standards to promote consistency across the board in a variety of things, including naming of articles. My point was that because the article was titled "Kent State University Stark Campus," which, according to the KSU 2008 style guide is the full official name, that simply needs to be at least in the opening line, which is what was originally there. In fact, the opening sentence was the only use of the full name, with the phrase "also known as" and later "commonly referred to" using either Kent State University Stark or Kent State Stark. The entire rest of the article, both of those phrases are used to describe the school. The Wikipedia article on naming US School articles states the following: "United States school article titles should use the full official name of the school as provided by the school itself, unless the most common name for the school is significantly more well known than the official name." (see WP:NC(USS)) Even in your note, you stated the "preferred" name is Kent State University Stark, but not the official name. In addition, not only the Google search results, but also even recent news stories indicate that "Kent State University Stark Campus" is still in common usage outside of the Kent State system and is not significantly less known than "Kent State Stark" or "Kent State University Stark." And no, I did not create this article, so I did not initially title it "Kent State University Stark Campus."

Now, if Kent State University released a statement (like in the style guide for example) that officially dropped the "campus" moniker from the regional campus names that I am not aware of, then certainly, the name of the article should be changed to reflect that as should other articles on KSU's regional campuses (currently there is only one other article). But as I said, the most recent edition of the style guide uses the Ashtabula Campus as an example and specifically states that "C" should be capitalized in Campus and that "Kent State University Ashtabula Campus" was an acceptable form of the name along with "Kent State Ashtabula" and "Ashtabula Campus." It does the same for the Tuscarawas Campus ("The lecture is at the Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus."), so I have no reason to believe that the full name has changed, though it is obvious what the preferred name is just by looking at the logo. Because Wikipedia is for a worldwide audience, not just a Stark County or Ohio audience, in my opinion including "Campus" helps readers better understand the relationship between the campuses that Stark and the other campuses are part of a single university "with multiple access points" as the style guide states, rather than sister schools sharing a common name. Also, while Eric Fingerhut's statements should definitely be included in the article, they do not guide the naming of the article since it is a Wikipedia article, not a Kent State Stark or University System of Ohio article. The purpose of this article is to educate readers from around the world about the Kent State University Stark Campus; the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is not a promotional tool for the University or a secondary website that the University controls the content of in any way. (See WP:NOT and WP:COI)

Thank you for the invitation. I may be down that way soon to see a guitar concert and am very familiar with the area, though not the campus itself. As for the article, I will do my best to continue to try and improve it when I have the opportunity. It still has a ways to go and really lacks experienced editors who are familiar with Wikipedia policies on copyrighted material and structure standards for articles. For instance, most of the pictures included in the Kent State Stark article are directly from the school's own website. This is only allowed when a "free version" (i.e. one someone took on their own) isn't available AND a detailed rationale is included with the photo explaining why it needs to be included. The same holds true in the article about you; the pictures used are directly from Kent State Stark's website, meaning they are copyrighted by Kent State University. Even if the photographer uploaded them to Wikipedia, the University would still have to make some sort of official statement releasing them to the public domain or that the photographer had the rights to upload them since we have no way to know that the person who uploaded them had the rights to do so in the first place. My experience with KSU has shown that while KSU is not against their pictures being used on Wikipedia, they do not release them to the public domain; thus, Wikipedia doesn't want them (see WP:IUP).

As for "colocated", there are some instances it does have a hyphen (seems to be an acceptable spelling), but in wikilinking it, there was no hyphen (another common spelling is "collocated" with two 'L's) and the Merriam-Webster online dictionary also did not have a hyphen as did most sources when I searched for the term. My main point was that is shouldn't be capitalized (which it had been) since it isn't a proper noun or trademarked phrase, not to mention it is hardly unique to Kent State Stark and Stark State.

Best of luck in helping Kent State Stark to grow and progress as an institution. As for your Wikipedia endeavors, just be careful that you and those who may be working at Kent State Stark avoid conflict of interest in the Kent State Stark article and the article about you. About the Betsy Boze article[edit]

If you have concerns about the text in the article, I'd suggest following the directions at Wikipedia:Autobiography#Problems in an article about you. There's a group of volunteers who field emails and deal with these issues—and their decisions pretty much trump those of normal editors or administrators.
