Problem with your custom signature

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

Blocks & socks

• Bahadurkote (talk · contribs) was created and softblocked by Alexf (talk · contribs) on 2020-06-15.
• Bahadurkote1 (talk · contribs) was created on 2020-07-08, which is permitted by the softblock, though the choice of username misses the point of the softblock.
• Bahadurkote1 was then hardblocked for block evasion by Alexf on 2020-08-27. Why? The softblock explicitly allows the creation of a new account.
• Headmasterhsbahadurkote (talk · contribs) was created on 2018-10-23, never interacted with the other two, and was used on just one day, 2020-06-15.

On 2022-08-28 Jeff G. (talk · contribs) tagged all three accounts as socks without filing an SPI, and tagging Bahadurkote as the master. If they were socks, Headmasterhsbahadurkote is the oldest account & would be the master. A tag with {{uw-agf-sock}} on the user talk pages would have been more appropriate.

Bahadurkote has requested a renaming of their account. I'd like to know where we stand with regard to the blocks, and what justification we have for that position. Cabayi (talk) 12:18, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

@Cabayi: Sorry, I got sidetracked and didn't follow through with the research that would go into an SPI. It appears that my interest in these users may started with Bahadurkote1, who made some edit on Commons and this edit 18:03, 25 August 2022 (UTC), and created User:Bahadurkote1/sandbox with '{{User sandbox}} <!-- EDIT BELOW THIS LINE --> {{Use dmy dates|date=July 2020}} {{Use Indian English|date=July 2020}} {{unreferenced|date=July 2012}} {{Infobox...' 16:52, 8 July 2020 (UTC) and created User:Bahadurkote1 with '{{Use dmy dates|date=July 2020}} {{Use Indian English|date=July 2020}} {{unreferenced|date=July 2012}} {{Infobox settlement | name = Bahadurko...' 14:32, 5 August 2020 (UTC) for a village. That led to Bahadurkote, who created User:Bahadurkote with ' {{original research|date=May 2019}} {{Use dmy dates|date=April 2018}} {{Use Indian English|date=April 2018}} <!-- See [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities]] fo...' 11:06, 15 June 2020 (UTC) for a village. Based on those dates, there was an earlier article which existed in April 2018 and was tagged for being OR in May 2019 that I have been unable to find; perhaps an Admin or Checkuser here may find it. Then, c:User:Headmasterhsbahadurkote made this edit 04:08, 27 August 2022, perhaps trying for a better Alexa search ranking or other SEO. Of course, Admins and Checkusers here have access to any deleted content here. Analyzing all that, it appears that Bahadurkote may be a village in India, and the user may be the high school headmaster and village founder there per this latest revision of the draft village article I have access to 13:17, 27 August 2020 (UTC) (an earlier draft is here). Villages and high schools are inherently notable here, but we need evidence that they exist. Usernames, on the other hand, may not be role accounts for villages, high schools, or headmasters; we need actual names, the requested name appears to qualify, and it appears consistent with "Syed Arif Shah" in these three edits. Also, please note that Pahari, Kashmiri, and Urdu appear to be spoken in the village, but the user has not created articles in any of those languages.   — Jeff G. ツ 10:03, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
