I find inserting hyperlinks daunting. Is it possible to have them inserted for me is I produce a list of links?

Hi Balquhidder2013! If you are trying to add a link to another Wikipedia article, all you need to do is wrap it in two sets of brackets. So if you wanted to link to the Wikipedia article about cats, you would just type this in the edit window: [[cat]], which would produce this when saved: cat. You can learn more about this at the help page about links.

If you want to add an external link, all you have to do is put the URL between one pair of brackets like this: [http://www.example.com Name of website], which would produce this: Name of website. However, take care not to add external links to other websites in the body of an article. See the external link policy for more information. /wia /tlk 16:45, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help me! My sandbox content has disappeared[edit]

I had placed considerable content in my Sandbox which has now disappeared. How can I retrieve it and how do I make progress. The problem is that there are so many instructions it is impossible for a newcomer like me to follow them. Do I need to start again? My text was redirected and having made one change I saved it to see how it worked but then I was just left with a heading. Do I give up completely? My intention had been to enter biogs for a number of worthwhile (but some, in world terms, not that well known) artists.

Please help me with...

All of your contributions can be seen by clicking on "contributions" at the top of the page. There you will see Draft:Feargus Hetherington, and if you click on "history" once you go there (at the top of the page), you will see every revision to that page, any of which you can revert to to access any version that has ever existed – just click on any date to see the version, edit and save. You will also see that it was moved there as the draft namespace is the usual place for AFC submissions. The "sandbox" title is just a way to name a subpage, which can have any title. it doesn't need to be "sandbox" and you can create many of them, just by using your username backslash and some title, like the name of something you want to work on. e.g., User talk:Balquhidder2013/Foo. But I will clear your sandbox for reuse by deleting it.

As for the underlying issue, all article topics need to be on notable subjects, as shown by citing to reliable sources that are secondary in nature and entirely unconnected to the topic. They must be written with verifiable content, in a neutral manner and contain no original research. Sandboxes are for working up content to eventually make a suitable article. It's hard to say in the abstract, but "not well known" artists, may not have sufficient sources in existence to sustain articles (though notability is not the same as fame). Regarding your Draft:Feargus Hetherington You don't seem to understand what references are supposed to do? For example the sentence "Hetherington is an associate teacher of violin, viola and chamber music at the University of St Andrews" should be followed by a reference that supports that statement, the reference you have supplied [1] Doesn't mention Hetherington. The reason for reversion on my part the second time around was that I thought I had eventually found the way forward as indicated with the quote in my first message. I didn't realise he had corrected them as there were symbols like { and |and various words }. When I eventually found on a citations page what appeared to be a solution I started at the beginning to rectify the references. I had only got to number 6 when I received the second of the two messages above.

First of all I need to know if I have found the way forward, e.g. the first 5 or 6 references. Are they correct?

Hello. Don't panic. I just came across something that will need immediate attention, before the AfC review takes place, and it is a problem that can be fixed. So please don't panic.

The problem is that significant parts of this article have been pasted directly from the subject's own web-site at http://feargushetherington.com/biography . That is not allowed; it is a copyright violation (the web site is clearly marked "© 2015 Feargus Hetherington"). You thanked me for my edits and then promptly reverted them all! The lede section should only summarise the rest of the article not have unreferenced content and puffery of it's own and ALL content needs to be referenced or removed. I notice that in some of your recent work you have been using the | website parameter in a rather strange way. You have used | website=url=... , so it was displaying as (for example)

You already have the url parameter for the ref, and the website parameter is intended for the title of the website. In many cases the name of the publisher may be the same as the title of the website, so in these cases the publisher parameter can be omitted. Look at the description and examples in {{cite web}}.
