I guess I'm supposed to reply here...

I may have done my math wrong, but if I got the conversion from pounds to tons right, the edit I made did not change any factual content of the page. It is always confusing to change units in the middle of a discussion. At best, it forces the reader to waste time converting one unit to another, so they can compare the two; at worst, it is used to intentionally mislead the audience, making one number appear much larger than another.

The content on the CS page switched from tons ("thousands of tons of CS gas were used by the U.S. forces") to pounds ("other estimates report 15 million pounds of CS being used"). Changing 15 million pounds to seven and a half thousand tons is, I believe, not a change in facts at all, but merely an attempt to make the page more readable. If you believe it was ill-advised in this respect, I have no quarrel with it being removed-- but it did not 'add' any information, either incorrect or otherwise (again, as long as I did my math right).

Hi. I see your point, but the article cited after this statement uses a particular unit and converting it in this way is not the right way to do it. You could put the alternative unit in brackets afterwards if it will help the readability.
