January 2016[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page BankVic has been reverted.
Your edit here to BankVic was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://twitter.com/BankVic) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 01:15, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

As your user name shows that you have a conflict of interest in regard to BankVic, please read our policy on editing with a conflict of interest and our terms of service requirements in regard to paid editing. Please do not edit the BankVic article directly again. Instead, please make suggestions for change on the article's talk page, and allow other editors to make the changes if they deem them suitable. Thanks, BMK (talk) 01:57, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • The username and conflict of interest ought to be enough, but I'll add this: the next time you add inadequately sourced and/or promotional content, I'll ask that your account be blocked. Thank you, 2601:188:0:ABE6:9889:7AE0:D477:36FB (talk) 02:11, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

January 2016[edit]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because this account has been used only for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia's content policy. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is against Wikipedia's policy: an account is for an individual, not a group. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a free advertising service.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. - Vianello (Talk) 02:16, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am new to wikipedia and am trying to make changes to our page. I have removed the social media channel but cannot see where else the self promotion or inadequate information is? Could you please help me to understand this? Also the only reason why it is the banks name is because the information is incorrect on the page and I wanted it to have correct information

Decline reason:

Your username is intrinsically promotional, and must be changed. Your new name must not be, or contain, the name of a company or organization. Also note that the article is not "your" page; it is one of Wikipedia's pages. Before you apply again, should you choose to do so, please read conflict of interest policy. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:12, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • I won't formally review this unblock request because I don't have time to properly examine your edits, but it is inadequate in several respects. Firstly, you have not followed the instructions to select a new username, and you will not be allowed to continue with the current one. Secondly, you talk about "our" page, and that's problematic for two reasons. "Our" implies this is a company/group account, and that is not allowed - the English Wikipedia only allows accounts for individual people. Also, it's not "your" page, it's Wikipedia's page about the company - the difference might seem subtle, but it's the difference between a company writing about itself (as one might on Facebook) and disinterested third parties writing about the company from an encyclopedic viewpoint. I suggest you have a good read of Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy and then try to improve your unblock request. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:57, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On the basis that you have now been shown to be a sockpuppet; sockpuppets do not get unblocked.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:55, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't mind; would you be able to give us a quick summary of your interpretation of our conflict of interest policy and why you don't own anything on Wikipedia? Please and thank you. m.o.p 16:02, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of ownership - nobody has a right to own a page and no company has a right to dictate what the article says. Meaning that if i'm not happy with a statement that I have to have proof why that is incorrect. Why I don't own anything on Wiki - It would be a conflict of interest as wikipedia's purpose is to provide unbiased information. If I was to post something on behalf of the company, it goes against the whole purpose of wiki

To any admin reviewing this block, please see User talk:Minden jacob and their contributions. They appear to be a re-incarnation of BankVic1974, or, if not, they have a similar COI. Their edits are almost identical. BMK (talk) 23:52, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
