Your GA nomination of Whiskey Rebellion

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Whiskey Rebellion you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Shearonink -- Shearonink (talk) 23:40, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Safe here on my talk page

@Timothyjosephwood:, the comment on your talk page was a good faith question about the edit in question . I had not seen an edit to an article talk page like this before and wanted to know if this happens often and what an appropriate an response should be. I have no issue with any other editors at this time and want to make sure that I respond in a good way. I'm not sure about snarky. Please give me your best advice. I am not really that contentious and seem to blunder into situations like a deer in the headlights. I was only blocked for three days, despite what the log says. It is confirmed by looking at my editing history, but it really isn't worth the time to debate. Best Regards,

Barbara (WVS) (talk)
The relevant guideline for editing other's comments is WP:TPO, and the short answer is that it is 95% of the time not okay to edit other's comments. Even in cases where you have the "moral authority" through policy to do so, it's often counterproductive, and best just left alone, because it just serves to escalate tensions.
Having said that, and assuming all good faith, you probably know as well as I do that communicating through written word is less than perfect, and it's usually a good idea to make some small effort to word such communication in a way that it is difficult to assume a wrong intent, because otherwise it is often very easy to do so, especially if editors have a contentious history with one another. TimothyJosephWood 21:24, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I believe that I understand my errors at this time and fully intend to be an editor that 'de-escaltes' contentious interactions and focuses on editing. I especially appreciate you assuming good faith on my part. Frankly, I have do have a problem noting the nuances used by some editors and it appears that I have a tendency to mis-interpret comments and edits. Please, feel free to note any comments of mine that might appear 'snarky' or 'out-of-line' and leave me your comments here on my talk page so that I might improve my skills in working with other editors. I really do talk like I write - it might be an age thing, I am not sure. The Very Best of Regards,

Hello, Barbara (WVS). You have new messages at Talk:Whiskey Rebellion/GA1.

I've done some further reviewing. Shearonink (talk) 04:20, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Barbara (WVS), when you nominate an article to be a Good Article, you are making a commitment to follow up when a reviewer begins work. At the very least, if you cannot make the necessary edits, it would be courteous to let the reviewer know. For future reference, this is what it says on the Good Article nomination instructions page: Anyone may nominate an article to be reviewed for GA, although it is preferable that nominators have contributed significantly to the article and are familiar with its subject and its cited sources. Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination. The reviewer will be making suggestions to improve the article to GA quality during the review process; therefore, the review will require your involvement as nominator. Before nominating an article, ensure that you will be able to respond to these comments in a timely manner. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:12, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for contacting me about this. I did notify the top editors of the article, erroneously assuming that they would be interested in this effort. I won't make that mistake again. I believe all of us who are interested in this review possess the good faith to see the article achieve GA status. I would suggest that at this time the nomination be withdrawn and I will reassess my ability to participate this summer. Thank you for your efforts-they won't be wasted because I will incorporate the suggestions while I make improvements to the article. Best Regards,

Category:Wikipedians who stand up to foo-fighting bullies, which you created, has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. Your recent work on editing this article is greatly appreciated. However, in the course of your recent changes to the GA Review page, you changed another editor's content when you removed their "working" templates. I have gone ahead and restored those templates on the GA Review page - striking through them but adding a note - the timeline of the editing & comments on an article talkpage should usually be left alone unless the content is vandalism or not about the talkpage's purpose (improving the associated article, discussing a particular topic, etc).
There is now only one "citation needed" template still on the article - it is the last thing to be done before I can finish my GA Review. In my opinion, that particular paragraph is POV/unsourced content and should probably be deleted. If you're around today, please take a look at the GA Review page to see what I mean. Again, thanks again for stepping in and improving the article - we'll all get it done together. Shearonink (talk) 18:21, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Ouch! I didn't mean to offend any other editor so thank for correcting my mistakes. I am assuming that you mean those icons "working"? I will go back and review your corrections to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I will also go back to see what other POV/unsourced content needs to be fixed. Again, thank you very much for taking on this monumental task and for so gently correcting my mistakes. The Very Best of Regards,

Your GA nomination of Whiskey Rebellion

The article Whiskey Rebellion you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Whiskey Rebellion for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law & Policy

Hi! Wondering if you might have any ideas about how to improve the page for Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law & Policy. It has a flag about notability guidelines and I'm curious about how you might approach improving it in this manner. Any thoughts? Thanks and hope you are well! --TheLeaper (talk) 21:26, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Sorry it took me a couple of days to respond...I believe that a few more independent sources would be all you need. I can remove the template. I have a source that I am going to put in. And next week I will have more time to beef it up more. Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   18:56, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Whiskey Rebellion

On 22 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Whiskey Rebellion, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that only two men who participated in the Whiskey Rebellion were convicted of treason, but were later pardoned by President George Washington? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Whiskey Rebellion. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Whiskey Rebellion), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Janak Raj Talwar

Hi friend, Noticed you left a new editor welcome message on the talk page of the article, Janak Raj Talwar. Guess it was an inadvertent error. Thought I should bring it your notice. Thanks. --jojo@nthony (talk) 17:05, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I have only made one mistake that was stupider than this one. I created a new article called User Bfpage. If weren't for editors like you to clean up after my sloppiness, I'm pretty sure I would be banned by now for being just plain dumb. I appreciate your edit very much.

I have pinged you in response

…to your insulting and self-serving reply in 2016, to the matter of self-published scientific images. There is no excuse for discussing "four edits" in the face of all evidence to the contrary. This selective narrowing of evidence from all readily available to what is convenient to your pre-formed conclusion is startling, and alarming. The matter is being re-raised at Wikiproject Medicine. Your ping will be there, and to the original point where the discussion began. Le Prof User:Leprof_7272 73.210.155.96 (talk) 03:16, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

And here is my User page if you have not been able to find it, [2]. I'll let you run the numbers, and see why I found the effort behind and spirit of your "four edits" comment lazy and insulting. A tag has been placed on Sue Abramson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mattress.org/archive/index.php/Detail/artists/1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sunday March 26: Action=History Wiki-Hackathon @ Ace Hotel

On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New York hosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history.

For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we'll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups.

Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 05:13, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Edit warring notice

Please follow WP:MEDMOS and especially the WP:NOTHOWTO aspects of that guideline, which explicit discuss dosing (we don't discuss dosing, contra your edit note here) among other things.

Your recent editing history at Ketorolac shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Jytdog (talk) 15:18, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

Thank you so much for helping to make this article better. Your input is valuable and received in good faith. This section of the article is not a how-to-guide, I am providing readers with information on how the medication is administered. The article is not telling anyone 'how-to' do anything. It describes what is done. I appreciate your input and look forward to an amicable editing collaboration.

Sunday May 21, 10:30 am - 4:30pm: Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Edit-a-thon: Met Open Access Initiative is the Metropolitan Museum of Art's first edit-a-thon, being hosted on Sunday May 21, 2017 in Thomas J. Watson Library at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City.

The Met is excited to make available over 375,000 images of public domain artworks for contribution to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse collection onsite and remotely. The event is a key marker too of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's first Wikimedian-in-Residence program, with resident Richard Knipel (User:Pharos), along with Wikimedia NYC. We invite you to help enhance Wikimedia communities and platforms with open access images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The event requires pre-registration. To register, 1) please sign-up with Eventbrite via The Met's website and 2) add your Wikipedia username to the #Participants on the wikimeetup page. Please check-in with museum staff when you arrive at the Thomas J. Watson Library within the museum.

We also welcome remote participation for the global Met Open Access Artworks Challenge (15 May - 30 June, 2017), you can sign up there at Met Open Access Artworks Challenge/Participants. --Pharos (talk) 16:23, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Side effects of penicillin

Hello, Barbara (WVS),

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Side effects of penicillin should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Side effects of penicillin .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 16:45, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Copy-paste move

Please don't do copy-paste moves -- if you have an issue moving, please use Wikipedia:Requested moves where an administrator can help you. Copy-paste moves break Wikipedia's required attribution. I fixed the electrolyte imbalance move for you. Thanks, Calliopejen1 (talk) 22:54, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks so much. I always feel like I am bothering administrators when I need something done like this. I will comply In the future. Best Regards,

Strange edit

Hi Barbara, I reverted this edit which seems to have been a weird case of find-and-replace. Please take a look. — Jeremy 18:06, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Oh my, that is so strange. I am glad that you caught that. I did a cut and paste from Microsoft word and something got lost in translation. Thank you for correcting this. I am sorry to take up your time with my mistakes.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   18:44, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

It sounds great

Re:your question on my talk page.

First I have to say that this sounds great. I'm not exactly sure about the question, so let me restate it in detail and you can correct me if I misunderstood. "Barbara (WVS) may take a paid position at U of P as a Wikipedian-in-Residence. What formal steps need to be taken on Wikipedia and at the U of P to let people know about this and avoid breaking rules?"

On Wikipedia:

I'll recommend that you make a formal statement on your user page here, something like "I am a paid Wikipedian-in-Residence at the U of P helping to .... (short description from their point of view). I generally edit .... (general subject matter of your edits)."

That's about all you really need to do from Wikipedia's side. WP:Paid has a sentence or 2 on this. WP:COI has about 4 sentences. Note that W-i-R's only need to state this once (e.g. on your user page), but I'd drop a note on the article talk page once as well if you've make any edit of more than a few words. You are allowed to edit the article itself, not just the talk page. But I'd avoid that in cases that might seem to be more-or-less commercial, e.g. the U of P cafeteria system, articles on specific U of P programs that some people might think of as ads for the program. My impression is that you don't edit articles like this anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem.

For the U of P

This is something I can't really answer. They have their own rules on these type of things, and universities tend to be more formal than Wikipedia. I'd imagine that they might want to let people know that you are officially representing U of P as an employee, so that they can withdraw this "official recognition" once you are no longer an employee. But if they don't need this, then please don't make anything complicated. If they insist on sending somebody a letter, I could probably think of a few names if you'd like.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Smallbones(smalltalk) 16:36, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Wow! Such a quick reply. Alright, I think I have a handle on it. You may not know the answer to this question: I would like to 'close' my username as Barbara (WVS) to Barbara (WiR). Of course the old page wouldn't need to disappear just in case someone wants to search what I've done, so is this something I need to discuss with an administrator? This would be my fourth user name. I'm guessing if a create a very clear message on the inactive user page, that would probably be adequate. I will keep you posted. Perhaps you should take a look at the Archives Service Center that I created. It is not commercial in anyway that I can see since they don't get paid by those who access and use their resources. I guessing that this kind of format would be acceptable. Pitt has so many things to give to the world - content, research, resources... I've seen the repository of books that Pitt has. I am told that there a million books in there. It sounds like the sum of human knowledge to me!
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   21:03, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
The Archives Service Center article is not a problem. The usual types of problems that might come up are a) a museum gift shop or snack bar (some places obviously don't have enuf content to talk about!), b) a film series meant to raise cash for the new .... c) a block buster show meant to raise cash at $60 per ticket, "Son of Tutenkamen". It doesn't look like you do this type of stuff.
See WP:VALIDALT, especially "designated roles" where they talk about W-i-Rs. I'd just put a note on this page saying you're no longer in this role, but please see User:NewName for my new role account. Since you'll have 4 names, maybe just summarize them in 1 sentence. And if you have a favorite admin, just drop her a note saying "Hello, just thought I'd let you know about my new account which I use for W-i-R. Smallbones(smalltalk) 01:18, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Thank You

Thank you for writing the article about squirrels and cyberterrorism. The article was well written. In my home state of Wisconsin, there has been power outages caused by squirrels and sometimes birds. Again my thanks for writing the article. RFD (talk) 20:23, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Seriously?--Shirt58 (talk) 12:49, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

You are pushing this way too far. Squirrels causing damage to electrical or wiring infrastructure is not "squirrel-sponsored" and it is not "cyberterrorism." Earthquakes damage wires too. Are you going to write "Earthquake-sponsored cyberterrorism" next? If you want editors to take your articles seriously then don't use ridiculous titles.
And I removed your addition of the squirrel episode to the Selfie article. I doubt very much that a scared kid warrants inclusion in an article, and as the source clearly states, the child was not injured. The section of the article was for injuries resulting from selfies. Meters (talk) 17:14, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
I could not have made this up. If the sources use the wording, then that is the wording in the article. That is why I included so many quotes - paraphrasing would not have give the topic the gravity it deserves. Editors take my articles seriously, believe me.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   22:06, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
I don't disagree that squirrels cause outages. That does not make them cyber terrorists, and it does not mean that the squirrels of the world are sponsoring terrorism. A satirical site commented on the frequency of squirrel related outages and other people picked up the usage because it's funny. Just because a few sources use the term in a joking way does not mean that we should use the joke term for teh title of the article. I suggest that you rename the article to something more reasonable. Meters (talk) 22:42, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Evil squirrels

I'm pretty sure I get where you're coming from with the squirrel stuff. I nominated your articles for deletion, but I know there's similar garbage out there, and I'd be happy to work with you to get that cleaned up. I wanted to drop you a note now because I'm soon going to be offline until June 11. I will respond when I have internet access again. Plantdrew (talk) 04:30, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello Plantdrew, there may be a misunderstanding regarding 'where I am coming from'. I am not responding to a WP policy nor am I trying to make a point about articles that are similar to the ones that I have created, including Animal attacks. But to digress a bit, my intent in creating Animal attacks was to create an article that a third-grader would love. I am not a complicated person and realize that if people are going to read WP, they might as well enjoy it. The same simple-minded goal is my motivation for the creation of the other squirrely articles that have recently been created. Mentioning the possible motivation of reacting negatively to a WP policy with the creation of articles may not be an endorsement of my good faith efforts.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   11:37, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
👍 Tvoz likes this. (on behalf of our third grade audience) Tvoz/talk 17:03, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. We all take ourselves too seriously sometimes, don't we? I know I do.
Barbara (WVS)   20:38, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
My apologies for not assuming good faith. There's nothing wrong with some humor, but it can sometimes make it seem like you're not here to build an encyclopedia (squirrels using baby monitors for terrorism is what did it for me; I wasn't sure what you were trying to accomplish, but I didn't believe it was building an encyclopedia). Best wishes with your future work. Plantdrew (talk) 01:46, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Signpost - WikiProject Desk, idea for WikiProject article

Greetings Barbara (WVS), At Signpost Newsroom WikiProject desk, Archive 1 is a list of suggested WikiProjects to write about. Wonder if you might like to do WikiProject Libraries? I noticed that from January 2016 (6,500 articles) it now has almost 8,000 articles so it does have "signs of life". Regards, JoeHebda • (talk) 20:00, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

I would absolutely LOVE to do libraries. I know I am in grave danger of having a conflict of interest when it comes to libraries..humour intended..but without the ability to find references for some of the information we add to the encyclopedia, we would be sunk and lose our reliability. You already knew I was a softy when it comes to libraries, didn't you?
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   00:20, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Hypothyroidism

On hypothyroidism you[4] replaced a peer reviewed source (doi:10.1093/humupd/dmr024) with links to two websites. Granted these are authoritative sites run by respected organisations, but the source you removed is not in fact a "primary source". JFW | T@lk 08:11, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

My apologies. Shall I put it back or have you already done that? I appreciate you double-checking my work. Some editors don't like to be reverted but I have realized that I might need to be reverted at times because of some errors that I have made. Thank you again.
Best Regards,

Pain management in childbirth

This probably qualifies for WP:DYK. Why don't you nominate it? It'd get a link on the Main Page for six or eight hours if you did. WhatamIdoing (talk) 15:30, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes, it probably qualifies. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I've nominated many of my articles already so I hesitated to nominate this one. But it seems pretty important - isn't it the question that comes to mind for every pregnant woman? Do you know how to nominate it? If not, I will do it. Did you know my terrorist squirrel article is scheduled for 4/1/2018? I got the first slot on the next April Fools Day. Did you see my article in the Signpost. Now every one knows that I am a comedian in real life.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   21:28, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
DYK needs more articles like this. I think you should go for it.
Congratulations on the April Fool's Day item. It's perfect. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:44, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Now I remember why I didn't nominate this article - it is almost entirely a cut and paste from the public domain. Now how could I ever take credit for that? It just doesn't seem right. The topic is top importance, though. Thanks again.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   11:26, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Cut-and-paste from public domain doesn't count towards the DYK character requirements. But if you've added 1500 characters of your own, then you could submit it. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:58, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
I don't think I added more than a few words to the article. I changed all the 'you's' to 'the woman' and I'm sure that doesn't count.
Barbara (WVS)   19:22, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Sources

Hi Barbara: I saw your post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Resource Exchange, and have added some of the content you posted to WP:ADVANCED, a source searching aid I created a while ago. Thanks for your work to improve source searching options on Wikipedia. North America1000 05:34, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks so much. I noted that during discussion about deletion sources were displayed under the title of the article in question. I thought, "It's pretty stupid to hit a new editor with the methods and means to improve an article and find references after the fact and during a discussion about deletion." This template we dreamed up is really taking off and I hope that it helps others find references.
Since you've brought up the topic of search templates, I used my amateur-ish coding skills to help me, only me, find the high quality references required to edit medical articles. I put it on talk pages of a few articles I created. It is being discussed on the proj Med talk page. It's not really a template - its placement on the talk pages I created was reverted. Sometimes it gets frustrating when you want to improve things and attempt to be 'bold' about it and have another editor take it apart. Med article editing shouldn't be so esoteric.
Best Regards,
Barbara (WVS)   13:08, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
You should seriously consider making a template for the template box. This would make it easy for others to utilize it, such as on article talk pages, and perhaps AfD. North America1000 13:55, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Dear Barbara (WVS), thank you for your contributions to WikiProject Medicine-related articles, especially your recent creation of Alcohol and pregnancy. Keep up the good work! You are making a difference here! With regards, AnupamTalk 03:25, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

Re:Thank you

Dear User:Barbara (WVS), you're welcome! The move was in accordance with WP:MOS and other articles, e.g. Smoking and pregnancy. You've done a great job creating it and the article is much needed for WikiProject Medicine. With regards, AnupamTalk 03:04, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

Your encouraging note here on my talk page is appreciated. I actually dread opening up any notifications that appear at the top of any page on WP because its almost always about how I've done something that another editor is not happy with. My articles sometimes disappear into merges without me knowing it. I've had my content on talk pages removed...your thank you really caught me off-guard. I'll probably reread it many times. Also, this is only the third time in ten years that I've edited with another editor and we both worked on an article together. Oh sure, the game of me adding content and then the same editor right behind me reverting and changing happens all the time. But I don't consider that working together. But you didn't even do a 'drive-by' tagging. That happens all the time, too. All I can say is Wow! and thank you. You've restored my faith in collaborative editing. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   03:11, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Wow User:Barbara (WVS)! I really appreciate your comment here, as well as the message on my talk page. I'm really speechless and am so happy that I could brighten your day. DYK for Gao Minglu

On 20 August 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gao Minglu, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Gao Minglu, founder of the Chinese avant-garde movement, was a herdsmen in Outer Mongolia during the Cultural Revolution? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gao Minglu. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Gao Minglu), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. No problem, Barbara! I wish I could claim the review credit but that goes to Elisa.rolle. I am just the person with a rubber-stamp. But thank you for your contributions! Alex ShihTalk 14:51, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject Investment

Hey there! I just re-launched the WikiProject Investment (tryin to get the word out).

The site has been fully revamped and updated and I would like to invite you the project.

Feel free to check out the project and ping me if you have any questions.

I'd like to invite you to join the Investment WikiProject. There are a lot of Investment related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help get this project off the ground and a few Investment pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks!

Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 00:12, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

Transition Design

Barbara, Thank you for your message. To be honest, we are about to give up. There are thousands of pages on Wikipedia that do not meet DGG's criteria and we have been more than willing to try and make changes that are acceptable. The page was simply deleted without giving us adequate opportunity to amend it. Now he is putting forth new, additional criteria in the form of counting citations. We have the beginnings of an international movement that has been started not for the benefit of any single university, but with the objective of trying to transform design education and seed/catalyze societal transitions. We have had many people contact us and ask why the page was taken down and at least one person from Germany contacted DGG to assure him there was broad interest. If there are criteria for the number of times something has been cited on Google Scholar, to qualify for a Wikipedia entry we have yet to see it. Unfortunately, with school starting Monday, I don't have time to make it a project to try and convince DGG that we are legitimate. It is a shame. We had no idea this kind of thing was a part of the Wikipedia community. It's the antithesis of what we are trying to do with Transition Design. Terry Irwin (talk) 22:34, 26 August 2017 (UTC)Terry Irwin

That is exactly the point! Don't you see the irony? If you don't have time to meet with me, I can't help you. Is there someone you could assign the task to meet with me and other editors? I am in school right now and am still able to arrange the time. If this is as important as you say it is, then it would be appropriate to pursue it. You are very fortunate to have very skilled Wikipedia editors that are located so close to CMU. It's especially ironic since I help Pitt get their 'encyclopedic' content into Wikipedia quite regularly. DGG is an editor. I am an editor. Chris Troutman is an editor. DGG does not have the last word on whether or not a wikipedia page stays or goes. If you saved an offline copy of your original wikipedia page then the information isn't lost. You simply need help getting the article appropriately referenced to be included. Google scholar is not the only source that defines notability. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   22:50, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
Hello Barbara and Terry Irwin. Here is the page in question: Draft:Transition design. After it's improved, if you need assistance moving it to article space, just let me know as I'd be glad to help. Happy editing. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Barbara and Rosie, thank you so much. Chris Troutman did email me earlier today and we've arranged for him to come to CMU on Tuesday at noon (we're buying him lunch) to discuss whether it makes sense to continue. Both your responses are very much appreciated. We are very willing to work to make the article conform, provided we can understand the criteria. DGG's original critique made sense and we were going to undertake extensive edits when it was taken down. However now, he seems to have added new and additional criteria that were not mentioned before. Hopefully our meeting with Chris will at least confirm whether or not Transition Design is even eligible to be a page on Wikipedia. Best, Terry Irwin (talk) 03:20, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Terry Irwin
