Re: Gunther Lotze[edit]

The article is in Vietnamese. The first sure signs that it qualifies for speedy deletion is the stating of exhaustive contact information like a business card, and hence falls under G11 advertising/spam criteria. Hope that helps! :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 05:31, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at my Userpage now, I created an image which you can size to whatever dimension you like, Image:WPascii2.JPG. My userpage contains a link to the original source. YechielMan 07:37, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re. [edit]

To update a spoken recording with a new version, go to its image page (as above) and click on the link "Upload a new version of this file". This avoids having to create a new image page for each update of your recording. You can ask an admin to delete the old . Cheers! -- Macropode 09:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme[edit]

Hi. It would make things easier for us at #wikipedia-bootcamp if you could find an alternative other than using the helpmetemplate to find romanian, slavonic or greek-speaking editors. You are more likely to get faster response if you either contact editors listed in Category:Wikipedians by language, or ask at the respective wikis. The helpme template only lists users into a category, and reports to the IRC channel, where as far as I know nobody speaks those languages. Please let me know if you have any questions :) Bjelleklang - talk Bug Me 03:25, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Revert AGF on Treasure of Delta College by 80.134.197.248[edit]

Hi Wimt. Could you please tell me how page blanking can be considered an AGF edit? I am with CVU and in most cases, we consider page blanking as Vandalism. Could you let me know whether you meant to tag it as a Good Faith edit, since I warned the IP as I did not consider it so. Thanks! Thor Malmjursson 22:41, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey - yeah I totally agree with you that blanking is almost always an editing test or vandalism and so certainly wouldn't merit the assumption of good faith. However, you will note in the case of Treasure of Delta College, it was made by one editor and then tagged for speedy deletion. An anon IP then came along and then blanked the page. In cases such as these, I tend to assume good faith because the anons are often trying to delete the article (as the tag states) but obviously going about it in all the wrong ways. Of course, I may have been wrong in that case as I see you have since given the anon a warning for spamming. Hope that explains my choice of edit summary. Regards. Will (aka Wimt) 22:47, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's chill, Will. Thanks - I added the CSD G11 to the article cause it looked like it was advertising some sort of event, which I believe it was. Some IP's can try and be helpful, but I wish they would use the edit summary like everyone (or near everyone) else does! Thanks again. Thor Malmjursson 22:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC) (aka Thor). "TM and ©"[edit]

Thank you for posting the UK site alleging not only a trademark but a copyright (1984, 2004) on the word "Ghostbusters", following the discovery that in the US the trademark covers only the logo (with art) and not the word alone, while titles can't be copyrighted at all. UK and US laws may indeed have diverged more than I had hitherto imagined.

In the UK list, I see the entry just above also asserts a "TM" and "©" (undated) on the name "JASON", while further below the same claim is made for "ROBOTS" ("TM" and "© 2005"). The legal implications are fascinating.

However, I retain some trenchant doubt that these long-pre-existing words have actually been taken out of the public domain, and that UK robot-builders, or UK citizens named "Jason", are subject to lawsuit for violation of trademark or copyright. -- BenTALK/HIST 15:17, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suicide[edit]

I have read the edits and the discussion about this. I thought this was ongoing as a few days. Didn't know its been 10 hours. Well I don't know. it is a tough one. It could be real it may not be. But until evidence arises that it is a hoax, the situation needs to be taken seriously. DragonFire1024 from Wikinews. DragonFire1024 04:20, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE 13th April 2007[edit]

Dear Re-evolution;

It has recently come to my attention that some of the edits on your Userpage may indicate that a second account under a different username is open from your location. This is not in itself a problem, but as part of the Counter Vandalism Unit, I want to remind you that using double accounts under different usernames, known as a Sockpuppet, can raise concerns here. If you do have another account, please read WP:SOCK to familiarise yourself with our rules.

If this message has been incorrectly directed to you, please accept my apologies.

Regards, Thor Malmjursson 04:09, 13 April 2007 (UTC) talk[reply]

Hi Thor;

Since Re-evolution's page is on my watchlist, I noticed that you added this note to him. I suspect that the sock-puppet you are refrerring to me. Note that I was only helping Re-evolution with his userpage.

No offence, --Canadianshoper 04:25, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: Ely Cathedral[edit]

He's still there, don't worry, when I was looking at the template I noticed that there's an option for Subdean, so I moved him up to that slot, to better reflect his role (at least assume Sub-dean and Vice dean are esentially equivalent). Sorry if my edit summary was a bit misleading. David Underdown 13:46, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to redact[edit]

This edit is not quite true. It was I who reported the violation about Raul, not UBeR. He has made no bones about not being respectful to me. When I saw him also abuse UBeR, I thought, enough was enough. A person in his position should set a positive example. Very disappointing. I have told him that directly also. --Blue Tie 05:26, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonation[edit]

Okay, well if one wanted to be Devil's Advocate, one could claim that his name could have been Jimbo, or at least his nickname was Jimbo; but only if he claimed to be the same Jimbo Wales as the founder of Wiki, could he be accused of impersonation. None of that matter so much to me. I have never attended those chats. Good luck, tho --Thus Spake Anittas 16:06, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jimbo Wales impersonation[edit]

I don't think that there is much reason to worry. After all, Jimbo Wales has an IRC cloak which gives his username when you do a WHOIS on it. Jimbo also has a specific nickname which was different than the one that showed up in IRC. If the impersonation persists, we can just ban the nicks as they come in and deal with it on a case-by-case basis. // PTO 23:59, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • We had to get Christel Dahlskjær to KLine last nights idiot. If you see this wonderboy again, can you WHOIS him and get an IP and / or hostmask - we banned him from channel last night and he went to another channel. Christel is prepared to KLine anyone who comes in impersonating Jimbo. Thanks... Thor Malmjursson 00:28, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Times letter.[edit]

I now it's now been sent, but you might also have mentioned the WP:BLP guidelines ShakespeareFan00 13:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did Robert Steadman ever edit Wikipedia? well he got himself indef blocked twice, partly for editing his own article (including the use of sock-puppets) and persistent failure to get along with other editors - of all the people to attack Wikipedia... On second thoughts, mgith jsut be worth ensuring that the Foundation are aware of the connection - and I'm sure there is one as the Times letter gives his location as Matlock. David Underdown 14:10, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I thought it was a good letter, I see it is on the Times website - hopefuly in black and white tomorrow morning. Regarding David Underdown's point above - I think the foundation are fully aware of posible connections but as usual they prefer to sit back and do nothing. Giano 21:34, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Congratulations - I see you are indeed in print this morning. Giano 06:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rafa Nadal tennis[edit]

If you were to look on the website, you would see the game is actually properly entitled Rafa Nadal tennis - this means the article on Rafael Nadal Tennis (which infact is shorter than Rafa nadal tennis) should be either deleted or merged, not the other way round. So, if anything, Rafael Nadal tennis is the article you should be noming for deletion. Thanks, —ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 02:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please remove the speedy deletion tag. This article in no way meets the speedy deletion criteria, and neither does Rafael nadal tennis. Speedy deletion is for things that either infringe copyright, among others. Please see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. —ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 02:42, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see you replied to User:Pendo 4, saying that the speedy deletion tag meant that it may be deleted. Thats not the point. Did you read the speedy deletion criteria in the above message. It specifically states that only articles that are either: patent nonsense (Rafa Nadal tennis is a real game), Pure vandalsim (obviously not Rafa Nadal tennis), 100% plageurised (No thats not Rafa Nadal Tennis), among other extremes such as the aforementioned. Yes, Rafa Nadal tennis is a stub, but it does not qualify for speedy deletion. If you wish to nom it for normal deletion, which is for things alot less severe, then you can, but I think you will find that not many people will agree with you, because all video games that are currently unreleased have a similar amount of content. When the game is actually released, then you should find that it expand sevenfold. I hope now you understand that a speedy deletion tag is completely ridiculous in this situation. Thanks, —ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 22:12, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for realising your mistake, I hope that everything is fine now. And no, there is no animosity between us - you did what you thought was right. I just hope that everything has been sorted appropriately. Cheers, —ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 23:26, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Heard You wanted to know what Tommy Zoom was. It was originally put on the CBeebies programme list because it was featured in the magazine several times, but the show was never aired on CBeebies until March 2007 where it is regularly shown at 5:00pm and if you need to know more, check out its article.
