Transport links
I've noticed that you've recently been adding a table with transport links. I understand the thinking behind this - such links, however, are not encouraged per WP:NOTTRAVEL. In most cases the stations were already discussed in context in article. It is helpful to include some encyclopaedic material on transport in a locality - such as the history of the transport, public debate surrounding the transport, points of note about the architecture of transport buildings, etc. But providing purely touristic material such as nearest stations, timetables or fare prices, is not appropriate. TV Transmitters in South Wales
Thanks you for your contributions to several of my pages on TV transmitters in South Wales - all very welcome! I have a challenge for you, since you've put useful location maps on several pages for me. I've just written Llandrindod Wells transmitting station which has a well complex history of having relayed television from Wenvoe and Preseli in the 405-line era, in addition to Carmel which it relayed in the UHF PAL TV days, and currently does for DVB-T.
I used your examples of location maps cribbed from some of the changes you've made recently, but I'm foxed as to how to add the three parent transmitters to the map as they're all a long way off in different regions of Wales. You can see one of my attempts is left commented-out, but if you comment it in, "Preseli" appears but dropped into the mid-Wales map.
If you can think of a solution, please apply it! I don't think it can be done short of declaring a new "Wales South and Mid" template. I think the whole-of-Wales template is too large-scale to be useful. Any ideas please?? Steve Hosgood (talk) 15:59, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the compliments! I've had the same problem with the odd few transmitter pages as well. I just left the parent transmitter off altogether and keep just that transmitter on the map if it's too far off. I did however enter the relay in the relay section of the infobox. Please note that while the BBC and IBA traditionally called their major sites (among others now owned by Arqiva) 'transmitting stations', this was not normally the case with either the smaller broadcast relays or BT-owned sites. Hey - enough with the mediaeval measurements please
I appreciate many tidy ups and improvements that you've put into the TV transmitter pages for south Wales, but can I request that you stop "helpfully converting" my perfectly good information about distances from relay transmitters to parent transmitters, altitudes above sea level etc. I will have written these things in metres or kilometres for a reason: British maps are (and have been for years) metric. If I say that (say) St Dogmaels relay is about 1.4 km from the old 405-line mast further up the hill, it's because that's what you get when you stick a ruler on the map, count how many mm apart the two points are and multiply by 25000 (or whatever the map scale is).
I really consider that someone changing my numbers to claim that the distance is 0.87 miles is bl**dy vandalising the article! Likewise sticking a "convert" template around the site-height. All that does is contribute pointless clutter: the contours on the maps are in metres dammit, what's point in knowing what that is in feet or Royal Egyptian cubits? No-one uses feet any more in the UK except the Department of Transport. And they're just idiots.
Please stick to what you've been doing well recently. Don't make perfectly good modern articles look like they date from the 1920's.

Could you please put the Purdown BT tower back where it was, as well as fixing your earlier page move to Alexandra Palace television station. In future, it would be much more helpful if you suggested these proposed page moves on the talk page first. - Just to follow up on this - I'm not sure why you, Bbb2007, got this notice in your userpage, I think I originally created the article. Hi: Just thought you might like to know that someone has taken exception to me writing pages about "mere" TV relay stations and proposes Cwm Twrch transmitting station for deletion. Now, OK, Cwm Twrch is just a minor relay, but surely it would be silly to have wikipedia not carry articles containing useful, referenced info about such things. I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Fixing redirects
Hello. I noticed you'd "fixed" a lot of redirects in Darlington F.C. and Darlington 1883, piping links to point to the exact current targets. You could save yourself a lot of work by having a look at the editing guideline WP:REDIRECT#Do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken, which starts off by saying:
- There is nothing inherently wrong with linking to redirects to articles. Some editors are tempted, upon finding a link to a redirect page, to bypass the redirect and point the link directly at the target page. While there are a limited number of cases where this is beneficial, it is generally an unhelpful exercise, and it can actually be detrimental. With a few limited exceptions, there are no good reasons to pipe links solely to avoid redirects.

Alexandria Palace TV
I was wondering if I might bother you for a bit of information I'm finding hard to locate. I know that EMI built an experimental TV receiver for BBC service in 1936, which I assume means it had to be for transmissions from Alexandria Palace - were there other stations at that time? In any event, this receiver was later used for experimental radar sets. However, the early CH systems worked at about 6.7 m wavelength. I'd like to confirm this number, do you have any information on the frequency of the Alexandria Palace broadcasts in ref-able form??

Regarding your edits to the results table at Minardi, please be aware that until 2000, non-scoring drivers and teams were not classified in the World Championship.
