Empty categories

Hello, Bearcat,

Just a reminder that we tag empty categories CSD C1 and they sit for 7 days in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion before they are deleted unless the page creator requests deletion CSD G7. It is not uncommon for a category to be temporarily empty and for us to untag it before the 7 days has elapsed. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:57, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

End of a non-reoffering MPs term

Hey, I know you're very knowledgeable about the byzantine workings of parliament and parliamentary terms, but I'm a little unsure about this one. You say that a non-reoffering MP's term ends at the writ drop, but I checked PARLINFO and it consistently uses the day before the election (September 19) as the end of their term (eg: McKenna, Stanton, Qaqqaq). Is there some other source for this? — Kawnhr (talk) 23:51, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Hey, Bearcat,

I hope you are well. I was looking at this AfD and noticed that the page creator, Ivan Milenin, didn't receive a notice that the AfD was happening. He edited the article after you tagged it so he saw the AfD tag on the page but he didn't receive a talk page notice. I noticed that you used Twinkle to tag the page so you might check your Preferences so that "Notify page creator" box is checked. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 04:22, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Clear Sky Radio stations indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Happy First Edit Day!

Category:WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams

Hi there. I ask that you revert your edits in which you deleted the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams category from dozens of articles. I couldn't create the category that day but now I will. Thanks. Nordschleife 00 (talk) 18:47, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Bearcat,

I saw you recently restored this PROD'd article. The same editor tagged Ira Basen, another Canadian journalist, which was PROD'd at the same time. I thought since you were interested in Kennedy, you might want to look over the Basen article as well. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 21:51, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Repeated Draftification

I have a question that maybe you can answer. I see that you have been moving articles from article space to draft space that are not ready for article space, and I agree. However, my question has to do with cases where the author is persistent, and moves the article to article space again, unilaterally rather than by review, after it was already draftified once, or even twice. My interpretation, which may be mistaken, is that an article should only be moved to draft space once, and that if the author insists on moving it to mainspace, it should either be accepted as an article or sent to AFD. So my question is how many times can it be moved back to draft space, and how those of us who are trying to maintain quality can avoid move-warring. Is there a guideline as to when it is and when it is not move-warring? It is a lot less work to move an article to draft space than to write an AFD, and I am wondering if there is a policy basis for pushing these puff pieces back to draft space more than once, rather than taking them to AFD. Thank you for cleaning up categories

Hi Bearcat, Thank you for cleaning up the categories on the articles I created! That is a lot of work and I am grateful (and learned more about how the mysteries of categorization work). Cheers! Netherzone (talk) 13:24, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

"CFML" listed at Redirects for discussion

A discussion is taking place to address the redirect CFML. The discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 October 26#CFML until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. — WILDSTARtalk 10:14, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Bearcat! What is the shortest path to deletion of redirects CFML and Cfml so that CFML (disambiguation) can do what it was intended to do? Thank you! — WILDSTARtalk 13:44, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @WildStar: What you want is a decision that ColdFusion Markup Language is not the WP:Primary Topic for the letters "CFML" (in which case the dab page would be moved to that title). I'm not sure where that discussion would have to take place, but I think it is pretty unlikely that the decision would go that way, looking at the results of searching on that term either in Wikipedia or on Google. Ah, perhaps you need to request a page move as a single-page controversial move, to move the disambiguation page from its current title to CFML: see WP:RSPM. Or just relax and accept that the markup language is the primary topic and the dab page is now clearly linked from it by hatnote, and is doing what it ought to be doing, disambiguating the two non-primary uses. Or revert to the version where they were both linked in a single hatnote, and delete the unnecessary dab page. PamD 14:35, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
  • @Bearcat: Re your comment here: no, looking at the history, when it was turned into a redirect a hatnote to the one then existing radio article was added, and was always there until the hatnote was removed by Wildstar yesterday. It certainly looks to me as if the markup language is the primary topic, so I disagree with your statement that the dab page should be at the base name here, and would oppose. PamD 14:50, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
PamD, I was hoping for equal weight for all three articles, but agree with you that such an outcome would not easily come to pass. Returning to where I had both CFML-FM and CFIX (AM) linked in a single hatnote, and deleting the dab page would also seem more favorable (one less click). — WILDSTARtalk 17:01, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
