April 2012[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Agile software development. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Comment from BenLinders: Apologies, I wasn´t aware that the link I added would be considered inappropriate. The article on my blog that I referred to discusses my opinion on how the CMMI V1.3 support agile. I´ve had feedback from several readers on my blog post, including people from the SEI. Therefor I considered my blog post to be useful information, that I wanted to share via wikipedia.

I have added a welcome notice above; it's a bit late but it contains some useful links to Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Of particular interest are the Conflict of interest, What Wikipedia is not, Identifying reliable sources, and External links guidelines.

Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a directory, so though your list may be useful, I do not think its inclusion is compliant with Wikipedia guidelines. If you disagree, I think your best course would be to propose your addition on the talk page and otherwise follow the advice at WP:COI. Retrospective[edit]

Thank you for your attempt to improve Retrospective. However, while the material you added had a creative Commons license it was the variant with the noncommercial clause, so it is not acceptable for inclusion in Wikipedia.--S Philbrick (Talk) 12:41, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

BenLinders, Did you follow the link? You are free to donate it although it's a bit of work and probably not worth the effort. Wikipedia is dependent on published reliable sources and your blog post won't qualify as a published reliable source. Thus, if you provide the appropriate license it won't be removed as a copyright violation but it will be removed as not supported by published reliable sources, unless you can provide such sources. It might be easier to simply rewrite and incorporate reliable sources. Or you can arrange for the license and add the necessary reliable sources but be aware that if you don't have reliable sources to back up the material you wrote it can be removed. Ok, clear, thanks for explaining how this works. I won't be going through the process of adding reliable resources and donating text, mainly because I feel unable to judge if a resource is reliable.
