RE: placeholder images

The outcome of the centralised discussion last year was a recommendation that "Image placeholders should not be used on article pages", though I recognise that there is also no concensus for their wholesale removal. With regard to Harisu, I have used my discretion to determine that a free image is not likely to be forthcoming. Your belief that "For BLP's and people who have lived after 1950s it's quite likely images can be found" is a rather sweeping generalisation which will be far more true of some articles than it will of others. We can agree to disagree on this. That discussion was summarized more accurately at the bottom of that page as being no clear consensus and placeholders treated on a case by case basis. Hang in there.

User:William M. Connolley is one of the admins who gets frequently mentioned on Wikipedia Review for bad blocks, so this one is no surprise. Really, the only surprise is that another admin was willing to overturn it. The attitude towards unblock requests is to look for a reason not to unblock. For example, one particular sheepy admin admitted that they wouldn't unblock me solely because other admins supported the block. Spotfixer (talk) 17:51, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

For the record I am the one mentioning your concerns in mediation

Hello. You have often expressed the concern that the theory due to Ray Blancahrd is getting too much space dedicated to it, that it is fringe, pseudoscience, WP:CRYSTAL and what not. I do recall, if memory serves, you asking Jokestress to take up this issue. I think you ought to know that I am the one bringing up that issue and trying to be considerate of the POV's of editors like you who are not directly involved in the mediation. While the anti-sexologist/anti-scientist in general clique try not to discuss the issue. [1]

I will also point out the basic agree ment we have on this so far. That to call a theory fringe, we need verifiable, reliable sources which say it is so. We also have general agreement that the source would have to be inside sexology. Just as a biologist cannot call a work of sociology fringe, neither can any of them call a work of sexology fringe. If it is accepted within it's field, and it looks more and more like Blanchard's theory is accepted by many, then we can't write about it that way. Please believe me that if the evidence showed otherwise I would write about it like fringe crakcpot, crank science.--Hfarmer (talk) 17:58, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Actually, all Benjiboi did was to add a {{Wikipedia category}} template to, of all things, a Wikipedia category. That's not vandalism, so I've restored it.
Accusing him of vandalism for this is a mistake, and you need to rectify it immediately. I've analyzed your pattern of behavior, and it looks like you have a history of abusing anti-vandalism templates, making excessive and false allegations, and generally going overboard. You need to stop doing this and start fixing the problems you created. If I were you, I'd start by removing the scare-template here and apologizing. Spotfixer (talk) 17:11, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Agreed it is not vandalism, but i do think it is the wrong template - it is not an admin only cat that does not contain articles. Ainlina didn't say it was vandalism, but that it "did not appear to be constructive", which, if it is the wrong template is semantically true. I'd not use a "warn" template for something like this (no matter the language it uses, due to the transclusion title), but i think both it and the reversion were in good faith. I re-reverted, and made a talk page section there if people still disagree.Yobmod (talk) 07:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Anyway, i'm here to ask Benjeboi (or any page watchers!): if you are around, do you have time to add a support/oppose to my FLC, Gaylactic spectrum awards? The usual FL reviewers are being very slow about reveiwing, and all the relevant wikiprojects are ignoring it. I think the criteria are pretty simple for those with GA/FA experience, and you can see that it is essentially the same as previous FLs i made. Any contribution is appreciated! Minor changes

  1. I put Category:Articles tagged for deletion and rescue on the rescue template,
  2. I also removed the bot page from the talk page, because there is no bot to remove old entries. I replaced it with the category section. Is it possible to make a bot which removes these old entries?

I can't believe you are gone. A lot of editors, especially me, have gone through a hell of a lot more shit than you have here on wikipedia. You have one overturned ban. Wow. That is nothing. I was never blocked. Benjiboi did not assume good faith and with no prior warnings by anyone, gave me a high level warning without giving a reason. I was simply hoping to get an explanation. Yes, it occurred last year, however I was now hoping to have him/her either properly explain his/her actions or remove the warning. I guess if he/she has left I won't be getting an answer. Not sure which page this was or ... worse, if I messaged the wrong person in a string of changes. I'm striking out my warning as it means little now and you seem to be doing plenty good instead. Likely this was meant for a garden variety obvious vandal - "Bush is a fag" or something equally unhelpful - and you hardly seem to be doing that. Indeed, I was very disappointed in the editor(s) who were violating policy and then wikilawyering to support that ... and THEN an admin who backed them up - although arguably they had only limited experience/knowledge ... and THEN another admin who may have been misinterpreting blocking policies. Clearly we should try to work toward policy-compliant articles and mistreating editors in order to not do so seems like a bad idea for the project. Based on my experience I'm concerned that I was hardly the first editor bamboozled in such a manner but I'm not here to entertain the foolish so maybe that article will just have to be flawed for a while. In any case I hope to be around again despite rampant incivility and bad faith by bullies and admins - luckily there are many good people around so I can take a lump or two. -- Banjeboi 03:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

I would love if you could help with Macdonald 80 Shopping Center. Here is the question i asked at the reference desk.

If you could just find me some sources I would be ever grateful, you don't have to implement anything, just point in the right direction.

Can anyone help me find references for Macdonald 80 Shopping Center ?, maybe in the East Bay Express, Contra Costa Times, West County Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Richmond Globe, Richmond Post, KTVU, KRON or any local affiliate of the broadcast channeles, NBC CBS FOX Univisión, etc. Richmond City Council minutes, the developer. Any help would be great!

Banjiobi left the project after continued harrassment, and a bad block, which has since then been reversed. If the article is something you feel which can be saved with references, I would suggest adding {{rescue}} to the article page. Ikip (talk) 13:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Likely you will have to work like a detective to see how the mall was referred to over time and thus what search terms to look for. I would suggest leaning towards business publications and searching for who owned the properties. If there were any notable news items they are likely tied to the anchor tenants at the mall and referred under different names.
