Template help[edit]

Can you format this template such that: {{Cricket graph requests}} or {{Cricket graph requests|usage=nom}} or {{Cricket graph requests|usage=nomination}}produces with the following parameters:

|name=xxx|format=test or |xxx|format=test or |xxx|test produces:

or optional parameter in place of 'name': |sortname=Cbb Abb|format=Test or |sortname=Cbb Abb|Test produces:

or |format=odi or |format=ODI produces:

or |format=t20i or |format=T20I produces:

or |format=all produces:

or |format=Test,T20I produces:

and so on...
or optional parameter: |format=Test|cricinfoid=48114 or |Test|48114 produces:

or optional parameter: |name=xxx|format=Test|note=example note or |Test|48114 produces:
  • xxx (Test)
    Note:Example note by ~~~ at ~~~~~

For example: {{Cricket graph requests|sortname=Ross Taylor|Test,ODI|38699|Note for Taylor}} or {{Cricket graph requests|sortname=Ross Taylor|format=Test,ODI|cricinfoid=38699|note=Note for Taylor}} should produce:

{{Cricket graph requests|usage=suspend}}produces with the following parameters:

|usage=suspend|reason=Example reason produces:
Suspended: Example reason ~~~~

If no parameters are specified then display an error message: 'no parameters specified'.

Please help, extra999 (talk) 07:20, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done, see {{CGR}} and it's documentation page :) benzband (talk) 17:36, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but |format_2=xxx</code> is not working. And can you do the note th way I did: in <br><small>Note:<span style="color:#736F6E">Example note</span> , and do you take interest in cricket. extra999 (talk) 02:24, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And there's some problem in the heading, please fix it. Note that I don't want it for suspension. extra999 (talk) 02:58, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed |format_2= and |note=. I don't know much about cricket, except from H2G2. I've temporarily removed the heading which was unproperly formatted so if you could explain further about it i can put it back but right now i couldn't see what you were getting at. Cheers, benzband (talk) 15:26, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I want the section heading with the |name=xxx parameter showing up as ===xxx=== but not for suspension. extra999 (talk) 01:32, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And |format=test |format_2=odi produces (Test)(ODI), is it possible to change it (Test · ODI) ? extra999 (talk) 01:42, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. benzband (talk) 15:01, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no, I did not meant that, it does produce Test or ODI or (Test · ODI), perhaps it was better previously. extra999 (talk) 04:50, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just made some minor adjustments. benzband (talk) 07:56, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, this is what i wanted, thanks :) extra999 (talk) 13:49, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possible to {{Cricket graph requests|usage=suspend|reason=xxx}} and {{Cricket graph requests|usage=suspend|xxx}} be made the same thing. And {{Cricket graph requests|usage=suspend|fixture=Indian cricket team in Australia in 2011–12}} produces equivalent to {{Cricket graph requests|usage=suspend|reason=Due to the ongoing matches on the tour of the [[Indian cricket team in Australia in 2011–12]]}}. After edits by Jfd34, the |cricinfoid=xxx was not in the <nowiki><span class="plainlinks"> code and the error message is distorted. extra999 (talk) 18:53, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done benzband (talk) 09:00, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But when used with signature, it produces a 3-4 line gap. ex:

extra999 (talk) 09:26, 3 June 2012 (UTC) [reply]

Fixed it was either that or having the error go bezerk:
no parameters specified
benzband (talk) 09:42, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, let the error be bezerk, any idea what this problem?? extra999 (talk) 09:47, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A space at the start of a line… i'll look into it. benzband (talk) 10:40, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please make |format 2= , |format_2= , |format2= producing the same thing. extra999 (talk) 17:32, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you see what's the problem at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cricket/Graphs/Requests#Suspended? extra999 (talk) 17:31, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done the format 2/_2/2, but the latter problem isn't quite solved. benzband (talk) 18:02, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you make a doc for this template. extra999 (talk) 07:33, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. benzband (talk) 16:06, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
thanks :) extra999 (talk) 16:09, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please make |4= equivalent to |cricinfoid= extra999 (talk) 19:07, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done: diff. benzband (talk) 14:53, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
but i still wanted it to be optional like |note extra999 (talk) 15:04, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
it is optional. isn't? benzband (talk) 15:06, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Inter[national]view and lists[edit]

No Ben, I don't wanna participate in any interview (not at the moment). I'm really busy... but thank you so very much.
About "da list", I've sent countless messages in the past, and I've used: User:Pjoef/Sandbox/WPs#List_of_wikipedians_to_be_invited and User:Pjoef/Sandbox/WPs#Help_Request (see: [1] for the code). "Da list", which merges all the participants to MOTD with all the users who are displaying one (or more) MOTD's templates on their userpages, is not updated on a regular basis, just when time permits and now is not the time for me to update it :).

I'm currently making notes on a hoax article (which I spent many hours researching myself, but I guess this is about the 'Wikify' project hehe. I'm a bit of a stickler for things, but I always try to do the non-glorifying and desperately needed backlog work. Thanks for noticing though! ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:54, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In other words, you are a gnome (like me) May the backlogs tremble in your wake, benzband (talk) 17:02, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Basically, yes. Take a look at my post at the AFD. [2] Quite detailed? I don't make many pages, but I look into matters carefully when needed. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's really fine work! I've added a little contribution to the article hoping it helps it survive the AfD process. (PS. sorry for the late reply, my internet connection has been down) benzband (talk) 18:18, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually... I'm trying to remove that hoax. The details it gives are wrong, the account is more then likely crafted fairly recently and it flies in the face of actual details about the battle and its flow. Namely that the actual and future-named Fort Walker was 3 miles to the south/south-west of the position and was not actually occupied that day by any forces. Though it did need some work either way... in case of undelete or whatever. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 18:26, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"Surviving" may just mean a redirect or a rewrite. benzband (talk) 18:28, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Tea Leaf - Issue Four[edit]

Hi! Welcome to the fourth issue of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter for the Teahouse!

  • Teahouse pilot wraps up after 13 weeks After being piloted on English Wikipedia starting in February, the Teahouse wrapped up its pilot period on May 27, 2012. We expect this is just the beginning for the Teahouse and hope the project will continue to grow in the months to come!

Thank you and congratulations to all of the community members who participated - and continue to participate!

  • What you've all been waiting for: Teahouse Pilot Report is released! We look forward to your feedback on the methodology and outcomes of this pilot project.
  • ....and if a pilot report wasn't enough, the Teahouse Pilot Metrics Report is out too! Dive into the numbers and survey results to learn about the impact the Teahouse has made on English Wikipedia.
  • Teahouse shows positive impact on new editor retention and engagement
  • 409 new editors participated during the entire pilot period, with about 40 new editors participating in the Teahouse per week.
  • Two weeks after participating, 33% of Teahouse guests are still active on Wikipedia, as opposed to 11% of a similar control group.
  • New editors who participated in the Teahouse edit 10x the number of articles, make 7x more global edits, and 2x as much of their content survives on Wikipedia compared to the control group.
  • Women participate in the Teahouse 28% of Teahouse participants were women, up from 9% of editors on Wikipedia in general, good news for this project which aimed to have impact on the gender gap too - but still lots to be done here!
  • New opportunities await for the Teahouse in phase two as the Teahouse team and Wikipedia community examine ways to improve, scale, and sustain the project. Opportunities for future work include:
  • Automating or semi-automating systems such as invites, metrics and archiving
  • Experimenting with more ways for new editors to discover the Teahouse
  • Building out the social and peer-to-peer aspects further, including exploring ways to make answering questions easier, creating more ways for new editors to help each other and for all participants to acknowledge each other's efforts
  • Growing volunteer capacity, continuing to transfer Teahouse administration tasks to volunteers whenever possible, and looking for new ways to make maintenance and participation easier for everyone.
  • Want to know how you can lend a hand at the Teahouse? Become a host! Learn more about what makes the Teahouse different than other help spaces on Wikipedia and see how you can help new editors by visiting here.
  • Say hello to the new guests at the Teahouse. Take the time to welcome and get to know the latest guests at the Teahouse. Drop off some wikilove to these editors today, as being welcomed by experienced editors is really encouraging to new Wikipedians.

You are receiving The Tea Leaf after expressing interest or participating in the Teahouse! To remove yourself from receiving future newsletters, please remove your username here. Sarah (talk) 16:38, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Toilet[edit]

I cannot believe your POV conflict warning to toilet was reverted. I am sorely tempted to restore it. ʝunglejill 08:01, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know it doesn't directly concern me, but I don't see a warning in the history of toilet and I'm a bit curious as to what the actual article was. Ryan Vesey Review me! 08:05, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I managed to put it back a second time on April Fool's day but it didn't last long… either Wikipedians have lost their sense of humour either they are in violation of the POV warning (and so understandably don't wish the banner to be displayed). benzband (talk) 08:47, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re Rudy Buttignol. Help re checking recent changes from <refs> to external links, What's Webreflinks? And my funny link symbol.[edit]

Hello again benzband, I would have put this entry onto Tea House but I couldn't find it for some reason as I have used it before.

I have changed all of my URLs from <ref> to [link]. I figure that this was the best thing to do as links are not sources. This information that I have "linked" is only available electronically.

I have also beefed up the references by adding 2 books and some newspaper (and other) articles.

I tried to understand about Webreflinks but couldn't comprehend much. I understand about the fluidity of websites that may be here today and gone tomorrow. Does Webreflinks somehow capture the webpage that I am referring to?

There is a note at the top of the Rudy Buttignol page: "This article uses bare URLs for citations. Please consider adding full citations so that the article remains verifiable. Several templates and the Reflinks tool are available to assist in formatting. (Reflinks documentation) (June 2012)" Can this be removed now that I have changed the URLs to links?

There is a funny symbol after three of the links and I don't know how to turn them into numbered links. Career paragraph # 3:

  1. after The View from Here
  2. after Dying at Grace (2003)
  3. after Academy of Cinema and Television

Thanks for any help.

sofiabrampton Sofiabrampton (talk) 02:38, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have converted those links into references, and grouped them as notes [note 1] [note 2] (see this diff). You will notice they appear as a separate set of footnotes from the other references, at the bottom of the page under a section called "notes".
I placed a {{linkrot}} tag on the article because of the bare URLs being used as references (which may in turn lead to link rot). Now, you can use Webreflinks to collect information on those URLs and add it to them, but i would suggest first reading the documentation available at User:Dispenser/Reflinks to get an idea of how it works.
BTW, i noticed some formatting problems with your posts on Uzma Gamal and my talkpages (which i fixed, here and here) :
  • when mentioning markup such as <ref>, be sure to surround it with <nowiki> </nowiki> tags like this: <nowiki><ref></nowiki>. if you don't do this it will go ahead and behave as it was programmed to (creating a reference)
  • when creating lists, you can use * for bulleted lists and # for numbered lists (see Help:List)
Hope this helps, benzband (talk) 08:46, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, benzband, and that you so much for the help with all of my questions and issues regarding the above post. Thanks for the fixing of "Rudy Buttignol." Webrot is an interesting term!
I'll have a look at "Rudy Buttignol" now. And I will really try to digest "User:Dispenser/Reflinks.
I can't express how much I appreciate your mentoring. I feel like I am learning a new language as I learn about Wikipedia.
Cheers! sofiabrampton ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sofiabrampton (talkcontribs) 13:32, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello once more, benzband.
I just had a look at "Rudy Buttignol". Thanks for the things that you organized.
I noticed a fragment of a Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). in Careers Para 2 related to the Canadian Film Encyclopedia which is only available online. I went ahead and changed it to a external [link]. I must have missed it last night when I was making the other changes. Did I do the right thing today? Will you have to do something to get it into the "Notes"?
But now I don't know what to do. I noticed that in whatever magic you did to make the "Notes" section on top of the "References" section, and to number the notes, that the text in the "edit" version of Rudy Buttignol looks like the <ref> notations are back. My brain hurts! For example, the Career section para 6 is full of URLs that seem to be "bare" as they still appear under the "Reference" section. How can I get them all up into the "Notes" section (assuming that this is the right place for them)? When this is comleted can that notice on top of the page regarding "bare URLs and Reflink" come off?
Sorry that I am so dense! I've read the reflinks article that you referred to me but I think that I will have to read it over and over before it sinks in to any degree!
Thanks again for any help. I really don't know what to do now!
sofiabrampton ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sofiabrampton (talkcontribs) 14:11, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I have ran the Reflinks tool on Rudy Buttignol (diff), which has put the bare urls into templates and added some extra info such as the date and publisher; in addition to removing the {{linkrot}} tag.
To put a reference into the "notes" group all you need to do is enclose the reference in <ref group=note> ref text here </ref> instead of <ref> ref text here </ref>. You can find out more about this at WP:REFGROUP.
Also i just noticed that according to the article, it's Rudy's 62nd birthday today… :) benzband (talk) 14:20, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Benzband,
Thanks for the code for how to turn URLs into notes. I just did one and am really happy!
And thanks for doing your magic again re reflinks. It may take me a bit more time before I understand how this works.
You have helped me immensely.
So what happens to "Rudy Buttignol" now? (I don't have much more info to add at this point.)
And right you are about it being Rudy Buttignol's birthday today. I will find him on FB and send a birthday wish.
Please advise me about next steps to getting this article onto Wikipedia.
Thanks again,
sofiabrampton ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sofiabrampton (talkcontribs) 15:28, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the {{underconstruction}} tag then (if have more to add, by all means do so). And BTW congratulations, for you have created a new fully-fledged Wikipedia article. You can see the viewer statistics here. benzband (talk) 16:22, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And all of this on "Rudy Buttignol"'s birthday! I hope that he sees it somehow.

Thanks again for your help, benzband.

Indeed, it's out on the internet now. And, Wikipedia can be hard work at times but think of all the people reading your article… and that you are contributing the world's largest (and free-est) encyclopedia! :-) All the best! benzband (talk) 18:19, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You, Ben (^____^)!!! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:30, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copy the code from User:Pjoef/vector.css to the Custom CSS file of your Skin (probably User:Benzband/vector.css, if you are using the Vector skin) and then try the following:

I hope you are not using Internet Exploiter because CSS transition does NOT work in IE.

It looks good and runs on Firefox (13.0.1), Opera (12.00), Safari (5.1.7), and Google Chrome (19.0.1084.56) (^____^). Probably you already know, but this is a good website with a tutorial, and many examples and all the references about CSS3, and more. BEST! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 15:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

French WikiProject Cycling[edit]

Let's get this party started! I've drawn up some interview questions here. Feel free to add questions you'd like to see or tweak the existing questions to make them easier to translate. Keep in mind that the longer we make the interview, the more translating we'll have to do. I assume we'll want to translate the questions before we contact the project's members for responses. For reference, the project's page is located here. Thanks for volunteering to work on this article. Let's make it a good one! -Mabeenot (talk) 18:00, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll start translating right now, then maybe someone can review for a second opinion? benzband (talk) 18:02, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. -Mabeenot (talk) 18:14, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For the second opinion, try fr:Utilisateur:Vlaam who is a member of the French project and knows English. -Mabeenot (talk) 18:24, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The translation is at the interview page, and i have left a message to Vlaam. benzband (talk) 18:48, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like we're ready to go. We'll need a message to post on the project's talk page and the talk pages of the project's most active editors. I've edited my standard message but feel free to change it:
The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Cycling for an article to be published in the English Wikipedia's weekly newspaper, the Signpost. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 16:34, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Bonjour!
↑ translation. However i never got a return from Vlaam (although he has been active recently and has answered other queries on his talkpage… except for mine). benzband (talk) 20:27, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: MOTD: Special August 21[edit]

It's great, because I celebrate every year JOE's birthday!
Here are some quotes and interviews by JOE, and songs lyrics he wrote or dedicated to JOE that we could use:

"Never Forgotten, Always an Inspiration, Always Missed!"

"I'd like to say that people people can change anything they want to; and that means everything in the world. Show me any country and there'll be people in it. And it's the people that make the country. People have got to stop pretending they're not on the world. People are running about following their little tracks. I am one of them. But we've all gotta stop just stop following our own little mouse trail. People can do anything; this is something that I'm beginning to learn. People are out there doing bad things to each other; it's because they've been dehumanized. It's time to take that humanity back into the centre of the ring and follow that for a time. Greed... it ain't going anywhere! They should have that on a big billboard across Times Square. Think on that. Without people you're nothing." —at the beginning of "Redemption Song"

"And so now I'd like to say — people can change anything they want to. And that means everything in the world. People are running about following their little tracks — I am one of them. But we've all got to stop just following our own little mouse trail. People can do anything — this is something that I'm beginning to learn. People are out there doing bad things to each other. That's because they've been dehumanised. It's time to take the humanity back into the center of the ring and follow that for a time. Greed, it ain't going anywhere. They should have that in a big billboard across Times Square. Without people you're nothing." —at the end of The Future is Unwritten

"All the power's in the hands of people rich enough to buy it." —Strummer/Jones, "White Riot", The Clash (1977)

"London Calling — Yes, I was there, too, and you know what they said? Well some of it was true. London Calling at the top of the dial... and after all this, won't you give me a smile?" —Strummer/Jones, "London Calling", London Calling (1979)

"you have the right not to be killed, unless it was done by a policeman or an aristocrat" —The Clash, "Know Your Rights", Combat Rock (1982)

"No man's land. There ain't no asylum here. King Solomon he never lived 'round here." —The Clash, "Straight to Hell", Combat Rock (1982)

"Authority is supposedly founded on wisdom. But I worked out from an early age that authority was just another form of control, and there wasn't any inherent wisdom"

"We were brought up to believe that science and engineering were going to make the world a better place. Now we've got pollution and everything and it seems we've come to a halt. But I think we've got to retain some faith in believing tomorrow will be better than today."

"You gotta be able to go out there and do it for yourself. No one's gonna give it to you."

"When you blame yourself, you learn from it. If you blame someone else, you don't learn nothing, cause hey, it's not your fault, it's his fault, over there."

"Everyone has got to realise you can't hold onto the past if you want any future. Each second should lead to the next one."

"People have told me songs I've written have changed their life. That's remarkable. That keeps your faith."

"Feeling lucky punk? Oh, good."

"My motto is, 'What's the hurry?' I'm trying to get it across to the modern world that we need to sit around and think a little bit more."

"The Future is Unwritten!"

"Whether it's jazz or punk or anything else, you have to fight against the purists who want to narrow the definition. That's what kills music because it stifles it to death."

"If I had five million pounds I'd start a radio station because something needs to be done. It would be nice to turn on the radio and hear something that didn't make you feel like smashing up the kitchen and strangling the cat."

"We deal in junk, you know; what we've got is what other people put in the rubbish bin."

"The way you get a better world is, you don't put up with substandard anything.
...
The music has to be by the musicians, and there's too much changing things by the record company. I got a message for everyone in a record company: We don't care if you lose your job! You ruin music and I'll get all the smoothers out off the way, the people who smooth the sound off.
...
Let the musicians have the music the way they want it, and not the way you think the grandmothers and 3-year olds will gonna buy it. 'Cause this is not about 3-year olds or grandmothers... This is Rock and Roll!" —Joe Strummer, Interview at Bizarre Festival, Germany, 21th August 1999

"I will always believe in punk-rock, because it's about creating something for yourself. Part of it was: 'Stop being a sap! Lift your head up and see what is really going on in the political, social and religious situations, and try and see through all the smoke screens.
We can at least be optimistic in (that) it forces the renegades and the underground to get it together. The worse sh*t gets, the more interesting the underground becomes. So I'm always quite hopeful. I believe in human beings. Human beings won't let this happen. We won't all end up robots working for McGiant Corp or whatever. It can't happen." —Joe Strummer, July 2002

"You will be singing in our blood Joe / You will be dancing like speed in our veins" —Dave Lordan, "In Our Blood: Tribute to Joe Strummer" by Radical Picnic

"I'll tell you something. When you see you become part of the cycle of generations, you lose your ego in the process, because you ain't nothin' special. You're just another cipher in the generations. When you devote all your interest into another person, you lose your self-obsession, and that's when you understand what it is. You don't know (anything) without that moment. You don't want anything to harm this helpless being. That's a fantastic change. And that's when you understand what's happening. I never understood anything until my first baby looked at me. I didn't understand (anything). Now I understand." —Joe Strummer, Los Angeles Times, 31 January 1988

"I've got no doubt the fourth dimension exists.
But is it just like the world we're trying to escape from?
I need to know if you're allowed to smoke in there..."

"I sometimes look at myself, I'm sitting with a biro and a cigarette packet, desperately scrawling dribble on it. And sometimes I put down my fag pack and think, what am I, a grown man, doing at this hour of the night? Then I banish that thought, pick the fag pack up again."

"I'm no expert on these musics. I try and keep an ear out and keep an open mind and enjoy something where I don't know what the hell is going on inside of it. That's what I really get out of it. Because to me it's new. That's what I get out of it. That joyful feeling of you don't know what's going to happen next." —VH1.com

"Anyway, it's good to be sent back to the underground. There's always a good side to bad things and the good side to this is that at least everyone has to go back down."

The following are more "appropriate" for the 22nd of December :'(''''':

"hello hello Joe / I am not the only one / I am not the only one / It's not over it's just begun / I try to sing along... / I got it playing on my stereo / I'm never ever gonna let it go / hello hello joe" —Beatsteaks, "Hello Joe"

"As soon as the sun went down, / up all night we were flying high / 'til we got the wake-up call. / There's no Garageland no more. / We're left with memories lying on the floor. / (Did you believe what they said?) / Hear the sound of hate and war. / Death or Glory — we survived it all." —Die Toten Hosen, "Goodbye Garageland"

"She had to go, she had to go simply because, / simply because, and I let her go, I let her go like / she never was, like she never was cause I didn't / know, cause I didn't know and I don't care what / she does, simply because, she had to go cause / she didn't know who Joe Strummer was, Joe / Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer / was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe / Strummer was, Joe Strummer was" —Cowboy Mouth, "Joe Strummer"

"Raise a toast to St. Joe Strummer / I think he might've been our only decent teacher" —The Hold Steady, "Constructive Summer"

"Goodbye inspiration / Voice of a generation / Goodbye Inspiration / I won't be playing Strummerville again" —Stiff Little Fingers, "Strummerville"

"He was the strongest of men, a real inspirational leader, a guy who never seemed to tire of listening to people and talking to them, learning and teaching all the time. He had true compassion for everyone he met. He was the nicest and also the most fun loving person I've known." —Bob Gruen, Photographer

"There's nothing but bad news in the newspapers to make us live in a constant state of paranoia. That's what they want because it keeps people in fear."

"We're all going to have to learn to live together and develop a greater tolerance and get rid off whatever our fathers gave us in the way of hatred between nations."

"Everything's fucked! It's down to individual people to make life enjoyable. I don't have anything more to say than that. I think people should avoid the world fucking them up. People are becoming too uptight, treating their children bad, being negative.
...
I hate it when I go out and I see parents going, 'don't do that', or 'stop doing that' when some kid's just hanging off a staircase or something. There's too much of this, 'don't do that'. The whole thing baffles me." —Joe Strummer, 1999

"To write good songs you have to be somewhere between a genius and a village idiot."

"Do you know those shots from above a rocket gantry, especially those Sixties, early-color shots of Cape Kennedy or Cape Canaveral? There's that moment after they count down, 'Three, two, one...' when clouds of smoke billow from the rocket and then it begins to thrust and burn a whole in the atmosphere — that would be the feeling of a Clash show. And it would seem about that length of time too."

I've "tons of this kind of materials" that make me cry like a baby, and also, I've "resurrected" his page on Wikiquote (it was deleted sH∀ ǝɯos ʎq, so I decided to recreate it), and there are some more quotes of Joe on my user page there.
I think we should choose one frome the above, and keep the rest for years to come.
Best! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 16:39, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All the three nominations and their links seem good to me! "The Future Is Unwritten" and "Ignore Alien Orders" are also good. Aren't?
Thank You, Ben! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 15:02, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The way you want. Maybe it is better to nominate them for the regular section? ►–pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:04, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TB[edit]

TB for Wikipedia_talk:STiki#Update . Dude your ARchive box doesnt allow me to use TB on twinkle you need to move the File Drawer to another place ;-) --DBigXray 12:47, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lol i hadn't noticed that before… :-P it also means nobody can welcome, CSD, XFD, or RPP me either xD benzband (talk) 13:03, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, All it does is to stop TB and Welcome tabs and it still does, even after your tweak. I Suggest, you can move the whole Icon bar to the left. Blocking TB will get you a lot of curses, trust me --DBigXray 14:02, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
benzband (talk) 14:22, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And btw it stops me doing anything except admin report and user warning. However, if you open the "edit" tab then you can use Twinkle freely. benzband (talk) 14:24, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Opening the edit box kills the whole point of using TB. the main benefit of TB is you dont need to type or open anything. Neverthless you are the King :) here, and you call the shots not me :) regards--DBigXray 14:30, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i've fixed it now. :-) benzband (talk) 15:33, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Much Better. I had almost decided to ignore this talk page --DBigXray 15:42, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah well you see it was all because of a piece of code (z-index:100;) lurking in the topicons, which was left over from a copy-paste but i haden't removed in case it caused some awful layout bashing. But then again we all know how much of a pain these obscure bits of code can be… benzband (talk)
  • Yup agreed. I particularly liked your last TB, I must admit it brought a smile on me, so here it is, for you as well. --DBigXray 16:38, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
