F13 Sequel

Someone added that there will be a sequel to the new F13. I got rid of the section because there was no refs and like the halloween article if there is a sequel coming out it should go on the franchise page. maybe someone could look up on Shock til you drop if there is a sequel--Darkness2light (talk) 17:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

I heard they were making a new Freddy vs Jason as the sequel so we will have to look into this and confirm there is a sequel announcment.--Darkness2light (talk) 17:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Michael Bay or one of the other producers stated in an interview with Ign that they were going to make the new F13 and a new Elm Street and then due to the battle between Freddy and Jason being in the end which disappointed the audience and fans they were going to re-do Freddy vs Jason with the battle taking place over the course of the movie. I'll look it up when I get the chance. As for New line, They are still around. The new F13 said New line in the opening as one of the distributors. also I believe it is only a small division of Warner bros similar to Dimension being a smaller division of Miramax.--Darkness2light (talk) 01:09, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Who's the new Freddy

I was just checking the Elm street franchise page and talk page and i wanted to ask if you know whos playing Freddy in the new Elm street? I heard it was Thorton but i'm not sure if that was confirmed. do you know if it is?--Darkness2light (talk) 16:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I haven't looked into it for a long time. all i know is that Englund isnt him. well thanks.--Darkness2light (talk) 17:58, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Notability (Fiction)

There seems to be some progress being made towards redrafting the guideline. Most of the arguments for a permissive guideline seem to have been countered in the sense that they have been found not to be viable. My attempts to obtain a compromise earlier this year seem to be leading towards a slightly stricter applciation of WP:V for fiction that should discourage topics which are only the subject of in universe plot summary, trivia and cruft. A recent post at WT:FICT#The rules seems to make this clear. Can you provide some cool and clear support towards drafting a compromise that is compliant with existing Wikipedia policies and guidelines? --Gavin Collins (talk) 19:14, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

H2 cast interviews

The H2 website is almost up. If you give your email they send you updates. They are doing interviews with the cast members weekley heres the link:http://www.halloweenmovies.com/16.php--Darkness2light (talk) 22:24, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

the link was to halloween movies h2 section. the tyler mane bearded photo i saw was from WCW. give me a link to it or them and i can tell you.Darkness2light (talk) 20:32, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

This definetly isnt Haddonfield. Well remember he had the long hair in the last one (which was fake). Looks like this is taking place a while after the last one. Did you notice the gunshot on his head?--Darkness2light (talk) 21:03, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

We will just have to wait until the movie comes out. Well the kid is coming back as little michael and they may show more of his prison time. Haddonfield, I can't remember if thats what zombie said the town was. he did say bigger than his last trip to haddonfield. oh and there is actually more pictures on Halloween Movies website than the others. and theres more cast interviews up now. as for his face... this isnt a Friday the 13th movie so probably no-show. besides they would not show his full face. maybe tyler mane is going back to wrestling? well one question was solved, and the answer is yes, Laurie did put a bullet in his head.--Darkness2light (talk) 22:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Moustapha or Malek?

I'm cleaning up the Halloween Ressurection Page. the info box says that Malek Akkad was the producer. wasn't it Moustapha Akkad who produced it? wasnt zombie's movie the first one Malek produced?--Darkness2light (talk) 19:41, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Tales of the Black Freighter

It's a bit hair-splittish, but the final paragraph of the opening mentions a DVD that will have an animated version of the 'Tales of the Black Freighter' story. HalfShadow 00:58, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Apologies

Sorry about the Watchmen accusation. Had I known it was a registered editor I would not have said that. I did a quick search in the talk page to see why the director's cut information was removed when it was well cited. I found nothing. Then I did a quick search of "director" on the history page. I found nothing. Therefore I assumed a vandal ip editor simply removed the information. I did not see your comment regarding the removal of the runtime and you are absolutely right. I apologize and hope there are no hard feelings. Valoem talk 07:11, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Unaltered Mask

The Halloween 4 article is in bad shape and im fixing it up, do you know if an unaltered 1975 William Shatner mask was used in a scene? I would go watch it but i need refs. Im not to sure which website could be a good ref.--Darkness2light (talk) 22:35, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

is this ref ok to use: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095271/trivia--Darkness2light (talk) 01:32, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

thanks. I'm looking to see if theres anything about it on Halloween movies, and I just found out that Zombie is posting production updates there. pics news and casting. just figured I let you know if you don't already.--Darkness2light (talk) 01:45, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

one last thing. H2 is what the sequel is being called now. but you said to wait until they officially make a title. how will we know if it's official? Zombie or Akkad will announce it right? it seems like they are sticking with H2 for now. everything including Zombie is saying its called H2. I'm waiting for a announcement too but even Fandango (i know they just sell tickets and follow the filmmakers orders) is calling it H2. if we get to August and there's no announcement does that mean its going under H2?--Darkness2light (talk) 02:07, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

I've ran into a problem with this. Apparently they did have mask problems with Halloween 4. IMDB said that they used the original mask. I just watched the DVD and it is a unaltered Captain Kirk mask. but now i'm back to the ref problem. Is it possible to use the DVD as a refrence? I dont think it is but thats the only way (unless i can find a better website) i can put a ref. How should I do this?--Darkness2light (talk) 01:34, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

The Shatner mask is only in 5-8 seconds of the movie. To be specific it is right when Loomis and Jamie enter the school, Michael comes up behind them and throws loomis through a door. If you have ever seen what the unaltered version of the mask looks like you will notice it right away. I will listen to the commentary later. It was apparently a test shot for the mask and they didnt like it but kept it anyway.--Darkness2light (talk) 17:30, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

It's acknowledged on the writer's commentary. So do i put the ref as Halloween 4 Writer's commentary?--Darkness2light (talk) 20:27, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Michael Myers on Cold Case and Ghost Whisperer

I forgot to ask you about this, A few years ago I remember an episode of Cold Case had a "Halloween" killer in it. The movie came out and there was a copycat killing. Another thing is, last year there was a Ghost Whisperer episode about a college filmaker and he was using famous characters as methods to scare people. Michael Myers appeared a few times on that episode. can we somehow put these on the franchise page somewhere?--Darkness2light (talk) 01:19, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

I remember a ref from CBS stating that Michael Myers was to appear in the Ghost Whisperer episode (there was a pic to.) As for Cold Case, i could look on that article and find if they have a ref for that episode (it was promoted more than usual promos for a new episode). or i'll go to the CBS website.--Darkness2light (talk) 01:26, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

For the Ghost whisperer appearence, I found videos, pictures, but no articles (i still have to look on CBS) except this :http://www.tv.com/users/gavinh2006/profile.php?action=show_blog&entry=m-100-25394726 --Darkness2light (talk) 01:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Theres Youtube but its not anything we can use here because it's a video. the preview on CBS might have it in (but it is again a video) my computer is slow with videos so I can't tell if Michael is in it (it kinda looked like he was in the end). The cold Case episode will be easier to find due to it being a entire episode rather than a apearence. The cold case episode, could go on the Michael Myers page but it is more about the movie's effect on people (like the Halloween II murders) If i find a article about it you can look at it and decide. I guess we could use the article you found for a ref on Ghost Whisperer and I'll look for one on the cold Case episode.--Darkness2light (talk) 01:49, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Here's for Cold Case:http://www.tvguide.com/detail/tv-show.aspx?tvobjectid=100091&more=ucepisodelist&episodeid=4919210 There were a lot of sites for this but this was the best one I could find as a ref.--Darkness2light (talk) 01:57, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Heres a youtube video of his appearence on the episode of Ghost Whisperer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2pYdH90xgY --Darkness2light (talk) 02:01, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Did you notice the mask is the one from the remake?--Darkness2light (talk) 02:09, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

They used something from I Know What You Did Last Summer. I'm not sure what it was though. What was it You mentioned about Jason Being on Supernatural?--Darkness2light (talk) 02:27, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Watchmen

Dont do that, it screws up the page history when a admin comes back to fix it. Q T C 05:38, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Sourcing

I deleted the "most of the audience is older men" from the Watchman page. You responded that some company does the exit polling.

a) How many theaters do they poll? b) What sample size are they using and what methodology did they use to determine that it's representative of a larger population. c) What defines an "older man"? d) Who pays them to do this? Does the payer have a vested interest in the results?

I.e the source is anecdotal garbage. Wikipedia should insist on standards that have integrity. Some private company hired to do a job and providing no info on their data or methodology does not make for a credible source.

Per your response...I initially removed the "grading" on my 1st edit...I DO have problems with quotes concerning box office numbers (the studio's have a vested interest in that number being as high as possible) and the fact that this company has been around for 25 years is meaningless...the fact is that Wikipedia is littered with these "sources" that would never be tolerated anywhere else...how "peer reviewed" is this company's results? (not at all)...I find it laughable that an "encyclopedia" allows statements like this...it's imprecise, unverifiable and distorts reality. What does "older men" even mean? Over 12? Over 80? Wikipedia deserves better. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gettingitrightthefirsttime (talkcontribs) 04:05, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Watchmen - personal observations

Hi there,

I guess my reference to Apocalypse Now can be taken as personal (even if I found it obvious, as everyone I know). But, please, the music by Wagner and Mozart features in the official music CD's. I think I'll rewrite the sentence, skipping the reference to A.N.--Daniel (talk) 19:04, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Smallville - Hex

Since you apparently won't go and read it for yourself, here ya go, word for word the CW's "Official Press Release", as in the network themselves sent it to Kryptonsite and others to be published.

The CW's Official Description (Posted 3/5/09):

Kryptonsite themselves did not just randomly post this from their anonymous source, it comes from the CW. That's why I changed it. Either MSN is too lazy to change or they forgot to. Besides, since when does Smallville have two official directors listed for each episode? Not to mention Tom Welling will be directing episode 21, "Injustice" instead and he only directs one episode per season. Facts are facts. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919991/#director 65.92.170.45 (talk) 22:03, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

I was right, Tom Welling is not directing "Hex". The Futon Critic lists the exact same press release as Kryptonsite. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings.aspx?id=20090309cw07 65.92.165.221 (talk) 03:45, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

The point I was trying to make, which apparentl you never got, is MSN TV is not that reliable anymore. Kryptonsite has been more reliable for the past two season, more so then MSN.

Btw, do you ever talk "normal"? No idea what "verifiability is NOT truth" means. You sound like a dictionary. 65.92.165.221 (talk) 05:31, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Here's something that caught my eye a while back that proves to me, that Kryptonsite is very much on the ball with Smallville episodes.

Though this is posted in "rumorville" the directors are dead on with the exception of episodes 16 & 21, since Tom Welling and Mairzee Almas ended up being credited for the opposite episodes they're listed with and of course no one listed for episode 11.

65.92.165.221 (talk) 06:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Hell, you should learn to read (yes I can swear too). Damn it I never said IMDB I stated Kryptonsite, which I find more reliable then MSN and faster to update too. I gave a "CW Press Release", which you don't want to use. 65.92.165.221 (talk) 15:08, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Either way Kryptonsite or IMDB were right, which is more then I can say for MSN. They're not too good with their information or updating it fast enough. 65.92.165.221 (talk) 01:53, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Kryptonsite

Hey!

I actually wanted to know why you kinda boycott informations from Kryptonsite, about Smallville. Craig Byrne, the webmaster, is in contact with some people working for the show (don't know if it's the writers, directors or actors...) and most of the time (like 95%) the spoilers of the site are accurate (especially the titles, revealed months before any official announcement, etc...)

Darkcook. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkcook (talkcontribs) 19:52, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

That's easy, the wiki bosses think Kryptonsite is "fan based" and unreliable, even though they're are not. I've found Kryptonsite 100% reliable and their list in rumorville of directors was pretty accurate. You won't get them to change their minds. 65.92.164.179 (talk) 21:43, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

"I personally use Kryptonsite to satsify my fan needs all the time, I find it to be an excellent source of information...just not for an encyclopedia." That's what I thought, I understand that. Thanks!

Darkcook —Preceding undated comment added 23:27, 12 March 2009 (UTC).

Injustice

I noticed you add more episodes around Injustice from TV Guide but you forgot to add Tom Welling as director for Injustice, also from TV Guide. Why is that? 65.92.164.179 (talk) 21:41, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Daeg Faerch

Apparently the IP (on WP:FILM) I mentioned before was Daeg himself[1]. Does this change anything?--CyberGhostface (talk) 20:50, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Why is the director/writer are listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smallville_(season_8)#Episodes but not on the main page with the list of episodes? 65.92.164.179 (talk) 10:40, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Mr. "Discrpency", would you please unlock Smallville's list of episodes for everyone to contribute to them? Thank you. 65.92.164.179 (talk) 02:00, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Last house preceded and followed by

I was just wondering about The Last House on The Left articles. I saw the movie last night and I was looking up the reception and I noticed the info box. Should there be a preceded and followed by in the info boxes (for the original and remake). I'm not sure if that applies to remakes.--Darkness2light (talk) 15:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

It was the best movie I have ever seen. The theater I was in people (including me) were cheering after a kill and clapping. It actually makes you happy. but yeah I will update the plot.--Darkness2light (talk) 15:15, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Watchmen

Seen it yet? Alientraveller (talk) 12:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, really good. I commented on Erik's page it feels like Watchmen, but as if Tony1 copyedited it the story more reiterable. I really liked the new ending. Alientraveller (talk) 12:46, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I understand the concern for redundancy in my Watchmen post. But you don't think it's relevant that analysts are describing the opening weekend as a disappointment? You know, to show both sides of the story? Warner Bros. has theirs, that it was a success and what they wanted, and box office analysts have another, that the movie was expected to open in excess of 300's box office, and that the drop off in sales - as well as the demographics buying tickets - show a trend that indicates that the movie did not have wide-spread appeal? Isn't that more accurate from a journalistic perspective? I thought the point of discussing box office was to look at the result, compare it back to the expectancy, and use that to discuss whether it was a "success" or "disappointment"?

Just a little richer and more interesting, don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Briguy7783 (talkcontribs) 20:21, 11 March 2009 (UTC) Briguy7783 (talk) 06:15, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Infobox

Do you have any suggestions on how we can reach a consensus on the info box discussion currently raging in Captain Kirk? Erikeltic (talk) 19:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Me too, but Arcayne is not accepting that position. Erikeltic (talk) 19:45, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Especially since the position is in conflict with the results from our discussion in wikiproject film (or tv) regarding inclusion. Licensed portrayals are not the only litmus for inclusion, especially when there is outside (meaning non-fan) media confirmation of the portrayal. As noted elsewhere, there have only been three serious portrayals of the character (and I am excepting for the moment the child actor playing Kirk as a boy; it seems tangential to the main argument at this time); everything else has been a riff on Shatner's portrayal. The canvassing lad seems unaware that there is a mediation process. Might someone point it out to them? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 19:51, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Request for Mediation

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/James_T_Kirk, and indicate whether you agree or disagree to mediation. If you are unfamiliar with mediation on Wikipedia, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. Please note there is a seven-day time limit on all parties responding to the request with their agreement or disagreement to mediation. Thanks, Marfoir (talk) 11:57, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

THF said basically the same thing as you and I agree with both of your statements, but one editor doesn't. I'm new to Wikipedia so here is the part where I will need some guidance if you're willing to offer it. Since the consensus appears to overwhelmingly support the position that fictional characters' infoboxes should list studio portrayals only, how do we move forward to make that change permanent when one editor will just keep changing it back? That editor honestly believes he has the consensus, where it's pretty clear from reading the talk page that he doesn't. Can you offer any suggestions based on your experience here? Thanks. Marfoir (talk) 11:39, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Responding to your points

Regarding Geeze, man. I'm sitting here trying to work with you, but you seem like you just don't want any assistance. Whatever then. This sort of language is not productive to a positive dialogue. Please understand that I tried to respond to your points as best and as quickly I can as you have raised them. If I do not agree with one hundred percent of everything you say, I can certainly understand how you would feel frustrated, but I respect you as an editor and contributor to the project and hope that we can both try our best to remain civil, but above that even cordial, in our discussions. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 06:17, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Horror Collaboration

Noticed your edit comment on the Collaboration page and couldn't agree more… people just don't seem to be nominating material for collaboration. Maybe this is a facet of the redesign still being new and people are getting used to it, but it concerns me in regards to the long term usage of the project page.

If you could, please nominate a page or two for Collaboration. Maybe more folks would do so if there were more nominees. hornoir (talk) 10:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I agree about the crew number being vague. I was hoping to get the reviewer's reaction to the special effects in there as well, but it was deleted too because it was "subjective opinion". re: Admin

Wait and see. I noticed recent activity, we'll see what comes of it. --MASEM (t) 05:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Yeah, I've only had time to check in on Wikipedia briefly lately. Nothing major, just busy with lots of little things. I also joined a Buffy forum a couple of months ago, so a lot of my time online is spent arguing with people over there. ;) How are you? I haven't really been following the Halloween movie that closely. I saw the pictures of Laurie all blood-splattered and beaten (is that from the first movie, or a new attack?) and heard that Daeg was recast as young Michael because his voice had broken. Any major news I've missed out on?  Paul  730 20:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, my activity at SlayAlive mostly consists of defending Season Eight against the haters. Some people just don't get the comic book medium. Urgh, I really hope we don't see that beard in the movie. It was bad enough he had long hair in the first movie, now he's a yeti? I'm currently watching Angel for the hundredth time, and recently bought Dexter season one. I've never seen it, but I've heard really good things so I thought I'd give it a chance. Birds of Prey... isn't that meant to be canon with the Smallville universe? I heard that somewhere, not sure if it's true. I think Zythe told me it was a terrible show, he's a big fan of comic book.  Paul  730 21:01, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, in the original, everyone would have had the balls to cut Michael's hair because he was the model patient. He just sat there for 15 years, nobody thought anything of him. Then he turned violent one night and escaped. It was only in the remake they showed him killing nurses. Even so, wouldn't they have some kind of procedures for cutting patients hair in asylums? Drug them up or something? Whatever. I felt that the crazy hair took away from the irony of him looking "angelic" and normal. But Tyler Mane is easily the best Shape since the original, so I'm not complaining that much. I heard about the meteor shower reference. Isn't BoP taking place way in the future anyway? Like, isn't one of the characters Batman's daughter or something? Is the show enjoyable in a take-it-with-a-pinch-of-salt kind of way?  Paul  730 21:32, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey, happy Friday the 13th. Did you go and see the movie again like you planned?  Paul  730 23:53, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think F13 was the first time I've went to the cinema by myself, you feel like a loser. The Last House article looks good... I just noticed Cromartie from Terminator is in it, you didn't like him did you? Btw, have you seen Twilight? I really hate it just from what I've heard, and my boss lend me his copy of it. He says it's one of the worst films he's ever seen in his life. I look forward to mocking it.  Paul  730 02:10, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I liked Cromartie. He wasn't the best Terminator in the series but he was a nice recurring villain. Based on the trailers I've seen for season 2, I think he's supposed be creepy and weird rather than physically threatening. There was a scene I saw where he was singing to a little girl (I think it was him?). I just spent the last two hours bored shitless as I sat through Twilight. My God, avoid that film at all costs! The dialogue is atrocious and the supposed "sexual tension" basically consists of the characters sitting around looking confused and miserable while the camera zooms uncomfortably close to their faces. Mind-numbing juvenile shite.  Paul  730 03:25, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, one of the reviews I read said the movie felt like a fat girl had written down her personal fantasies. Bella has no personality whatsoever, and yet all the kids at her school want to be her friend and Edward falls in love with her instantly. She's the embodiment of a Mary Sue, basically. The story is basically just fan fiction-style wish fulfillment, it's so amateurish. I'm not sure I agree with your theory about the female creative team (so sexist! :P), I think the book was shit to begin with and the movie was a pretty loyal adaptation.  Paul  730 03:55, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, I still don't agree with you. How is a predominanty female crew "keeping it in the family"? The film wasn't shit because of the crew, it was shit because it was loyal adaptation of a shit book. It was as good an adaptation as you could really expect, and from what I hear, most of the books' fans were happy with it. In all seriousness, you are coming off pretty sexist. If you were looking at an action film made primarily by men, would you say "Oh, they've not got any women in the crew, this film's got no divergence in POV." :P < smiley to lighten the mood.  Paul  730 01:19, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Not calling it or now calling it? I wasn't aware that it was an official title; I saw that you redirected an article with that name but I assumed it was just another of the thousands of titles over-zealous fanboys are trying to create the article under. That was the title of Loomis' book in RZH. I could live with it, not too fond of the H2 part though. They tried that shit with H20 ten years ago and it didn't work then. Your version of X-Men 2 does that as well... blame Terminator.  Paul  730 05:11, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, Halloween didn't play that big a role in RZH. Shame. I'd be fine with Halloween: The Devil Walks Among Us. It's the H2 that grates... it's fine as working title/nickname but it's too tacky to be the official name. What do you mean by Lois Lane? One of the actresses that played Lois Lane or the character is going to be named Lois Lane? They could have had the psychologist be Marion Chambers or Will Brennan, or is that just fanboy of me?  Paul  730 05:49, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but the original had more of a "boogeyman" element so it felt more Halloweeny. The remake was just "kid goes psycho" and the Halloween setting was very peripheral. Oh right... there's like five Lois Lane actresses so that wasn't really clear. ;) Kidder should be good, I wonder if she is playing Marion after all? I'm very fond of the Marion character.  Paul  730 06:16, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Dunno, why not? She's a popular Halloween character. Dr. Wynn became a female nurse in the remake, it's not anymore of a stretch for Marion to become a psychologist. But she's Barbara Collier now so it's a moot point. On an unrelated note, I have a very strong feeling that this film will bomb horribly. It just has a cobbled-together Halloween 5 feel to it.  Paul  730 12:48, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I might get the issues for this one, since Forbidden Planet are chronically unreliable when it comes to TPBs. That cover is pretty cool, it looks like they're basing Freddy on his New Nightmare look. The storyline sounds suitably wacky, it's nice we have the comics for this OTT nonsense now that the movies have went all back-to-basics.  Paul  730 01:01, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
The more I hear about FvJvA2, the more I'm excited about it. One of the writers mentioned Tommy Jarvis in an interview and apparently other survivors from the films will be brought into it. It seems like it's going to be an epic finale to this universe. I'd love Nancy to be in it, imagine Nancy, Tommy, and Ash teaming up against Freddy and Jason. That's like the ultimate horror fangasm.
On an unrelated note, do you watch Dexter? I just finished the first season on DVD, and while I think it's a bit overrated, it's still a really good series. The idea of a heroic serial killer is just a really fascinating concept.  Paul  730 16:39, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Deborah and Young Michael appear as psychological ghosts in it? Wow, Zombie's really going to any lengths to give his wife a job, isn't he? Hmm, it sounds quite different and interesting, and I like the look of that location in the picture. What do you think?
Hasn't Dexter been around for a while? I didn't watch it on TV either, I just picked up the boxset to see what all the fuss was about. I've never even heard of that Christian Slater show.  Paul  730 17:09, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Looks cool, I remember seeing the unpainted version. This is the first Halloween film to have a consistant mask to it's predecessor.  Paul  730 20:45, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, the mask in HII is actually pretty good, I like it. It does look slightly different though, so this new one trumps it for consistency. This is also the first time we've seen damage from the previous film incorporated into the mask, what with the bullet hole. The Friday movies were better at that than the Halloween movies; even though Jason looked different, you could still see the axe mark from III, etc.  Paul  730 22:34, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

That's pretty ironic, but I bet the Shape mask that he wore looked nothing like the original one. None of the sequel masks or the merchandise have ever managed to replicate the creep-factor of the original. (At least until Zombie came along, to his credit). Some of the comic artists have also commented how hard it is to capture that image accurately. I think it was Debra Hill who said that the beauty of the original mask was that it looked nothing like Willian Shatner at all, it just looked weird and inhuman.  Paul  730 23:18, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I do enjoy the cheapness of the mask's origin story. There's something endearingly tacky about a painted Captain Kirk mask becoming a Hollywood icon of horror. No, I think she was saying the mask never looked like Shatner, it was just kind of it's own thing. Doesn't Michael's mask have ginger hair?  Paul  730 00:01, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
I've always thought his hair was red. Dark brownish red, sure, but with a definite red tint. You can't really tell in the original (cos you can never see the mask properly) but it's more noticable in the sequels. (Although, I've been looking through various screenshots and comic panels, and it does actually vary between black, brown, and red depending on the light. Also my Michael action figure has brown hair... oh well.)  Paul  730 00:34, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

My apologies

Again, I apologize for drawing things out a bit too long at Talk:List of South Park episodes. You have really done some great work here, and I am sorry about that. Cirt (talk) 12:35, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Again I just wanted to emphasize that I felt we had both been getting up on the wrong side of the bed lately or something - I do highly respect and value your work on this project, particularly in the areas of film, etc, and I did not want us to have negative or impolite dialogue with each other. I realize at least 50% of that interaction was my fault. Cirt (talk) 13:51, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay great, thanks again. Cirt (talk) 14:30, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

hey

Hey. i've been going back and forth on articles. i went back to editing the amityville articles. The people who run them think a movie that isn't coming out is and one that is isn't so I came back here. so what did you think of Last house on the left?--Darkness2light (talk) 21:37, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

List of American films

Why the fuss over one specific link to the year in film? The general year categories are completely mixed with German, RUssian, French and all world films, NOT purely American. The specific year page in American film also provides much more information than categories.

If people object to see also, the best thing would be to ensure the specific American lists are categorised in the main year categories. This mean if people click on 1926 films they can directly access the American list and not have to filter through the main category. Agreed? Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:20, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

NoES

Great video, I'm actually quite excited for this now. Glad Freddy has very few lines, that sounds like the right way to go IMO. Less sure about the question of his original guilt... the mystery is certainly interesting but I'm cautious of Freddy being portrayed as a sympathetic victim, like Jason. Nancy is going to be an "anti-social goth chick"? Hmm, that sounds really interesting as well. She's one of my favourite horror character so I'm quite protective of her, hope they get a good actress. The whole thing sounds great.  Paul  730 22:51, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, it depends what type of "goth" they make her. If she's a self-pitying hates-the-world emo, then that sucks, but if she's more cool and punky, that's okay. They'll probably make her an emo, though. :( Laurie Strode? In what universe was she a goth? In fact, how many sacred heroines have been gothed up?
I definintely don't want Freddy to be sympathetic. They already went down that road with Leatherface and Michael, I can't be arsed with another "Oh, woe is me! I'm not really bad, honest!" adaptation. So long as they keep it ambiguous I guess I'll cope. I do like the idea of him being good-looking and friendly with the kids, that's scarier than a lecherous old man. I hope this film is layered and intelligent, the original had some interesting themes to it, the whole "sins of the father" thing. This remake doesn't have the same advantage as Friday because the original Nightmare is still such a good movie.  Paul  730 13:26, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Ohh, the way that sentence was worded looked like you were citing Laurie as an example of goths corrupting classic characters. Or maybe I'm just dense. Yeah... I wasn't too keen on Laurie's loss of innocence in the remake either, but that might be because of the juvenile way it was portrayed (bagel anyone?) as well as the irritating actress. My favourite incarnation of Laurie remains her less wholesome H20 Keri Tate persona, that's when the character's at her best IMO.
We don't know if the kids lied, and if they did, what Nancy's role in it was. Maybe she was manipulated into doing it, and she's all guilty and traumatised as a teenger. That has potential.  Paul  730 15:48, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
I think you'll be hard pressed to find a Halloween fan who doesn't hate that bagel scene. It's quite infamous, as Zombie acknowledges himself in the commentary. The character is just pretty half-baked in the remake, she spends most of her time sitting around reciting lines from the original movie. I'm hoping she's more fully-developed in the sequel, which seems to be one of Zombie's objectives from what I hear... I have high hopes for Nancy. I hope they keep her big hair.  Paul  730 16:09, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Jeff Katz on FvJvA2: "It's safe to say that The Nightmare Warriors is not an accidental sub-title. The play on Dream Warriors - my favorite of the series - is totally intentional. Ash - our main man and the one and only "chosen one" - is not alone in this battle. There are others like him out there. Survivors. People with special skills or purposes that have guided them successfully through encounters with Freddy or Jason. The survivors are all very important to the story and will play major roles. This is about tying up their stories too. It's a celebration of all the characters we've loved as fans over the years.
If I was in a teasing mood - and I am - I'd say that if Ash is Superman, the Nightmare Warriors are his Justice League. The Nightmare War itself is a Crisis level event. And, really, who doesn't want to see Ash and Tommy Jarvis fight for the alpha male slot? That's too rich an opportunity to pass up." http://www.newsarama.com/comics/030926-Katz-FvJvA2.html
I'm so excited for this series! :D And I love Tommy, but Ash would kick his ass. Who'd be your ideal line-up for the Nightmare Warriors? I want to see Ash, Tommy Jarvis, Tina Sheperd, Nancy Thompson, Alice Johnson... maybe Jessica Kimble (even though I didn't like her). Who else?  Paul  730 14:47, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Clay is cool, but he doesn't exist in this continuity. I chose Alice because she was alive and one of the stronger characters to face Freddy... I liked her in 4 but not in 5. Nancy is dead, but other comics have depicted her as a powerful active force in the dreamworld so she's still available IMO. If she's in it, we could have cameos from any of Freddy's victims. Katherine I left out because I loathe Freddy's Dead but I did think about the parallels between her and Jessica. Unfortunately, they both orignated in the worst films of their respective series. I'm trying to think who else is alive... Rennie maybe, although she never really stood out that much. I like Rowan, but obviously she can't appear because of the timing. Speaking of which, given Katz's respect for continuity, maybe this story will lead into the start of Jason X; the government is involved, after all. I'm really interested in the plan to tie everything together, especially the idea that these characters were "chosen" to fight Freddy and Jason and this story is the culmination of their destinies.  Paul  730 17:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Date autoformatting

Hi Bignole - A couple of quick questions in response to your comments in the poll in favour of autoformatting.

  • How does it 'save extraneous codes'? I don't understand.
  • Do you realise that those badly formatted dates had always been there? The removal of autoformatting didn't change them, it just changed the way you see them. Our readers had been seeing them that way all along. Colonies Chris (talk) 15:25, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation about the citation templates. However, although a little could be saved there by the use of yyyy-mm-dd throughout, the cost of autoformatting would be that every date in WP would have to be marked up (probably with some sort of template wrapper, such as {{DateFormat|2009-01-30}}), and every article would have some sort of default date format marker along the lines of {{DefaultFormat:MDY}}. The additional cost of those would vastly outweigh the savings. Colonies Chris (talk) 16:40, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Wikiproject Television question

Hi Bignole - I have a TV related question and saw your name on the list of WP:TV participants. I was wondering if there is any consensus as to whether petitions should be included in the External links section of TV show articles. I've searched through multiple style and project pages but I don't see where this topic is addressed. I've seen these type of links pop up a few times on recent changes patrols etc. and am always tempted to remove them, but would like to be able to back-up the deletion with policy or concensus. If you're not sure, no harm no foul, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to check with a project member. Cheers! ponyo (talk) 16:18, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you kindly for the quick response! I was leaning on using WP:EL as a basis for deleting random petition links I come accross, but I wanted to confirm if there was a more specific policy I could point to should the deletion be challenged. ponyo (talk) 16:44, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

The Dark Knight

You are correct, thank you for verifying this. It does make more grammatical sense to out it your way. Just thought I should acknowledge you. GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 04:52, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
