Question[edit]

Hey, excellent stuff. I was just wondering, are you planning to reformat the season 2 page with this info (as suggested with the title), or mage individual articles for each episode? Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 15:50, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All of the season pages will eventually look like Season 1's page, I just don't have the time right now to complete them all in one shot. Once I get a chance to go through the episode information and reorder everything I'll put it in the mainspace. I have to go re-search for all the season reviews I had found because I bought a new computer last February and I lost all my internet favorite links (where I had saved season reviews for every season up to season six). All the seasons suffer the same reality as the first, which is the lack of individual episode reviews from professional reviewing houses. You can find BuddyTV stuff, or TVSquad, but those aren't professional and typically don't read anywhere close to it either. Plus, you remember how hard it's been trying to find additional, reliable review sources for "Tempest"..and that was a season finale. I have a feeling that "Reckoning", from season five, will be individual because it was such a monumental episode.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 17:00, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I definitely agree that "Reckoning" should have its own article, I bet there's a bit of OOU info out there. I would love to help with this stuff, so if you ever need help (which I doubt you will), feel free to ask me. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 07:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, what's up with Exodus? Creating a page for the episode? Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 04:13, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I have had no luck so far. Are you doing any better? Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 12:24, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, but I haven't had the chance to scower the university database yet. Been too busy. I'll see if I can muster some time while at work today.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:36, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm leaving it on its own till I can see if there are or aren't any professional reviews for it. Just like what I did with Tempest. There was a lot of info on Exodus (though, I don't think it got one of the DVD commentaries...which is a shame). If I can't find anything worth while then it will be dispensed with the other episodes. But, there is enough that I hope that I can find some reviews because I would like to have another individual episode article. As they say, you can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first. If you want to take a gander on the web to see what you can find that would be great. I'm so busy right now with my internship and work that I rarely have time to do any real research for articles.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:17, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'll try look for some reviews. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 04:50, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Thanks for the smiley barnstar. :D  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:00, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, you totally deserve it. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 05:16, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had a look for some reviews, but damnit there was none. I'll try to find some, I'll try... Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 05:16, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know you will. You did a good job last time. When I get a chance I'm going to try and look through the university journals, and Access World News to see what I can find.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:01, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing I have found so far is from The Futon Critic. I know it isn't considered to be very reliable, but it was named the 35 best episode of '03. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 09:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I have that already. I went through because the Futon Critic does that every year and the Smallville episodes usually make a couple of appearances. A couple from season 1 made it on the list.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:18, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have you had any luck so far? I've looked through a couple of archives, but none seem to have a review for "Exodus". I'll continue to look, but keep me posted. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 14:26, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No. I looked through the university database, and Google News and Google Scholar...I didn't turn up anything.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:27, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bignole, I honestly feel like a have failed you :-( I cannot find a single review of "Exodus". BUT, I do not think this means that it should not have its own article. We have ratings, we have awards (from the Futon Critic at least), and maybe we could add in some reviews that recap the whole season. It is the finale, and maybe we could find some stuff that reviews the whole season. Best improvisation I can think of. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 06:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You know it wouldn't be enough. First, the Futon Critic always comes under fire because "they don't even have a page on Wikipedia". I caught crap from using them as the first critic in a number of articles, and I think it would catch it if that's the only people are pulling from. As for the season review, unless they directly review "Exodus" in the season review, then we cannot use anything from there. If they speak of the season as a whole we cannot infer anything about the finale. You know that would be original research. The season two premiere will clearly not have a page. It's not a big deal if the finale doesn't have one either. We struggled to find stuff for "Tempest", and this episode would probably be ten times harder to justify (it certainly wouldn't pass a GA test with no reception). Not to mention that I'm not sure how much of that information is going to be used (I know a couple things came from that section of the book, but I'm going to use for sections of Smallville (TV series), as they are more relevant there than on a season page or an individual page).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:07, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you're right. I think that is the best thing to do; having the info on the main page. Well, we tried. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 13:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, keep searching you never know what you'll come across. Especially keep search for season reviews (I'm still pissed that I lost all the season reviews I had for all the season articles when I bought a new computer). Right now, I only have 2 reviews for this season. What I've found is that if you search for "Season X DVD" "Season X review" or "Season X DVD review" (obviously with "Smallville" attached, and supplimenting the "X" for the season number) in Google News and Google Scholar (not so much the web, because you get a lot of fansites, but sometimes the general web will bring up decent sources), you tend to find stuff. I just haven't had the time lately to take care of that.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
