Hello[edit]

Hey! I wanted to mention that the article on Squelchies, which you wrote, is very impressive, and you have a right to be proud of it. However, some people, myself included, do not think it meets Wikipedia's notability standards for computer software, and are considering deleting it. If you disagree with this, there is a 7-day period of debate on whether the article should be deleted here. Your input is welcomed! Where (talk) 03:43, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Award[edit]

Where hereby awards BioTube the exceptional newcomer award for his or her promising work on articles.

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Stifle 20:39, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just for clarification: you can remove {{prod}} notices, but not AFD notices. The prod notices say on them that you can delete them; the AFD notices have comments in the edit form that say not to delete them. Where (talk) 01:40, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your AFD remark[edit]

It would be helpful if you could state your reasons for why you think the article should be kept. Where (talk) 23:57, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Lightwarriors.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lightwarriors.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Decolonization[edit]

Dear BioTube: I believe wikipedians are generally discouraged from having their Userpage redirect to other pages. Regarding Decolonization, please see my comments at User talk:68.108.118.13. I'm afraid your comments to the user are making the situation worse. This is a collegial effort requiring cooperation and compromise. I can protect the page and block the user, but I'd rather work with him or her to improve the article than respond punitively.--Rockero 20:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was just anger. The fact was he was refering to the US as simply a country that was't legitimately decolonized, but as a completely illegitimate one. And I'll removed the redirect. BioTube 20:19, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Tion (combination), by Ptcamn, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Tion (combination) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Not a tetragraph. This is just a string of four letters.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Tion (combination), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Tion (combination) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:49, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible that the ti might be considered a digraph (since it's pronounced "sh"), but the o and the n are pronounced exactly as you would expect them to be (compare e.g. beckon). They don't form a tetragraph. --Ptcamn 01:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is 'ti' by itself ever used to represent the /ʃ/? If ghoti's the only such us of those two letters, it would seem to be more a tetragraph. Something to look in to. BioTube 01:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"Alsatian"? --Ptcamn 01:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Merriam-Webster lists the pronunciation of "Alsatian" as "al-'sA-sh&n" and the pronunciation of "nation" as "'nA-sh&n". "Tian" seems to be a variant, at least in English. BioTube 02:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Lightwarriors.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lightwarriors.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 10:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FrameBuffer UI[edit]

Hey, I was doing some research on alternatives to X11, and I saw on the front page of the framebuffer UI article that it's only available in kernel 2.6.9. I see from the change history that you made changes in that area. The latest kernel release just last week was 2.6.22.5 if I'm not mistaken. Did you mean to put 2.5.9? If that is the case why was it removed? I would like to know, it would help me out a little bit. Thank you :-) Hendrixski 15:58, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Lightwarriors.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lightwarriors.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Killiondude (talk) 05:19, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the rationale. --Enric Naval (talk) 15:55, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
