Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Instead of undoing all of Brian's edits, you could have restored the last safe version. I got edit conflicted with you 4 times in trying. lolRain the 1 23:03, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

How do I do that again? Bleaney (talk) 23:04, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
I think Twinkle gives the option of restoring a particular version. I usually just click edit on the version before the disruptive edits started and save the page.Rain the 1 23:08, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Revert#Manual reverting ;) If you want to undo obvious vandalism, WP:ROLLBACK is a handy tool to have. Also, I don't think those IPs were Brian, as he uses a certain IP range that starts with 86.4. He usually updates tables and infoboxes. - JuneGloom Talk 23:47, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Ireland

In list of states the states name is used, I understand your concern but it is quite clear in the article what is meant and context should be consistant. Your point that Northern Ireland is mention is not fully valid as it is under the UK heading not as a stand alone entity. If you have any questions feel free to ask myself or contact WP:IMOS (not the fastest form of MOS btw), or ask maybe at WP:IECOLL. Cheers, have a good weekend. University Technical Colleges

Hi. I noticed you added a section on UTCs on the Free School page. I was thinking there's probably a pretty god case for working up a page on UTCs themselves. I'm unconvinced that they're really the same things as Free Schools - albeit funded in the same way; they just seem s very different that I think there's a very arguable case - and I couldn't see any deletion or similar discussion. I wondered agar your thoughts were? Blue Square Thing (talk) 21:04, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I was actually intending to start a new page for UTCs themselves... but chickened out at the last moment! Since then I have thought better of it, seeing as although UTCs ARE a free school of sorts, their rapid development and specific 'technical' aspect mean they are quite disinct. I am quite prepared to be bold, and create an expanded page for UTCs themselves, if that would be better? Bleaney (talk) 01:00, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
I think they probably deserve a page themselves - amongst other things it strikes me that their technical aspects are notable and there's been plenty of press the last day or so (a Granuaid article for example). They also seem to me to be only technically part of the FS movement when ou compare who's setting them up they differ so much from FS and, IMO, will, be judged differently in the end as well,
fwiw Imwould also suggest that the FS list on the page should be a CAT and, probably, the same should happen with UTCs when there are more of them - for now prose would probably suffice rather than lists. If you wants to kick it off then by all means go ahead. I doubt I'll have time until late today. But if you don't then I will! Blue Square Thing (talk) 05:38, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Looks really good btw - I'll see what I can add in terms of refs at some point. Top quality start though Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:27, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! Bleaney (talk) 20:26, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Twinkle

Thanks for your edits on Ballakermeen High School I saw that you made 3 revisions which could have been done by a single edit. I would encourage you to install WP:Twinkle as it will help you a lot in various ways in your edits on wiki. cheers --DBigXray 20:46, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

I understand why my edit was reverted. I do know his name is Paul because I go to the school but I cannot find a source anywhere on the internet so I guess it should be left as P for now, I will try searching for a reliable source. Thanks, I wasn't trying to vandalize or anything. 80.65.243.36 (talk) 20:07, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Re:Warning

It wasn't me was it? I haven't been adding any fake characters have I? Apologise please! Bleaney (talk) 21:34, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Apology

I am really sorry for what said to you I thought it was you who did it; do you forgive me for what I said to you and be reunited with one another. I will promise not to give you any Warning again but in future I will give you a reason why and to remind you not to add or delete my pages I done.

86.10.15.230

But in favour could you tell this user 86.10.15.230 to remind him not to bring back these characters again and give him a reason why is well.

Look on these links

If you click on these links they will tell you these people on what they are and what they mean but some of these people may not exist as famous people. Harry Holland, Harry Black, Glen Cooper, Glen James, Michael Leader & Michael.

Ossett Academy

Hi Bleaney,

Thank you for your patience and understanding, this is all very new to me it has taken a while to find out how to answer you on 'talk' so I guess the learning curve is going to be pretty steep for some time to come.

In answer to your questions:

Secondly, just look at how the other sources have been added on the page and do that with the source you have above. I tried this but got rather baffled with the way that items were numbered and placed in footnotes, am I correct to think that it would do it automatically just as in 'word'?

Thirdly, Don't get rid of the information and sources about previous results and ofsted reports, just add your stuff below it. Thanks for this advice, the reason for deleting it was that it was 'factually' incorrect. The Ofsted report cited is not the most recent. Fourthly, does the ofsted report actually say that Over the last five years, its results have deteriorated significantly coinciding with the Principal being routinely absent from the site or have you linked those two things? Yes it does, quite a damning statement and one that I imagine Ofsted does not generally put lightly. And does the report actually say that students have not made good progress in English or mathematics (sic Ofsted report) led by Mr Richard Clifford, Mrs Pamela Yems and Mr Philip Dore - does it actually name the teachers specifically? Bleaney (talk) 03:03, 7 August 2012 (UTC) The report does say that students have not made good progress, not sure why mathematics does not enjoy the prestige of being capitalised in an Ofsted report like English does. Ofsted may not name the teachers concerned but that information is available on the school website and significantly the staffing has changed (or remains unchanged) since the report was written.

This is not a matter of vandalism or a vendetta against the school it is purely an attempt to make sure that the Wiki statement about the school is accurate, at the moment it is not.

Thanks again for your help and advice. When I have read some of the background to Wiki editing I have seen that new editors can be assigned to mentors. I would very much like to do this if it is possible, do you have any suggestions as to how I should proceed. ...and finally, I hope I have managed to communicate with you through the correct channels.

Many thanks

Sorry! Melonheadtrimble (talk) 10:41, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, yes well done for finding my talkpage. Lets deal with your queries -

Firstly , yes, just add the reference to the end of the text you put in. So this is how id do it -

A report released in 2012 from ofsted stated blah blah blah blah.[1]

And its done. Just press edit on this page and see the symbols ive used to work the reference in.

Secondly, Previous ofsted reports are useful as they chart the 'history' of the schools performance, so even if it is not the the most recent report, it should still be included. Maybe a quic reword like An ofsted report released in 2008 stated...

Thirdly, fair enough if the report directly links deterioration of results with absences from the head, then yes it can go in.

Fourthly, If the report does not name those teachers in relation to poor results in the subject, then you shouldn't link them on here. It's called original research and is a big no no on Wikipedia. It does seems silly, but because you have looked at the ofsted report date and then noted the teachers working in those areas at the time, effectively you are 'doing research' and coming to your own conclusions... Now if you can get a newspaper report that actually names and shames the teachers... then that could prove the statement, but it has to be an outside source.

And ive never thought you were vandalising, I hope you stay here and edit many more articles! As for being mentored, id offer to do it myself but reacon i'd balls it up, as I still get loads of things wrong here. If you are interested, click on the adopted button thats in the blurb of the welcome note I first posted on your talk page. But of course, feel free to ask me anything at any time. Bleaney (talk) 12:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Bleaney,

Many thanks once again for your advice. I would like to 'stick around' as I am hoping to improve my 'internet' skills and I see contributing to Wiki as a very significant internet skill. I am also trying to get my head around Ebay and Amazon at the same time but I think I need to prioritise my objectives in light of those aspects which I find difficult. I didn't mean to imply that you thought I was vandalising, it was just an expression that I had noticed is used by Wiki and I was trying to enter in to the 'spirit of the jargon'. I have a great deal of experience in the practical applications of ICT and I have used Access, Word and Excel (slightly less) but due to historically poor internet connections I have not enjoyed many opportunities to work on any web based IT skills. Recently installed 'cable' and broadband have suddenly changed the situation and I am running to these new horizons rather than walking. Many thanks once again,

Melonheadtrimble (talk) 04:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Bleaney, I have been away for quite a few days and managed to forget a lot of what I had picked up about Wiki. I have read your amendments and would not disagree with them. I would disagree with ofsted, but that is another matter. The school cannot be deemed to be improving from just one ofsted inspection when the report is 'worse' than the previous one. Ofsted is just a moment in time. Perhaps if the next inspection is better than this one then I would agree that the school is improving. Until then the school has got some quite serious issues which will not be remedied by publishing what you call 'promo language' on wiki. Many thanks once again for you help and support. List of museums in South Australia

Hi Bleaney, I've reverted your deletion of the South Australian Whale Centre from the list. As a non-local, you're probably not aware of the importance of the whaling industry in South Australia at the time when the colony was founded in 1836; the topic of whaling in Australian waters is currently very poorly covered in WP articles, and needs a lot of work. Kothris Museum of Modern Art

Hi Bleaney, I see you added Kothris Museum of Modern Art in the list and the Herakleion article. I would appreciate any info you have about its existence, because since Dr. Blofeld created this stub, I haven't found a single hint it exists. It's not featured in the official site of Herakleion [1], but being a private one it just might be left out. I find only a Museum of Plastic Arts (which we mention as Museum of Visual Arts) here see No.47. Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 00:03, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the prompt answer. I asked Dr. Blofeld to speedy it. Good you found it orphaned there in the back. Cheers. Hoverfish Talk 00:33, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Korea International School Jeju

Not sure if I;m doing this right??? Just wanted to thank you for replacing the info about Korea International School Jeju.
