Beginning titles with a lowercase letter

Hi Bleaney, your request regarding da Vinci Community College didn't need to be handled at RM. Actually, due to technical restrictions on article naming, a title can't start with a lowercase letter. We can still make it display as such by using the {{lowercase title}} template on a page. I've done that for the da Vinci Community College article. If you ever run into a similar case, it's quite easy to do yourself. --BDD (talk) 23:08, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Ringwood Waldorf School Dorset or Hampshire

--3world Kid (talk) I appreciate your edits on this page, but the school insists it is in Hampshire and the official address it uses, as well as that published on its Website is Hampshire. They say the sign for Dorset is about a mile down the road. If you don't mind, I should like to change the area back to Hampshire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 3rdWorldkid (talkcontribs) 22:00, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi there. The problem I have is that the Department for Education lists it as being a Dorset school (see the links in the article infobox). The address doesn't tell us anything, as postal addresses don't conform to county boundaries. Where does it say on the website that it is in Hampshire? I can't find it. It certainly would be neater if it was in Hampshire, as it is named after the town of Ringwood in Hampshire, but i'm puzzled as to why the DfE would list it as in Dorset if it is definately in Hampshire? - Bleaney (talk) 22:23, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

--3world Kid (talk) Here is the link on the homepage: http://ringwoodwaldorfschool.org.uk/contact/ and the address. Folly Farm Lane Ashley Ringwood Hampshire BH24 2NN I can discuss the issue with the school's office, only I'm not from the school and don't even live in England, so it will take a few days to clear it up. Perhaps we can come back to it next week some time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 3rdWorldkid (talkcontribs) 02:21, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

As I said earlier, a postal address doesn't mean anything. The contacts page of the website doesn't say its in Hampshire apart from as part of the postal address... where does it say that.. They say the sign for Dorset is about a mile down the road... ? Verbal confirmation from the school office isn't enough, we need a verifiable source... a map maybe with the county boundary and the school on it? - Bleaney (talk) 09:46, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

The Winsford E-ACT Academy

Hi Bleaney,

Hope you're well :) - Please could you set up a redirect for Verdin High School and Woodford Lodge High School to redirect to The Winsford E-ACT Academy? Both of these former secondary schools were merged together to form 'The Winsford E-ACT Academy' in September 2010. It would be beneficial for those who visit the former schools would be redirected to it's new merger name. Middle schools in West Sussex

Hi - I saw you reverted the changes I made to the list of schools in West Sussex. I appreciate that the schools you highlighted cover the primary range also, but the very definition of middle school implies that it covers both primary and secondary-aged children. There is no reason for the schools to be listed twice - and indeed, if we begin to do so then arguably we ought also to list them as secondary schools, since they also teach secondary-aged children. I haven't undone your reversion as I wanted to discuss first, but I can't see the rationale for double-listing. Tafkam (talk) 21:46, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, there is a difference, the ones that are double listed are called 'Middle and First School', and therefore explicitly cover a school age greater than just a middle school. The point is, at these schools children can attend them from the age that statutory schooling begins - and the lists on here reflect that. This is in common with 'All through' schools listed elsewhere in the UK on these lists, as they are listed both in the primary and secondary sections of the lists. - Bleaney (talk) 22:35, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

I think this suggests a misunderstanding of the terms. We don't define primary schools being any school that accepts 5-year-olds. Equally, there is no stipulated lower age for a middle school. It is simply the definition for any school which accepts children both younger and older than 10.5 years. By statute, all of the middle schools in Worthing are primary schools, so either all or none should be listed as primary. My view is that double-listing isn't helpful, but either way consistency should be maintained. Tafkam (talk) 23:22, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Former Ethel Wainwright School

You're not with me on this, yet. Why does the Wikipedia listing show the old name? Why are you reverting to the old name?

I added the 'new' name under 'W' but retained the old name under the 'E' section as I was unsure of the date of change. It's a minor point, but really should be correct. I assume it was a recent-ish name change (at least, under the Conservative lot) due to it's tax-free status. I live two streets away and I did not know the name, as it was something like Q.E. @ Harrop White Road under the three-tier system. Ethel Wainwright and Harrop Wight were both historic locals. FYI, look at this. Thanks.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 20:38, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

While I got you, I am hearing whispers that Vision West Nottinghamshire College have established a 'new' school for problem 14-16 year olds at this location.
Former Technical and Art College site, Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield

I am unsure if this whisper relates to Vision Studio School or a completely separate Academy. This was shortly followed by an announcement that a similar (nearby) Notts County Council facility may close soon [1] (I've not followed this news story through). If you could bear this in mind in case you should come across further info. Thanks again.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 21:10, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
