A new bot based on what you already have

Hi, As I said on WP:VP I think the bot you wrote is a pretty nice idea - indeed a necessity. A discussion came about that resulted in a WP:RSN thread. I think you can probably modify your code without much effort to make a new bot later which just looks up a website on a "no-no list" and leaves a similar message, for a user or on a project page etc.

Please think about it and if you can find the time to do it, your help will be appreciated. History2007 (talk) 11:13, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

I might be interested in helping in the future, but I have my hands full with my current bot at the moment. In the mean time, I released the code, open source, so another coder might be willing to adapt it. PS- regarding code quality: thanks, I'm flattered. Blevintron (talk) 01:09, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
What is the link to the "final" version of your code now? I will see if I can touch it up to do this task. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 06:48, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
There is no 'final version' because the code is still under development in response to the the BRFA discussion. Among the changes, they've asked that I don't upload the code to wikipedia. An old copy is here, but I haven't uploaded a more recent version. Blevintron (talk) 19:27, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) You can upload the complete code, preferably not across too many pages, just don't do it after every compile. A few botops keep their code available, like AnomieBOT. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 22:06, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Cool. The latest has been updated to bot userspace. I changed the license to CC-BY-SA (just like wikipedia). This is reflected in src/LICENSE.txt, but I forgot to update the comment at the top of each source file (oops). Also, I'll try to reduce that down to one page for all source code before the next upload.
So History2007, go forth and make good bots :) Blevintron (talk) 23:53, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Better handling of XML entities...

I bet this broke a lot of code. Can you hear me now?
