There are not many users editing the articles about villages in Slovakia, so you cannot expect any standing ovations. But I just wanted to tell you that we are all grateful and you have been doing an excellent job. Tankred 01:26, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Garwood[edit]

Hello. It seems to me like a good start, very good. But I would like to see better style and formatting and also references. I hope you didn't just copied and pasted some portions of text from other place. :) - Darwinek 19:34, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inner Mongolia Museum[edit]

I read your article on the Inner Mongolia Museum and it is very interesting. Good job! Ilikefood 19:53, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Boxing stubs[edit]

Hi there. I note that you have created many articles on historical boxers and labelled them with UK-bio-stub tags. Could I ask you, if you create any more on boxers or other sportsmen, you put a UK-sport-bio-stub tag instead? Thanks. Dev920 (Tory?) 16:12, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, well done for having created so many good quality stubs. You might want to consider expanding them a bit more though, even if it's just about their sporting career. Dev920 (Tory?) 16:19, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ethyle Cooke[edit]

Hello. I recently created a page about Ethyle Cooke, a silent film actor in the 1910's, who was married to Harry Benham (you began to write an article on him). Would you mind taking a quick peek at it and leave me any suggestions for improvement? Thank you. N4nojohn 23:02, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A disambiguation page is designed to point to wikipedia articles, not to external sites. That is why I marked your article for speedy deletion. If you want to create an article on one of the people named Richard Cummings on IMDB, then you can do that at the title of Richard Cummings. I'd suggest writing about the most notable Richard Cummings, as being in IMDB certainly does not guarantee that a biography on that person would be acceptable in wikipedia. Graham87 12:41, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I didn't notice that you had a user page - I can't distinguish red links easily here. But when I read your talk page and realised the good messages on it, I realised I was probably too hasty. Graham87 12:44, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query On 5 October, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article William Garwood, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Image tagging for Image:Anne Luther.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne Luther.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Boxers[edit]

Hi. Just a heads-up and a request: boxer is now a disambiguation page, and should have no links pointing to it. I see you have created a large number of boxer articles that I'm in the process of disambiguating to boxing. In the future, if you create an article that links the word "boxer", please use the following: [[boxing|boxer]]. Many thanks! Storkk 14:21, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help[edit]

Silent films[edit]

Hey. Thanks for creating many articles for 1910's silent films and related actors/directors. I hope you don't think I'm stalking your edits, as I could swear every time I check Newpages there's at least one page by you. I've been tagging the film articles to WikiProject Films with {{Film|class=Stub}}. You can tag and assess them too, if you like to, or just add {{Film}}. Prolog 18:45, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:LillianLeightoncover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LillianLeightoncover.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:08, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

List of famous tall men[edit]

After the topic was proposed for deletion, the new rule introduced was that if you add a new person, you need to provide a link that proves their height. It couldn't be clearer from the main page, the edit page, the talk page and the history page! If he's 6'5, please find an off site link, and then add him again with it. Mollie McConnell & Louise Lester[edit]

Hi, thanks for all of your work with inclusions of silent film actors. However, you seem to have used the same photograph for different actresses of the era: Mollie McConnell and Louise Lester. I would have corrected this, however I am unsure which actress the photograph is actually of.

Also, could you please categorize the actors by nationality? For example, instead of just using the broad categories of Silent film actors and Film actors, could you categorize them with American film actors and American silent film actors. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Cheers! ExRat 14:50, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, I haven't found anything in the news either stating that he's died. Some anonymous editor put that he died, probably either as a prank or a sick joke or what. Either way, to my knowledge, he's still alive, thankfully. Here's hoping for his quick recovery. Nick Bush 16:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please consider making the entries a little more extensive. You could check for birthdates, interwiki links.
  • Don't link to the article football, but rather football (soccer).

Do you have a source cite so a high-res version can be uploaded? NOAA images are in the public domain, not fair use. – Chacor 15:05, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What I meant was a direct link to the image. We should upload high-resolution images, not small thumbnails, where possible by law. Since this is public domain and not fair use, it's okay to use a high-res version, rather than a low-res thumb. – Chacor 05:11, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Mountain Image[edit]

More specifically, the caption: "WELCOME TO MY UNDERGROUND VOLCANO LAYER. I'VE BEEN EXPECTING YOU" Did you mean "lair," or is "layer" some sort of in-joke? Either way, feel free to delete this. Love the "Dodgy Eastern European accent" bit, by the way. "Dodgy" is a piece of UK slang that I miss from my years living there. Septegram 15:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, yes, rant away. You'll tell me all about your plans, including the big self-destruct button with the red "Do Not Touch" label, then leave me alone in another "inescapable trap," from which I'll inevitably escape and destroy your lair. We've all seen it before.

Prešov Region stubs[edit]

I'm afraid I can only find 28 such stubs, though that might be due in part to under-categorisation. So I'm not going to create (or propose to be created) a stub category at present. However, I entirely agree that it makes very little sense to create the articles now, and have to re-tag them later, so what I suggest doing is creating "upmerged" templates for all of the remaining regions (that is, feeding into the main Slovakia category until they hit 60 or so). That should spare you any unnecessary double-handling. Alai 17:11, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know what you're complaining about, since a) you created the stub category anyway, and b) your reply completely ignores what I just said. Alai 17:33, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then create upmerged templates for the districts, on the same basis. Alai 17:49, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you were objecting that the districts were going to rapidly have 60+ stubs each? I haven't yet bothered creating any district categories, as it probably would indeed be somewhat confusing to have some districts, when several regions don't yet have categories, but what I have done is create templates for several districts, feeding into the regional categories, to make a later split easier, and avoid having to re-tag later (much as I described earlier for the regions that haven't been "templated" yet). Alai 18:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's that? Bone, you say?[edit]

You want me to throw you a bone?

I know exactly what you mean about missing articles - there are a couple that I'm still surprised aren't on here. Mostly related to opera; I'm a big opera fan, so I tend to notice the things that are missing. I'm slowly working my way through those and trying to fill a couple of the more significant gaps.
Happy editing! Oh, and I hope the cat enjoys the bone. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graham Jessop[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Graham Jessop, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. About Talk: Race Differences in Intelligence[edit]

Sorry about wiping out your work, but it lloked to me like any of a large number of such "guesstimated IQ" lists that are rather abundant on the Web. In all honesty, that kind of speculative data is inappropriate in this article.--Ramdrake 22:07, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ernst, please supply a source for your data, or it will get removed fairly soon, I guess. I just put in a (citation needed) tag for now. As of right now, it is unsourced info, thus a prime candidate for deletion.--Ramdrake 00:11, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wharemauku Stream edit[edit]

With regards to your edit summary on Wharemauku Stream, did you bother to actually read the template? Your summary states "how is this linkless. what are you on about? it has tons of links to others", while the actual linkless template says "There are very few or no other articles that link to this [article]." In other words, incoming (not outgoing) links! At the time I made the article, nothing whatsoever linked to it, and now two articles link there, which I think still qualifies as "very few". - Axver 11:31, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. I'll put the template back unless there's any objection, as I think it still warrants it due to having only two incoming links. - Axver 11:36, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Template's restored now. No hard feelings; have a good one! - Axver 11:46, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm trying to create enough pages so that the linkless template is no longer required, and to cover geographical features of the Kapiti Coast that are presently lacking articles, as the region isn't very comprehensively covered. Not proving to be as easy as I thought though, especially as I'm uncertain of what notability standards exist for parks. - Axver 12:38, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I know very much what you mean about missing articles! I've been trying to get rid of all of the red links in the sections of Wikipedia where I specialise (New Zealand railways and any associated geography), but it's a massive task. If every person who added a red link went ahead and made articles for five currently missing pages, we probably would soon hit that 10 million articles mark! If only people were even half as diligent as that ... - Axver 11:06, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, all the red links aren't a good look for the site at all. The only reason I ever let them appear in articles I write is so that I have a guide for more articles to create. Keeps me busy. I just remind myself that Wikipedia's young; give the place another ten years and I think it will be far closer to achieving its potential (especially if we can do something about all those damn vandals!). - Axver 11:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crash photo[edit]

Hi. I (sadly) reverted this splendid photo out (which I uploaded) because its fair use justification only allows its use on the one article specifically on the crash. I am awfully sorry, wish that it were otherwise, and would welcome a way round this but don't see what that would be. Sorry. --Guinnog 21:16, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal[edit]

Greetings! Under your former identity you were kind enough to write me a line of encouragement while the Geary-gang was assaulting me (that war was lost when an Admin was fooled by Geary's lies), praising my good work on Catholic Encyclopaedia. Well, now I'm under equally vicous attack from a hot headed Italian (I'm guessing 'Peppone style' communist) who goes by the appropriately hunnish pseudonym Attilios- he systematically mutilates content I introduced from the CE -especially on dioceses, recently also on quite some biographies-, frequently using such 'non POV' (of course he shouts the CE and I incarnate POV) terms of endearment as 'stupid ecclesiastical history' and even asked Advocacy (whatever that is) to block me permanently. So if you still feel CE articles need to be wikified and approve of my input, this might be a good time to step in by reverting his deletionism and perhaps state your view on [[1]]. Fastifex 13:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi! Thanks for help with Fastifex, but I think he's too obtuse (sorry, no WikiLoevish, but I've no other terms to define his conduct) to hear any reason. Give a check here : Wikipedia:AMA Requests for Assistance/Requests/October 2006/Attilios, so you'll see with what an ease he says that Wikipedia's policies are not "God's word", and that he therefore will continue to behave as he prefers, substantially. Could I count on your help if a proceddure of banning will be started against him? Ciao and good work. --Attilios 14:18, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think about the situation? Fastifex is continuining in his former way to behave. His newest articles are again and again copy-paste from Catholic Encyclopedia, without any editing on it, wrong categorisations and links (typical: linking only the surname of people cited only by it in these old articles), etc. He has also totally reverted my attempts to wikify his old stuff, without any care even of the typos I had corrected. Ciao!! --Attilios 15:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for...[edit]

your editing of Urdu Digest. At present it is small but I hope it will grow. I am new on wikipedia. And can I request your help if I face any problem on the way to learning?

I feel we have similarities in likes.

Well at present one problem. How to change the headline?

I have written a small article on Almanzor peak in Spain. Some body without thinking changed its name to Pico Almanzor that is a spanish name and local. I told the person that in English wikipedia we should prefer to use english or universal name.

Please read my comments in that person's discussions area.

And yes another problem. Tilla Jogian is just 30 kilometer to my home a sacred place and the highest mountain in many districts. I have added my own pictures in it. But the article is although lengthy but does not give sufficient information. How much I can change it ? Does not the other person will feel unhappy although I sufficiently think the article has insufficient information.

waiting for reply.

Thanks for that positive change.

Well how in your user page you have added colourful informative tags about you?

About the photo you added to the Graeme Hick article... it's nice, but I don't think it's going to be acceptable, because the criteria listed in the tag template include:

where the image is unrepeatable, i.e. a free image could not be created to replace it

That's clearly not the case with Hick: he's both still alive and still appearing in public (ie by playing cricket), and it's perfectly possible for someone to take a photo of him. Whether a free image has been created is not the point: the tag specifically requires that it could not be created. Loganberry (Talk) 23:03, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't vandalism, we are currently trying to merge all the pages onto a few lists because the character pages are so small and the template is getting huge. Cbrown1023 14:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
