A tag has been placed on George Sorby requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Probably not a good idea to write an article about yourself. AnemoneProjectors 23:38, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Archive counter[edit]

I just saw you changed your archive counter from 1 to 12. I guess you meant 2 not 12 but I just thought I'd let you know that the bot updates it automatically when the 1st archive is full. If you want smaller archives than 120k, just change 120k to a smaller number :-) Your current archive is only 41k. AnemoneProjectors 00:43, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Armored souls[edit]

Hello GSorbyDesroid. I am just letting you know that I deleted Armored souls, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Nancy talk 20:22, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I'm still getting used to Twinkle. I only started using it last week ;) --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 20:30, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this was a mistake? I fixed it. Regards, P. D. Cook Talk to me! 20:19, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no, I was trying to move it to another title, but it wouldn't let me... --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 20:20, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I'm not sure there is currently consensus to move the page yet. I'd give it at least a week. The reason you couldn't move the page is because the target already exists. You can only move a page to an existing target if that target is a redirect to the page you wish to move. Otherwise, you'll have to request that the page be moved. Regards, P. D. Images[edit]

I thought you knew non-free images had to be of a low resolution. Also the "purpose of use" for File:Stacey's Confession.jpg needs to be changed because it's not an infobox image. You need to explain how it passes WP:NFCC#8. Thanks. AnemoneProjectors 23:12, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh MAN! I knew I'd forgot something! I knew it!! Yes sure, I will make the necessary arrangements. Merry Christmas AP! :) --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 23:18, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Merry Christmas to you too :-) AnemoneProjectors 23:19, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is that any better? The resolution and purpose of use for File:Stacey's Confession.jpg? --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 23:27, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Resolution is good. Purpose is a tricky one, I'm never really sure myself what to put there. I would never attempt to upload a storyline image because you need to show that the image adds to the understanding of the text. But never mind! AnemoneProjectors 00:56, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But it's still better than the Stacey/Max image, so there you go. AnemoneProjectors 01:02, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think you should redo Laura Beale's picture so it can be 200px in the article - although it is actually 200px on the image page. AnemoneProjectors 20:20, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anemone, that Laura picture is generally bad bad bad. It needs replacing. --GSorby Chat with Me! 20:22, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Leave it as it is for now then until a new one can be found? AnemoneProjectors 23:09, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I'm sure I can get one :) --GSorby Chat with Me! 00:18, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol what a horrible picture :D AnemoneProjectors 00:33, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Better than that last one!! Most facial one I could get though :O --GSorby Chat with Me! 00:35, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That is not better, that's an awful picture. The other one is fine, I dont know why u hate it so much. She's facing the camera and it really is not as bad as u suggest.GunGagdinMoan 01:06, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's really bad quality, can you not get in better quality? --GSorby Chat with Me! 12:54, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored an older version which is better quality and not as hideous, so maybe we could use this one? All the old versions of the other one look pixelated. AnemoneProjectors 13:50, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind using that one but Gungadin says it's not facial enough. I'll revert it and see what she says. --GSorby Chat with Me! 17:16, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, lets keep this one until something better can be found. its not bad just dont like side facing images but will see if I can find something better sometime.GunGagdinMoan 18:54, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Keep watching those documentaries, they recently repeated the 50 greatest weddings one, I'm sure Laura was seen in that. I don't think it's available on iPlayer though. AnemoneProjectors 21:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to ask me in the edit summary to delete the old revisions :-) AnemoneProjectors 16:25, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No it's not me, my browser just does it when I type R into the summary. I left you a mesage btw. --GSorby Chat with Me! 16:27, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving over your RFA ?[edit]

[1]. ? Please do not. Many admins have failed 1, 2 or more RFA's. You would not have started an RFA if you didn't like the place. A close read of the opposes (mine included) is clear your work is valued - you just need a bit more time and experience. Pedro :  Chat  21:18, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Pedro, your contributions are valued, you just don't have the experience at the moment that the community expect an admin to have. Bear in mind, also, that admins can get a lot of abuse - we sometimes block people from editing, we delete articles, etc - and people don't always like that! Part of being an admin involves being criticised, or abused! Keep up the excellent work you are doing, and don't worry about adminship at the moment -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 21:28, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
BTW I've asked someone uninvolved to close the RFA - I think you've had enough feedback, and I really hope you don't take it to harshly. Pedro :  Chat  21:24, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I regret to inform you that, in accordance with WP:NOTNOW, I have closed your RFA. Please don't be discouraged, and please don't leave over this process. I know at least one current crat who only passed RFA on his third attempt; just take some time and build up your experience before thinking about another RFA. If you have any questions about RFA, feel free to come and ask me. Courcelles 21:37, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed on your user page: "I may leave Wikipedia because people just go on at me saying that I'm doing more bad than good" - I really don't see anyone saying that at all. RfA is stressful, but as has been pointed out, being an admin genuinely involves a lot of stress, and it requires a good level of maturity to deal with. And I'm sure that's part of the reason some people opposed (I know I did) - we really don't want to drop you into something that we know is very tough, unless we're really sure you're ready. So please, stick around, and carry on your great work. Take it easy, and don't worry about admin for a bit - you're young, and there's really no rush. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 21:57, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This has nothing to do with my RfA!, I just think what's the point of being here if all I do is the same old reverting, same old editting, same old correcting. It gets boring after a year... GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 21:59, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind about this, let's just forget it. I was having a bad day and I would've said anything. I'm better today though :) GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 21:13, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Pleased to hear it :-) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 21:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to do the same old reverting or editing. If you write an article, you get a new experience every time. That's the beauty of writing, for me at least. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 17:59, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i am a bit confuse on how to add a image on a character. I tried a few things but is seemed to go a bit wrong!!!!! also how do you make a characetr be on a new page so like for Vanessa Gold she has a seperate page but Jodie Gold should ahve one to but i cnatmake her one! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MayhemMario (talkcontribs) 16:58, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you need to discuss at the WikiProject about splitting off characters. Vanessa has a reception section and more refs. Jodie is not eligible to be split off yet. There are no images allowed on lists prior to 2010. --GSorby Chat with Me! 17:04, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

but detail is betetr! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MayhemMario (talkcontribs) 18:39, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's pointless to add overly detailed information to articles. The only information we need really is things relating to storylines or major happenings. --GSorby Chat with Me! 18:41, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the point is there is too much detail. Especially relating to Connor, it's not important to his article what happened to Bianca. We should keep storylines as brief as possible and only mention the major plotlines. AnemoneProjectors 19:18, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She attends Tommy Moon's funeral alongside Kat and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). She and Patrick set up a alcohol filled car on the Argee Barghee re-opening night much to the disgust of Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia) and sell outside on the road as the restaurant does not have a license.

Is that okay? Not being mean, just asking!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MayhemMario (talkcontribs) 17:07, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not overall important to Kim's storyline. It's just a minor event. AnemoneProjectors 21:14, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Usually it's me or AnemoneProjectors. Look at the WT:EE and discuss it there. --GSorby Chat with Me! 17:52, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

so wy dont you just do it,if you split them off you can do what you like!--MayhemMario (talk) 17:57, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

'Fraid not. It's all discussed at the EastEnders WikiProject. I don't own none of this. It's up to the community. --GSorby Chat with Me! 17:58, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, we like to reach a consensus before we split off any characters from the lists. Jodie is the same reason as Kim although with the new Poppy scenes there might be more, I'll have a go at it in my userspace if you like and see if it's worthy. AnemoneProjectors 18:18, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to bring this up on WT:EE now as I've got 10 references now. AnemoneProjectors 19:20, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Corrie characters list[edit]

Hi GSorby, re this edit - I'm just wondering why you think dates shouldn't be included, so long as they're sourced? I know the EastEnders list chooses not to use them, but it's been a facet of the Corrie list for as long as I've had it watchlisted (about 2 years, at a guess). Would you mind opening it up to discussion on the talk page, maybe? Frickative 19:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I guess. But I think things like Role=Regular/Recurring and the month when they're returning makes it look untidy. I look at the EE list, then the corrie list, and I can see what a mess that corrie list was. C'mon you must agree? :-) --GSorby Chat with Me! 19:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, no, hence why I raised the issue :p I don't think aesthetics is a good reason to remove content, as long as it's verifiable. Frickative 19:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I suppose. Only referenced information then? GSorby Chat with Me! 19:20, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, looking through the sources present, not all properly supported the dates that had been included, but this is a pretty solid resource for them. Roles I'm less sure and not particularly bothered about, but other editors might feel differently. Frickative 19:26, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know the Neighbours list uses dates for arrivals and departures but everything is removed if it's not referenced, so Corrie should be the same. –AnemoneProjectors– 20:23, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Character images[edit]

Hello, I am afraid you have been uploading far too many non-free images of TV characters, e.g. the ones for Pat Evans. Per WP:NFCC, use of non-free images needs to be reduced to the minimum that is absolutely necessary. One image for a notable character is usually okay, perhaps two if the character has been going through a very significance change of appearance (as in the Pat Evans case), but six is really beyond the pale. Please make up your mind which ones you find essential so that the others can be marked for deletion. Thanks, – Fut.Perf. 12:07, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fut.Perf. GSorby is just cropping and maybe slightly improving the quality (colours etc) of the existing images, he's not uploading anything new. But in general, EastEnders article editors are removing excessive images from articles (especially storyline images). –AnemoneProjectors– 12:58, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yusef image[edit]

Nothing wrong with the image but I think Michael, Julie and Greg should have come first :-) In fact, I might restore Michael's previous image. Do you want to get one of Julie? Maybe we can leave Greg for now, as that would mean 6 images on the page, and the more we get, the more likely it is to bring attention to it. –AnemoneProjectors– 18:22, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, Greg barely appears so it's hard to get an image but I'll try. Julie shouldn't be too hard :) GSorby Chat with Me! 19:05, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want a different image, please find one that is actually better. Two people disagree with you. Perhaps it is because the new one is not centered and not head on. If you could find one in which is a close up and centered then it would be fine.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 16:47, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image names[edit]

I don't think you need to change "Denise fox" to "Denise Fox EE". If you think it should have a capital letter, I think the image name can match the article name, so just "Denise Fox" would be ok, or "Fatboy (EastEnders)". That's what I would do if I was bothered about renaming them (which I'm not as in most cases I don't think there's any need to). –AnemoneProjectors– 12:48, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm[edit]

I wasn't sure if we were allowed to use the official Twitter logo in the template, but it makes sense under fair use due to the obvious association to the site. Thanks for putting that in, wasn't sure which one was the official one either. Ironically, I don't tweet myself; I merely made the template after seeing a talk page comment on another talk page saying we didn't have such a template. =) CycloneGU (talk) 06:30, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See the original one on the template page, which I uploaded and is identical (but poorer quality I'd say) than this one. I provide the source in that copy of the image. The source clearly states the image can be freely used. It doesn't say anything about altering it, but that then is a modification of a free image and GSorby is clearly releasing the modified version into the public domain. Thus, what is the copyright issue? CycloneGU (talk) 23:52, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's because in the image properties, like with all images, they carry additional info that is easily viewed. That and it's fairly easy to remove the eyes of the bird using any basic image editing software..RAIN*the*ONE BAM 00:00, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where are these image properties? CycloneGU: The current image is fine, but GSorby uploaded one that he apparently copied from somewhere else and not the site that you found, altered it and claimed it as free. That's what the problem was. I've deleted that revision though. –AnemoneProjectors– 00:42, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I made up the image properties example. =P
Also, I was reviewing the edits where I know I've seen that bird before...and it wasn't there. The image file history also seemed to be missing it. So I concluded an administrative removal had taken place. CycloneGU (talk) 01:22, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Frickative and I were just discussing Rob and we think it's best if most of the information is moved to Whitney's article, with a link there from Rob's for more information. Frickative is planning to write up the recent Revealed documentary as well, which will give more information. It will mean there's else repeatition between Rob and Whitney, and Rob's section will be more about the character and less about the overall storyline. But do keep your draft as the references might be useful. –AnemoneProjectors– 22:02, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sian Powers and Sophie Webster image update[edit]

The Sophie Webster's image is nearly 2 years, produced 7 April 2009. The Sian Powers image is also nearly 2 years old. She started on Corrie January 2009, that capture is from that early period. The actresse's playing these two characters, have totally evolved their characters appearances, and in 2011 look nothing like the images you reverted too. Hence my update, using captures from this ( March ) months episode. Gren500 (talk) 20:00, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, but they are worse quality, and by the way, they haven't changed. I know how images work on Wikipedia, just take a look at my uploads. Try Pat Evans or Peggy Mitchell for example. They haven't changed in appearance unless your counting the wrinkles. Those images of Sian and Sophie are fine GSσяву Chat with Me! 20:13, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Because Hilda Braid is dead but Molly Conlin is alive. A free image of Conlin could be created, but one of Braid could not. See Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, criterion 1 "No free equivalent". –AnemoneProjectors– 11:29, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from a different hair style, she looks exactly the same as in the infobox image. What about this particular image "significantly increase[s] readers' understanding of the topic", that can't be conveyed textually? Frickative 16:47, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Granted, I see that (the ibox image is a very nice shot), but do you think readers would have a lesser understanding that Rainie was on drugs if they didn't see a picture of her looking a bit haggard? The purpose of use in the FUR says that it's the "primary means of visual identification of the subject", but isn't the infobox image primary means of visual ID? I couldn't think of anyone she could get with... I had a thought though... do you reckon Greg is leaving too but they're not telling us so we don't come to the conclusion that Max and Tanya are getting back together? :D –AnemoneProjectors– 22:53, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pics[edit]

Hi just wondering about this... At the moment we're getting away with EastEnders pcitures on the 2010 and 2011. Can we add some to 2008 if we be sneaky or not? MayhemMario (talk) 16:47, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let's not go overboard. Maybe, but just wait a little while. GSσяву Dιng Dσng! 18:01, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No! They've all been removed by another user, we're not going to sneak them back just because we think we can get away with going against Wikipedia's policies. –AnemoneProjectors– 18:48, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

deleting refs[edit]

Hi, it's not a good idea to remove dead refs if the link no longer works. That would be like saying that the information is only viable as long as it's active on line. The refs provide proof that the article did exist, even if it no longer does, and removing them means the info is unsourced. Please see Wikipedia:Link rot GunGagdinMoan 15:39, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, see I don't know the terms of all this!! I'll get used to it :) GSorby - Talk! 15:45, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your image was inserted successfully into Ken Barlow, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. There is a talk on the talk page the image is placed at. Consensus needs to be confirmed. There is talk that using more of the image may be appropriate - however you ignored such suggestions with bold edits - not considering what may be the best use of the image. GA Article Failure[edit]

Hi just asking if you could find a picture of Heather Chasen playing 1) Chasen playing Valerie in Crossroads 2) Picture of Chasen as herself 3) Chasen in Navy Lark? Even if you got one of them i would be over the moon! This time just saying can you find ones we can actually use? Thanks a lot and if you find one for Conlin we can actually use that would be great! MayhemMario (talk) 16:59, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Even though I'm obsessed with this woman now (cause she's so funny) I didn't know she existed before EastEnders so sorry :( GSorby - Talk! 17:11, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I own no free images. Sorry GSorby - Talk! 17:24, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
also, completey differnet subject, will grace be leaving with mercy? I think until it's confrimed we shouldnt do anyhting, obviously but just want to put my point frowards. MayhemMario (talk) 17:26, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Grace may not leave but it seems likely. However, her arrival wasn't announced and neither will her departure. We'll just have to wait for the episodes. Mario, do you understand what "free content" is, with regard to images, and do you understand the non-free media policies of Wikipeda? You keep asking for pictures of people. –AnemoneProjectors– 21:02, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kelly Taylor image[edit]

Hi, I think we should either leave it with the one I managed to get to work, or if you are desperate to slightly change it again, upload it from scratch with a completely new file name. But I have no idea why it's messing up so much. –AnemoneProjectors– 16:59, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okey dokey :) It's so bloody frustrating though!! lol GSorby - Talk! 17:06, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Got it to work :L I reverted to my version and moved the file and it worked GSorby - Talk! 17:07, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Or just keep trying... –AnemoneProjectors– 17:13, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, I've finished now...you may delete or whatever :) GSorby - Talk! 17:14, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You kept trying though lol and I've already deleted or whatever :P –AnemoneProjectors– 21:12, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the theme tune sample, I wasn't going to revert it lol –AnemoneProjectors– 19:42, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could you look at my comment on Talk:Jackson Walsh and tell me what you think. No one edits Emmerdale articles so it is best to ask other people from other projects. Thanks.

Erm....[edit]

George, hi, I am a friendly admin who's trying to look at some of the issues concerning Fatty2k10. Now comments like this are never a good idea, and someone in the past has written a page --> Wikipedia:Don't poke the bear which summarises it well. PS: I used to watch east enders and if you need some advice in shoving a few articles toward GA status I can have a look. Casliber (talk · contribs) 00:49, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
