Future adminship

I see you contributing at AfDs and other administrative areas. That's quite nice and promising. In case you wish to become an admin in the future (and it will be a pleasure to nominate you then), you would have to expand your editing experience. A good place to start would be to author a few new articles yourself... perhaps get a few to the good articles stage... It's not that admin prospects have to necessarily create good articles to become administrators. It's just that an administrator who has involved himself/herself in key editing areas can judiciously use the admin tools. Thought I'll leave these points here as I really appreciated your expanding involvement. Best. Wifione Message 15:33, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the advice! I'll take it seriously as I wish to be an administrator in the future. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 00:37, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Request

Hello. I would like to request respectfully, if I might, that Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sonovista Publicidad S.A. be either re-opened for close by an admin, closed as a delete, or relisted (as the indicated guidance states: "in general, debates should not be relisted more than twice. Users relisting a debate for a third (or further) time ... should write a short explanation ... on why they did not consider the debate sufficient."). Two of the three !voters were in favor of deletion (which supports a delete close). The third also was not in favor of it remaining as a stand-alone article, though his preferences were redirect/merge. To close with a result of keeping the article (via non-consensus) seems at odds with the 2/3 who were in favor of delete. And the 100 per cent sentiment that keeping the article is not appropriate. Thanks for your consideration.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:23, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

hi there,

I have followed the advise on your help forums half a dozen times and the article is constantly being rejected. You said I need more secondary reliable sources? I have included 17 sources, only one of which is from the band's website. The URLs for many of the links are on the Caretaker website as I was told by the wikipedia helpdesk to scan in pictures of articles from published magazines if there was no online resource for them. My article contains The BBC as a source and NME and Kerrang, two of the world's longest running and most respected music periodicals. I'm really not sure what you want from me. Please could you explain in detail, before I commit to several more hours of my life to this task?

Apologies if I come across as snippy, but I have made sure at every edit that I follow the advice and instruction of Wikipedia, it's chat forums and it volunteers, and I am getting nowhere. The whole point of writing this article was because the BBC want a Bio for the band, and only use wikipedia pages (see here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/74cdf8e1-b378-4c01-a494-4835e940816b)

Many thanks

"only one of which is from the band's website" appears to be false. There are a dozen of sources from caretakerband.com - and you have only provided two secondary reliable. Please read WP:RS and WP:V and continue to work on the article. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 09:51, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Lumines Electronic Symphony, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Orbital (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Page on Christopher Tsai

Good morning B. ,

I've been working on a page about Christoper Tsai, an American art collector, that you were kind enough to review a few days ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Christopher_Tsai

In answer to your question, the page primarily concerns the Person - someone I believe to be 'notable' primarily because of his patronage of several significant contemporary Chinese artists. Therefore, his collection and house/gallery obviously warrant a mention in any article about the man. (His business interests, though significant, are not really a major consideration from my perspective.)

Some would argue that the Person, the Collection and the House require separate pages - I do not. However, I think given the inextricable links each has to such a particularly controversial dissident artist (Ai Weiwei), a single page is more than appropriate from a cultural and political viewpoint.

Would appreciate your comments on where to go from here.

Many thanks,

Dear Bmusician,

The article I have written is on a professional NFL coach named Paul Boudreau. He will be coaching the St. Louis Rams of the NFL for the 2012season. His name currently appears on more than 18 Wikipedia pages http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=%22paul+boudreau%22&fulltext=Search but without his own Wikipedia page to provide further information. Also many other Assistant level coaches found alongside him on those pages have their own Wikipedia page. He is a 26 year veteran NFL coach and I feel he should be allowed to be recognized by Wikipedia users.

As for providing more sources regarding his notability. Here are a few:

Okay, would you be willing to cite these sources in the article? (excluding the first one, blogs are not reliable) Please let me know if you need more assistance. Good Morning Bmusician -- I have added some inline references to the Community Futres Program page. I have also added links to the provincial association website across the country that are responsible for the 269 not-for-profit organizations that work on rural economic development. How do I resubmit this article for review? Taxelsson (talk) 18:34, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Edit conflict

Please do not clean up articles, such as EuroMiniStorage while they are under review by another editor after being moved form AfC. It is a waste of other editors time, dealing with edit conflicts. There was a clear message at the top of the article stating the review was underway. I'm ceasing help on AfC, there are obviously too few articles and too many over-eager editors. Sionk (talk) 05:05, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Excuse me, but is calling me an a**hole and then resigning for one mistake an editor made mature nor necessary? I more than specifically stated on my editnotice that "If I make a mistake while on duty, please notify me; as long as your comments are within the bounds of civility, I will listen to you." Behaving in such a rude manner will number one, not help anyone achieve anything, and number two, not help me learn from my mistakes. I apologize if I did anything wrong, but I do not wish to be treated in such a manner. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 05:25, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Of course, you're right, I shouldn't have used the 'A' word in the edit summary, I apologise for that. But it is dispiriting when I spend 20-25 minutes checking and translating the sources of a long AfC, accept it, move it to mainspace and start clean-up, only to find another more experienced editor has taken it over. The 'under review' messages are there to prevent duplication of work, as far as I understand. It was not the first time this happened yesterday and it made me realise there were better places I could be spending my time. Please spare the lectures on what I can and cannot display on my own profile page. Sionk (talk) 15:51, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Why did you request the deletion of your old user/talkpage again? Those pages are linked from everyone of your old signatures. You already have a message at User talk:B.wilson from somebody with questions about a PROD of yours. If you want no connections between your new account and this one you should have gone for a wp:CLEANSTART rather than a rename. I will reinstate the redirects for now. Yoenit (talk) 12:15, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
As I've said on my talk page in more detail here, I think this violates if not the letter, then the spirit of WP:SIGLINK. There appears to be about 4,700 signatures that this breaks, leaving no connection between your posts and you; no easy way to find you from your past edits. The note about the prod above is a perfect example of why this is a problem.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:32, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Ok understood, I will not trouble on this matter anymore. Cheers, Bmusician 12:37, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the Notability for JEERK

It was mentioned that I needed to provide why JEERK is important enough for inclusion on Wiki. According to the Wiki page regarding notability for music groups, it is stated that they must meet at least one of the criteria. Number 12 states "Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network"

1. As stated, they were guest performers on Eurovision, which according to [1], "Every year an estimated amount of 125 million viewers watch the Eurovision Song Contest"

2. They performed in 2006 at the European Athletics Championships opening ceremony. According to [2], "Göteborg 2006 had a total audience of 340 million over the seven days of the championships"

If I include those two facts, would that be sufficient?

Thank you!

Liarramichelle (talk) 05:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Liarramichelle 7/Feb/12

Thank you for taking the time to write an article. The decline was due to the article not adequately referenced by reliable third-party sources, so there wasn't a way to establish notability. If it passes criterion number twelve of notability, please indicate that in the article and support it by a reliable third party source. Please let me know if I can be of any more help. --Bmusician 10:45, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Jonathan Avigdori

Hi Bmusician,
You proposed this article for deletion Jonathan Avigdori. I just wanted to ask what kind of references you want. I have added every reliable reference I could find on the internet.

Pages like Ossie Beck are also there, quoting just three references, and still you have placed the deletion tag on the article of Jonathan Avigdori. May I ask what kind of references you want for the page of an actor?

Inlandmamba (talk) 07:24, 8 February 2012 (UTC) moved from your old talkpage Yoenit (talk) 12:24, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello. The majority of your article is supported by unreliable sources, such as Wikia (ugh) and IMDb. Please read WP:IRS and note that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS does not address the notability issue. You've also seemingly contested the prod. --Bmusician 15:48, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Response

hello. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and give the advice, about the deletion matter. I do understand it. It would have been better if I wrote a lot more a lot sooner, or from the beginning. With ref sources, and expanded contextual things, etc. I know that. I do appreciate the help and words. And the point about "speedy deletion" situations. Whether I totally agree with its hasty implementation by some, or not. I KNOW that I should have written more in the beginning. That would have been better, I know.

I was just making the point that it would have been nice if more than 3 seconds were given in deleting the thing. Like maybe 24 hours. That was it. Regards. Hashem sfarim (talk) 21:03, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

If you wanted to be given "like maybe 24 hours" to write the article, then you could have done a userspace draft. Cheers. --Bmusician 01:51, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

GoHa.Ru Review

Sorry, What kind of "reliable sources that are independent of the subject" are you looking for? Most of the sources listed are independent of the subject (except for the ones demonstrating the forum), they're just in the same industry. Tataxfn (talk) 21:41, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Reliable sources per WP:IRS that are independent of the subject. The article is not adequately referenced by them, because four of them are affiliated with the topic, and I'm not sure if the Igromir-Expo source is considered reliable. --Bmusician 01:50, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination for "Blackberrys" page.

Hey! I just created this page. It's been not even seconds since I created it. Do not add such tags until at least 30 mins. I need some time to complete the page. Then you can assess it. It would be foolish to add tags (adding such tags itself would be spamming!). I need some time to fully furnish relevant information. The page is still being created. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sahils1512 (talkcontribs) 05:06, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

I converted it into a PROD, but the tone of the article seems to be like advertising. And "adding such tags itself would be spamming!"??!!!?? It is my job to patrol new pages and tag those that qualify for speedy deletion. As for "I need some time to fully furnish relevant information": If you want to start your article with less risk of deletion then please start a WP:USERSPACEDRAFT. Also, please remember to sign and date your posts. --Bmusician 05:12, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Okay. I am new to editing the Wikipedia. And I haven't voluntarily "messed up" your talk page. Please do not feel offended. I suppose you are an administrator here (on Wikipedia). I do not know much. I have added some citations to the page, and have added the logo as well. And I'm searching for further information to update the page. But I just don't get it. Why did you add the tag even before the page was created? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sahils1512 (talkcontribs) 05:32, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, it probably wasn't you. I'm not an administrator here but am a rollbacker. I also can't "tag" pages before they're created. How is that possible? As I said before, it's a PROD now. If your want to contest the PROD, then remove it. Cheers. --Bmusician 05:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Hey I've removed the PROD after rewriting the article with reliable sources. Goodvac (talk) 07:12, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Seems to look better. --Bmusician 07:13, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/My Brother (book)

Given there are but one review of this book please explain your rational for closing as keep. Darkness Shines (talk) 10:13, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

There was a clear consensus on this AfD for keep. WP:NBOOK was established, and only having one review of the book is irrelevant to its notability. If you disagree with my closure then take it to WP:DRV. --Bmusician 10:56, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Having only one review is highly relevant as it is due to this it actually fails WP:NBOOK. Counting the votes and a link bomb is not how you close an AFD. I shall take it to DRV as instructed. Darkness Shines (talk) 11:01, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I did NOT count the votes and view the link bomb to close this AfD. The consensus was CLEARLY to keep, and the "The book has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works appearing in sources that are independent of the book itself" statement is NOT the entirety of WP:NBOOK so I highly suggest that you reread it. (FYI the debate had a comment which stated that it might pass criterion number three in NBOOK). And so the fact that there's only one review of the book (if that is true) is irrelevant if it meets any other criteria. Good luck at the deletion review. --Bmusician 11:32, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Happy Cake

Hello Bmusician,

As a newbie, I am trying to create an article.

I would be grateful for five minutes of your time. I need your help in terms of how to present the article in a way that proves it's noteworthyness, without violating copyrights or sounding cheesy.

In the article there is mention of Presidents enjoying the cake. President Ronald Reagan's photo with a Happy Cake the the creator Mr. Dick Rodby. is on the company's webpage

President Reagan and Dick Rodby enjoying a Happy Cake

But we would not be allowed to place that photo on Wikipedia. As well there are two letters from Frank Sinatra, three letters from Lana Turner and more recently James MacArthur of Old Hawaiia Five-O fame was a big customer.

And there is a scanned copy of a 1972 Sears Roebuck Catalog featuring the Happy Cake. But would that not be a violation of Sear's copyright if I put that photo up?

The cake is unique, it has been around for 45 years, has it's own registered trademark, it is distinctly Hawaiian and has quite a fan following.

The referenced articles mention these Hollywood connections, but cannot really show specifics.

Might you have any suggestions on how to prove the genuiness of the product, to reinforce the noteworthyness.

Thank you Bmusician. --Janwantstoknow (talk) 08:09, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

I apologize for my late reply. Presently the notability of the topic cannot be established as it is not adequately referenced by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Photos are not enough to establish notability and infringing copyright is a no-no. And the sources don't have to be online - any book, news article, magazine or etc that is reliable can be used as a reliable source. Take reads at WP:GNG, WP:IRS , and WP:REFB and please let me know if you need any further assistance. --Bmusician 15:36, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Aloha BMusician, Tks for feedback, and apologies for any weak format. Some more searching produced newspaper articles mentioning the Kemoo Farms Happy Cake from New Jersey, to California to Hawaii spanning from 1972 to 2011. With additional magazine and book references, we hope hope that we have shown that the Happy Cake is a unique Hawaiian Gourmet dessert with sufficient notability. Respectfully, Janwantstoknow (talk) 07:38, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Aloha BMusician,

Wikipedia uses what's called caching to store data. This makes it easier on our servers when it comes time to actually send you the data.

I don't know if you read all the info on the page I was working on....It was reverted from the AFC group so shouldn't have been accessed by any reviewers yet. You can delete your 'review' since I was on the page already. I've been trying to work on it for the past 2 hours, and all I get are problems, including lost/hidden text and codes that I haven't been able to fix. I'll have to delete and start over, since nothing works. Another thing...has anyone but me noticed that the icon for addition of reflinks is missing from the viewer? Blurbzone (talk) 07:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

I can't "delete" reviews, I can only "revert" them. Either way, I'll try to fix the problem. --Bmusician 08:24, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
You have blanked your submission and thus it was declined as blank. --Bmusician 08:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
(moved from bottom of talk page: please keep similar discussions at the same section) Hello again: Do you mind leaving the JM Mungai page alone for about the next 2-6 hours? I don't know how it's being reviewed while I'm working on it. Have re-installed it, but I have some touch-ups to do on the links and references. Blurbzone (talk) 10:39, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Late on Feb. 15th, 2012....The re-installed page has been prepped for review. Unless it's going straight to national biographies, I'll need assistance in getting it to the 'Educators' categories which include Vice-chancellors of universities.Blurbzone (talk) 21:42, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Afc: Tony Humpreys -> Tony Humphreys

Please can you correct an article title? The article title should be "Tony Humphreys" with an "h". It is currently "Tony Humpreys".

Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.77.43.30 (talk) 08:47, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Yannick Mireur review

Thanks for your review. Let me just adress a few things: regarding to the notability he wrote different academic books etc. but previously I have been told that I have to delete the writings part because it is too narrative. Secondly I have plenty of newspaper articles where journalists analyse his books etc. which would be great as a independent and reliable source as stated by you but they are all in hard copy and hence I dont know how to do. It's already the second time that the article has been declined so I really appreciate every hint and idea which helps me to finally put online the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lorenzone89 (talkcontribs) 09:40, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Let me say this: the article lacks reliable sources that are independent of the subject. I will, however, continue to help you if you still need it. --Bmusician 09:45, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for offering me your help. So do you have any suggestions on how I could do with the 3rd part hard copy sources to upload them (is it even possible?) Any other things I can do to improve the article?

Decline of Unisonic (band) article

Hello,

Yesterday I uploaded a new article for "Unisonic (band)", you rejected my submission due to "This submission doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject". Could you please let me know what needs to be included on the article, so that it is not rejected?

1) The band's new EP has received several reviews (here you can read a list of physical and online media: http://unisonicfanclub.com/?page_id=1203) and Unisonic is on the set list of at least 2 big European festivals (Rock Hard Festival and Masters Of Rock). The band has also given an Interview to a Japanese magazine after their performance at Loud Park Festival 2011. The band is also featured on the cover of the forthcoming Scream magazine (Norway): http://www.screammagazine.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=34

2)The band contains several notable rock and metal musicians from bands like Helloween, Gamma Ray, Gotthard and Pink Cream 69.

3)The band has already appeared in both Sweden Rock festival and Masters of Rock festival in 2010. News of the band have also been posted on the Greek Metal Hammer website: http://www.metalhammer.gr/magazine/news/2647-unisonic-video-clip-kai-hansenmichael-kiske.html

Thank you

Not much has changed since the previous decline - the article still lacks reliable independent sources, and so notability can't be established. Please read WP:BAND. Don't be discouraged, I will be willing to help you with the article if you need it. --Bmusician 10:24, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

notability in Manoj Bhargava article

Can you please tell me how to include more info on notability in this bio. The subject was in Forbes Magazine and his product is on shelves around the world. I sited Fobes, Cranes, and two journals. What more is needed? Thanks for your assistance. Melanie Melanie Grimes 12:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Melapatella (talkcontribs)

The article lacks reliable sources that are independent of the topic. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any more questions. --Bmusician 12:59, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

He was interviewed in Forbes. Isn't that Independent? It was not a complimentary interview. He was given award as Entrepreneur of Year by Cranes magazine. Both are independent news sources. Please tell me how to fix this. Thanks so much.Melanie Grimes 18:56, 15 February 2012 (UTC))

Ben Franklin Academy

Hi Bmusician

Thanks for the review and feedback on Ben Franklin Academy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ben_Franklin_Academy,_Highlands_Ranch,_Colorado). Being new to this, I based the content on another school (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Franklin_Academy). Could you please give me some ideas why my post reads like an advertisement but theirs does not?

Hi. I think I misclicked the rationale - and changed it because the explanation of its notability isn't there. Please cite reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and please consider wikifying your submission. Please let me know if you need help, or you can connect to #wikipedia-en-help connect if your help is urgent. --Bmusician 01:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the Notability for JEERK

Hello again.

I am confused. When you last rejected the article on JEERK, you told me I needed to provide more third-party proof that they met requirement #12 (for which I mentioned they were eligible). I included many additional references (mostly online newspapers and wiki pages) which not only said in the article that JEERK was on the different television shows, but also sites which show the viewership of several million.

I don't mean to be difficult, I just believe that this Swedish group has done enough and in front of millions of people has performed in enough major events/television shows to warrant their inclusion. If wiki and newspapers are not enough of a third-party source, do you have any recommendations?

I appreciate your input. Thank you.

I have moved it into article space. Its notability explanation seems to be much better than before. Cheers, Bmusician 01:49, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Notability of The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools page

Dear Bmusician, I appreciate your time in reviewing the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) page. While I have added more references to the page in the effort of establishing notability, before I resubmitted for review I wanted to find out more about which type of references you are looking for when establishing notability. Since the last review, I have added articles from the L.A. Times, Education Week and the American Psychological Association, among others, which reference CHHCS. With that being said, I have the following two questions:

1) Could you please help us understand the types of references or certain types of information you are looking for when deciding whether an organization is notable?

2) I was also checking other pages such as Child Trends, the Migration Policy Institute and Nemours Foundation, and am interested in finding out how they differ with regards to notability. Could you help explain the differences between notability regarding CHHCS and the above mentioned organizations?

Your time and energy are greatly appreciated.Center for Health and Health in Schools (talk) 16:22, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Possible vandalism - explanation

Hi there, you reversed a change I made on the article Seth, saying it was vandalism. I responded on my talk page but it occurred you may want me to post on this page - not sure how this all works. Any how, can you explain why my editing might be construed as vandalism, thanks Almufasa (talk) 16:29, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Query on why my submission was not accepted

Hi You just declined to launch a page I sent in because of lack of importance however I created the page in response to the Wikipedia entry "Australian College of Theology". This page refers to many Theological colleges in Australia and virtually all of them refered to in the entry have wiki pages very similar one to the one you have just rejected. The "Australian College of Theology" actually does have a link to Trinity Theologiacl College but the link doesn't go anywhere because the page doesn't exist yet, but it will if you allow it to be published. I don't really understand why my page didn't get accepted when many similar entries on exactly the same subject ie theological education in Australia have been accepted. RegardsMollis12 (talk) 04:30, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. The article currently lacks reliable sources that are independent of the subject, so notability can't be established. Please keep in mind that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not an excuse for not having your submission accepted. Please let me know if you need more help: connect to #wikipedia-en-help connect for more instant help. Best, Bmusician 05:30, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Trinity Theological College

There are plenty of independent sources referencing Trinity Theological College. Please have a look at the following: http://www.christianhub.com.au/listing/trinity-theological-college-perth.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_evangelical_seminaries_and_theological_colleges http://ministryblue.com/colleges.html http://christianpages.com.au/trinity-theological-college/ http://www.actheology.edu.au/colleges.php http://www.pcwa.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57&Itemid=63 http://bloo.com.au/Trinity-Theological-College/Perth/Leederville/WA/6451646/ http://www.educationperth.com/listings/Trinity-Theological-College.6920

Its extremely important that potential theological students understand what a college like Trinity can offer in their service to the Lord and where it is available ie in West Australia. The information in my proposed page merely balances and puts into perspective information already published by Wiki that shows what other places can achieve a similar though not identical servisce. Mollis12 (talk) 09:53, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Then why aren't these sources listed in your submission? (Please note that a few of them are not reliable, take a look at WP:IRS and you'll know) --Bmusician 10:11, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
