Your help desk post[edit]
I saw your post on the help desk. I will echo people who responded there, in that many people promising to write Wikipedia articles for money are scammers. Please be aware that Wikipedia is not supposed to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Although there are articles about many companies on Wikipedia, those articles are not owned or controlled by the company. The information in articles should be drawn primarily from sources that are not affiliated with the subject of the article - in other words, the information should come primarily from sources other than the company's website, press releases, promotional materials, etc. If such sources don't exist, it is not possible to write an acceptable article about the company. That is the main problem faced by people trying to write about companies, especially smaller ones. On Wikipedia we describe this as notability. There are various notability guidelines for different subjects, here is the one on companies, but they all boil down to sources of information. If it turns out that your company is notable and someone can and does write about it, please be aware that it may contain information you don't like or that is embarrassing, and many people think having articles about themselves or their companies is not necessarily a good thing. If you are determined to have an article about your company, please be aware of our guidelines about conflicts of interest and our policy on paid editing. If the person you have paid to write an article about your company does follow through and write one, they must follow the paid editing policy. The vast majority of articles on Wikipedia are written by volunteers with little to no specialized expertise in what they write about. Editing Wikipedia can be fun and rewarding, or it can be stressful and difficult (sometimes both at once). I would encourage you to play around with editing - the task center lists some ways to get involved organized by experience level. As you learn the ropes here hopefully you'll begin to understand better what Wikipedia is and why it tends to be hostile towards businesses trying to use it for marketing or PR purposes. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:14, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
