  • Hey Mr Powell, you're legit. You can start playing around, and I gave you a sandbox to do that in. Dr Aaij (talk) 20:27, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Bradallenpowell, in regards to this edit, there's a bit more you can do: make wikilinks for all the five terms you introduced (see Wikipedia:Linking), and edit for tone--"you" is not encyclopedic, so rephrase that sentence. Now, there are plenty of other things that need done in that article, and to find an article that verified one of the unverified facts shouldn't be hard. Look at WP:RS and WP:N, and then WP:CITE on how to do that. After that, I'll mark you as having done exercise 2. Good luck, Dr Aaij (talk) 00:16, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You started: excellent. You will have seen that I made a serious cut, for formal reasons: the tone of that addition was not enyclopedic (the hollow eyes, the wind beneath my wings, the embracing of Christ--that's not neutral enough for our purposes), and the person is not notable (she has no article on Wikipedia, and she is not independently notable, see this search). Besides, she doesn't add anything to the article.

Now you have to do a few things. First, look at WP:CITE for how to do references. Of course, you have to find them first, and they have to meet the requirements in WP:RS. Second, you will need to write that history section about the YMCA--not about one of its visitors or about the machines they have. Third, and maybe this is first, you need to decide whether you should write about the East Y or the Montgomery Y. You have noticed one interesting fact about the Montgomery Y, but nothing interesting about the East Y--and it needs to be notable as a building or as an independently notable part for some other reason. See [[1]] and click on some of the (few) blue links to see what makes a Y notable. I think you'll see quickly that you need more than one building, probably. But that is up to you. If you want to change to the Montgomery Y, let me know and we'll move it, it's simple enough. Good luck. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:55, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved your article into your sandbox at User:Bradallenpowell/East YMCA Branch of Montgomery, Alabama. If you need any help, feel free to ask me. LadyofShalott 05:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see this has been picked up ladyof shallot. Main article space is not the place to do assignments, a sandbox like the one LadyofShalott has set up is better. In addition to the concerns expressed by Dr Aaij, the article was heavily promotional in tone, sounding like a church flyer rather than an encyclopaedia article, and needed deletion to allow a complete rewrite Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pavement article[edit]

Brad, I notified the editor who cooperated on the article, but I wanted you to know that they have done you a great favor, not just with various kinds of cleanup but especially with copyright issues. Consider dropping them a line on their talk page. Good luck, Dr Aaij (talk) 04:02, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About that article (NCAT Pavement Test Track): can you please add the authors' names and article titles to the citations of your sources? I have filled in what I can, but not for many of the sources. I have posted a list of sources that need that information at Talk:NCAT Pavement Test Track. If you need help doing that, you can put the information in the list on that page, and I will add that to the article for you.
Another question: did you take the picture that is in the article? It looks very similar to Figure 1 of http://www.webcitation.org/5olvHutth.
Finally, thank you for writing the article. I found it very interesting. PleaseStand (talk) 03:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Brad, I need to see some more edits to the article--esp. of the kind that PleaseStand is talking about, edits that show you understand the basics of encyclopedic writing (tone, referencing, etc.). It would help if you actually fulfilled exercise two (you never added a reference to swimming (sport)). Also, the question about the image--that's fair to ask. Thanks, Dr Aaij (talk) 14:47, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

copyvio?[edit]

Hi Brad,
over at Commons, your image NCAT_Pavement_Test_Track.jpg has been requested for deletion due to suspected copyvio. Please comment over there. --Túrelio (talk) 05:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
