Why I have deleted my autobiography[edit]

Hi. You left me a greeting message when I first joined. I made the mistake of writing my own biography. This was moved by Zoë but still seems to be there. I do not want to be put up for deletion at some time and realise I should not have written the article in the first place as it breaks rules WP:BIO and WP:VAIN. I hope you will apppreciate my embarrassment and excuse my action.

Cheers

GWB deletion[edit]

Thanks for the tip. The whole affair certainly wasn't very kind to my browser, so I'll definitely get in touch with him anything like that happens again. --King of All the Franks 02:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, and I won't protect it any more while this fiasco continues. --King of All the Franks 03:05, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nice sig[edit]

Very cool. :-) android79 19:20, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I will consider this, but since I actively monitor/maintain over 300 articles (and secondarily 900), editing all those Talk pages is a bit daunting. Hal Jespersen 00:44, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great work[edit]

Great work crunching the numbers in the Wikipedia v Britannica table. Raul654 05:47, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note that your Mendeleev, Vesalius, and Woodward numbers are probably wrong, because those Britannica articles are spread over multiple pages, and are actually comparable in size to the WP articles by my count. See also my note in Wikipedia:Village pump (news). —Steven G. Johnson 07:54, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Brian, I had no idea that this would be so hard for you to comprehend. Scroll down in the Woodward article, for example — you'll see that there are links to subsections on his "Education and early career" and his "Synthesis of steroids". As I explained, they break up long bios into multiple sub-pages. (This is not the same thing as their/our having a separate page on, for example steroids. The subpages in these bios are not self-contained, they are part of a single narrative flow and have a single table of contents with "next"/"previous" links connecting them — it's clearly intended to be considered part of one article, and I'm sure that's what Nature would have compared.) —Steven G. Johnson 17:06, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Brian - thanks for watching out for my User page and making a fast reversion after the vandalism. I have to admit, I am not as careful about that as I should be so fast action like yous is welcome. Thanks again. Eddie.willers 15:20, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Brian0918,

As an admin I was wondering if we could get your point of view on a revert war on Baha'i persecution. Thanks -- Jeff3000 02:39, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction[edit]

What the heck are you doing? You locked the introduction page and you arent allowing us to merge the history? Wat are you doing? --Cool CatTalk|@ 01:05, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dammit was trying to fix the stuff server side due to that page, and people kept deleting, undeleting, moving it. — 0918BRIAN • 2005-12-18 01:07
Meh. Too many RC patrolerS? LMAO! :D--Cool CatTalk|@ 01:24, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Keep fannying about with this page, and you're going to cause it's history to be permanently separated. If that happens, we can't do much about it. Rob Church Talk 01:08, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Maintained[edit]

Sorry, I have no suggestions as to how to improve a completely inappropriate template which gives other, less familiar editors, the idea that they have to clear all edits with you before they edit the article. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:39, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, considering that I state the exact opposite of your claims under the template's "Guidelines".

And how many new editors are going to know how to see those Guidelines? User:Zoe|(talk) 23:43, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who wants to know how to use the template will have to go to its talk page,

I'm not talking about people who want to use the template, I'm talking about people who want to edit the article. They go to the Talk page and they see that Template, and they think, "wow, this guy isn't going to let me make the edit I want to make". They would have no way of knowing how to get to your Guidelines, to the template page or to the template talk page. I have reworded my comments, but I will not accept them being removed any more than you accept my removal of the template. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:49, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your changes help, if they stay there, but I don't think the other people who use it will let them stay. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:54, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note that this does not connote any form of article ownership, and you do not need any approval to make changes to the article.

The current version is an improvement, yes, but it is still not good enough. Please address the other issues stated in my comment and in my rebuttal to Cjmarsicano. -- Rmrfstar 02:45, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

G'day, just wondering if you'd like to join WikiProject AFL. There seems to be a lack of awareness that such a project exists due to the previous inactivity on this site. But it's here, and I hope you will join. Cheers, Rogerthat 03:11, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Helping with Find-A-Grave[edit]

I'm really intrigued by the Find-A-Grave project. I've filled in a few articles already, but is there anything more specific that you guys need more users on? --Dantheox 04:50, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Columbia encyclopedia[edit]

Hi, Brian. I think the Columbia encyclopedia topic list you have was ordered to be deleted by Jimbo because he was worried about copyright problems. People have tried to get around it by combining lists from other encyclopedias. The Columbia topics are included in that large list. It makes them harder to use, though. I recompiled the Weisstein articles myself, kept them offline and deleted them after I had done all I could. I used the preview function to find out which ones already had articles so it wouldn't be stored on the site. I removed those topics by hand, but for this bigger list I came up with a way to remove them using Microsoft Word based on color (that list is from multiple sources). Terms with more than one meaning may get lost that way, though. So, I guess you could leave the list as it is, combine it with at least one other list, keep it offline or use the gigantic combined list. -- Kjkolb 06:50, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is there more than one Columbia Encyclopedia list? I think someone just scanned the index, or copied the index if it's available online. Even if it's the first edition from 1936, I think it's still under copyright if they filed a renewal. However, I would think that whoever made the list would use the most recent edition. Maybe someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles knows. I'm going offline right now. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. -- Kjkolb 16:12, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. The list I was referring to is here. Also see here. -- Kjkolb 10:48, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Piezoelectric sensor[edit]

Dear Brian, thanks for looking at the Piezoelectric sensor article. I wrote both articles (Wiki and [1]). What do you suggest? Rewriting one of those or submitting a copyright statement (where?)?

Arrested Development article[edit]

As a whole, its really well done; good job! I hadn't ever considered screen resolution to be a problem, its something I will consider from now on. I'd really suggest adding a large clear picture of Michael early on in the article, as I feel the show revolves around him; and perhaps moving the full cast picture down. Just my two cents. Copy Vio[edit]

Hi I am a little perplexed that an article I wrote has been identified as a copyright violation. As author of the paper concerned I hold the right to post the text (and pictures for that matter) where I please. So lets have it sorted out. Bob

Sorry for this highly unencyclopedic question. But I'm looking for a program that can produce nice diagrams when inputed with statistics. And now I came across the above image made by you. So please could you tell me what software do you used creating that image? Thank you in advance. --212.204.66.66 15:50, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
