Stanford Memorial Church

Hi BrokenSphere, I saw that you added the cleanupgallery tag to this article. The policy you cite doesn't say that galleries are never discouraged; it states that in some cases, they're appropriate. I believe that a gallery is warranted in this case, for this article. Using the policy's wording, here's why:
1. The collection of images in the article's gallery illustrates aspects of the subject that cannot be easily or adequately described by text or individual images, namely, the architectural aspects and stained glass windows of the church. The images do a good job of further illustrating the church's appearance.
2. The images in the gallery collectively has encyclopedic value and adds to the reader's understanding of the subject. I believe that seeing what the church looks like, from several vantage points, has encyclopedic value and adds to the reader's understanding of the church's beautiful architecture.
3. The images are suitably captioned to explain their relevance both to the article subject and to the theme of the gallery. The article goes to great lengths in explaining the uniqueness of the church's appearance, especially the stained glass windows. There was a great deal of care and effort to make the captions as descriptive as possible.
4. The gallery should be appropriately titled (unless the theme of the gallery is clear from the context of the article). I agree that the title was lacking, so I changed it to "Appearance". I'm certain that this change is appropriate.
5. The gallery's images were carefully selected. If they were available, I'd love it if we had more images, of the mosaics, the organs, and more of the past and present staff. The person who donated the images obviously took great care in photographing images that showcase the beauty of the building.
6. There are no similar or repetitive images. The images that depict the architectural aspects are very diverse, and although the images of the windows are similar, they show a good comparison of their artistry.
7. The gallery is well-crafted. For example, the architectural images go from what the church looks like from a distance to the inside of the building, and the windows are placed in chronological order of Christ's life.
