2021 Qualifier

@Lugnuts: I think we can expect to see details of the rescheduled qualifiers for what is now the 2022 T20 World Cup shortly. You have probably seen a handful of announcements from individual associations, such as Fiji saying the EAP qualifier will be Oct/Nov in Japan or Indonesia. With the women's qualifiers next year too (e.g. Brazil and Argentina playing in the America's qualifier for the first time), it could be a very busy year all being well. I hope most if not all of the countries originally scheduled to be involved in 2020 will still be taking part. Ps: Do you have any idea what has happened to the 2019/20 Sri Lanka Premier League Tournament Tier B? Still doesn't appear to have resumed so I am guessing it may have been aborted. Bs1jac (talk) 14:32, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Afternoon! Yes, seen some of the info about the qualifiers as you mention. Great idea to increase the Americas group to four teams, although I don't know what the strength of the Arg/Bra teams are, so it still might be a USA walk-over! Keeping a close eye on all of those and fingers crossed those fixtures do take place. For Tier B, all I could find was a couple of mentions from July saying that no new dates had been announced (Cricinfo, Daily News). I guess it wont resume any time soon. Qatar quadrangular

@Lugnuts: Czarsports came up with this. I dont think this will take place anytime soon. Human (talk) 15:18, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Very optimistic to host a four-team tournament anytime soon! The best we can hope for is a bilateral series of some kind. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:24, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Optimistic. But fingers are crossed as this would be an interesting one. Always good to see teams from different regions play each other. I know that Qatar were talking earlier in the year about a regular arrangement with Uganda. Bs1jac (talk) 15:27, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
It is pending Qatari government approval, so who knows. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:19, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

By the way, isn't it great that the ICC are taking round-up features from Emerging Cricket? Can't question their validity/reliability when the ICC does this. Bs1jac (talk) 19:15, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

I hear that Nepal have said this is unconfirmed, and it seems unlikely. Even Uganda have said similar. Bs1jac (talk) 23:00, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

This is not entirely unlikely. Uganda has started preparing for this one [1]. Its just that Nepal and Malysia are not sure. Might have a bilateral between Qatar and Uganda if the others dont come. Human (talk) 19:31, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Yes all kind of possibilities, but we have heard rumours from sources in Uganda that "their tour is in doubt". Fingers crossed. Bs1jac (talk) 19:44, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Drat! Gone the same way as so many tours. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:37, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Oh wow. They actually had a starting date scheduled. At least its not cancelled. Human (talk) 02:37, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

2021

Hi! Hope all is well with you on the run-up to Christmas. Fingers crossed for some Associate cricket in January, with this women's series being announced. I've also done the work in setting up the pages for the 2022 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier, so hopefully they'll take place too. Take care. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:48, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Cheers, all good thanks (given the mess that we are in right now!). I was going to drop you a note about the expanded women's qualifiers as I know the guys at EC were putting something together... but I saw you had already dealt with that. If these go ahead, along with the men's qualifiers, it will be a great year. I hadn't noticed the bilateral - will see what else is out there and get it started. EDIT: Actually there is nothing from the boards about this yet, only EC's comment... unfortunately they have jumped the gun a couple of times recently (announcing tours that haven't been confirmed by the boards), although I suspect this one will happen COVID-permitting. Bs1jac (talk) 16:20, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
And all the 2022 T20 World Cup regional pathways have been confirmed, which is great news! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:32, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Currently updating the 2020-21 associate season page, then will get the 2021 page set up. Bs1jac (talk) 18:33, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Brilliant - thanks for this. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:34, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Associate international cricket in 2021 and Associate international cricket in 2021–22 done. Bs1jac (talk) 12:34, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: Do you think the two men's global qualifiers should go in the associate seasons or the main international seasons? I know we include qualifiers for the 50-over WC in the main season pages (including the CWCL2 ODIs and the CWCCL List A matches), and we decided to put the T20 regionals into associate pages going forwards; just not sure about the global qualifiers. Likewise the women's qualifier although I don't think dates have been announced for that one anyway. Bs1jac (talk) 12:37, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
I think they should be on the Associate page, with most of the teams being at that level. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:44, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Nice work with the Wolves tour. Incase you didn't see the article, here is the Bangladesh squad. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:43, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

National Cricket Team vs opponents summary

Hi User talk:Bs1jac, Thanks for pointing out that using template in national cricket team page is not standard? Shall I make the changes to other national cricket team (eg: India, Sri Lanka) pages similar to Ireland by removing template and replace with standard format ? -Lesenwriter (talk) 17:07, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi mate. I wouldn't worry about it. Some of the 'bigger' teams do use different templates. Fewer people tend to keep smaller teams up to date so its better to keep the most simple layout. Bs1jac (talk) 17:16, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi ? Can I know the reason behind the deletion of this data and what is the solution to make it right?(Fade258 (talk) 14:02, 30 January 2021 (UTC))

@Fade258: Hi, which page are you referring to? I'll check. Bs1jac (talk) 14:07, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
@Fade258: For Prime Minister One Day Cup, I have restored the team performance section; apologies I didn't mean to include this section within the commented out tags. Ugandan cricket team in Namibia in 2020–21

Hi, I created the article Ugandan cricket team in Namibia in 2020–21 with REDIRECT. But, just now read your comments of holding on this. Hope it doesn't cause a lot of inconvenience.

Thanks, Vikram Maingi (talk) 12:44, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks. Best to leave it as a redirect for now as the fixtures have not been announced. Combined with the fact that there is limited news coverage at the moment there is always the risk that it will me marked for a deletion discussion. Bs1jac (talk) 12:54, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Virat Kohli's cap number

Hi - hope you're still doing well! I know you work a lot on the international cap number lists, so you might be interested in this query. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Cheers. All good here thanks. Looking forward to the Namibia-Uganda series (funny what becomes so exciting when you have been starved of associate cricket for so long). I have commented on the talk page and at WT:CRIC. Bs1jac (talk) 18:33, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I'm looking forward to that series too! Thanks for your help and comments on the cap number. Hats off! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:54, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
@Lugnuts: I see that Cricinfo have put this in the 2021 season rather than 2020/21. Do you think we should move it or stick with our set up? Same would apply to, for example Pakistani cricket team in South Africa in 2020–21. It is early April and I know April/September tends to overlap seasons. Bs1jac (talk) 15:36, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi. Hmmm, interesting. I think it's a case of overlapping months, and historically April has been part of the winter season, so I'd stick with it staying where it is. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:26, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Something to say

Hi. I hope you are doing well. The Namibia-Uganada series will start soon and we are getting back to associate action. I just want to say something regarding something recent. User:Lugnuts had an incident yesterday resulting him going to the ANI. It has something to do his OCD mental condition. You can check out that later. I want to request you to extend a helping hand in updating the main international cricket article if you ever have time. Its not forced and I can understand if you dont have enough time. Judging by Lugnut's recent actions, I'm fearing they wont be back soon, although that might not be the case. And much of the cricket articles will be poorly updated by a certain country's editors or not at all. I hope you understand the situation. Also you may want to request other editors as I dont interact with much people. Its quite sad what happened to one of the most active editor of all time. Thanks Human (talk) 10:52, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

I am sure (I hope) he will be back very soon. I chip in with contributions across the cricket project, and so will be happy to help where I can. I am also sure we will be able to keep things running for a while, even if not quite as quickly! I spend most of my time in WP on associate and women's international series, as well as some domestic events, basically the stuff that isn't worked on by many people (i.e. not so much for men's FM internationals, franchises), but will always update any tournaments that I see have fallen behind when I can. Ps: Really looking forward to the Namibia games. Have always been a fan of theirs (they were always so close to ODI/T20I status, but never quite got it until now), and I quite like Uganda for similar reasons. Bs1jac (talk) 15:51, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
Franchise cricket doesnt need to be worried about. I usually contribute on those articles more as, except for IPL, are neglected. Although the men's international articles get updated, they are not standard enough like how Lugnuts used to do. They usually contain poorly constructed sentences, misinformations and no sources. Human (talk) 17:38, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
Lugnuts is back! All this talking is useless now. Human (talk) 20:57, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Cricinfo

Not a big deal but which one is correct ESPNcricinfo or ESPN Cricinfo? ☎️ Churot DancePop 02:28, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Doesn't really matter, but mostly see ESPN Cricinfo. Bs1jac (talk) 06:27, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Although technically they do label themselves as ESPNcricinfo. Looks awful to me as the common term is simply 'Cricinfo' (with a capital 'C'). Bs1jac (talk) 06:52, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Eligibility of creating a Cricketer's Wiki page

Hi, I wanted to check with you on the eligibility of creating the Web page of a Cricketer? Is it necessary that he/she must have played a First Class match or whether playing List-A makes him/ her eligible. Thanks,Vikram Maingi (talk) 11:04, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

@Vikram maingi: Hi. Thanks for the question. I would advise being very careful when creating player pages in WP. There is a lot of talk going on at the moment about cricket articles and a lot of deletion proposals. Our biggest contributor was threatened with a ban recently for creating too many pages for cricketers, despite all of those pages meeting WP:CRIN criteria. In theory, according to the current cricket criteria, anyone who has played a FC, LA or T20 game in domestic cricket within a Full Member nation can have a page. Associate international players only if they have played a T20I at a world cup qualifier or regional qualifier final stage. However, there are people stating that this is too inclusive and there is talk about only considering FC/LA/T20 appearances in certain countries with good media coverage (such as England, Aus, NZ, India). General WP guidelines at WP:GNG state that at least two independent sources should be included (not including databases such as Cricinfo). Did you have a particular player in mind? Bs1jac (talk) 11:15, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Bs1jac:, thanks for the detailed response. I was thinking of Namibian cricketers who played List-A matches against Uganda. But, now it seems that I should not create their pages now. Thanks again,Vikram Maingi (talk) 11:04, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Vikram maingi: Those players will probably be eligible in future (if they play in the T20 World Cup or an ODI for example). I feel any List A game should be enough, but sadly not. They might already be ok if there are a few decent sources talking specifically about the players, but probably best to leave them for now. Bs1jac (talk) 11:48, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Ibou Touray stats

Please note that Soccerway (for some reason) lumps in play-off games with the regular season games, whereas we (and Soccerbase et al) do not. I have amended the stats table. Please feel free to correct any errors in my maths... GiantSnowman 20:33, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: Thanks. Yep aware of that, forgot to check for play-offs. I had to use Soccerway for this one as Soccerbase tends to have very limited stats for non-league football (at least in this case). Bs1jac (talk) 21:02, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I only use SB for Football League seasons. GiantSnowman 17:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Nam-SA emerging

Hi. A series has been announced between Namibia and South Africa Emerging team [2]. They would most likely have List A status. Also I havent heard anything about Belgium's home series against Malta and Romania. There are no recent news and an anonymous IP included that they are postponed without any sources. Thanks. Human (talk) 12:02, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

@A Simple Human: Yep almost certainly List A and probably T20 status too, and there will probably be some news coverage in The Namibian eventually. I'm not sure on notability though as it's an associate against an 'A' team. I'd like to include it, but will leave it for now unless someone else starts it. I was told by the guy at Czar Sports (who has spoken to someone linked with Cricket Belgium) that the first two Belgium series are off due to covid restrictions in that part of Europe, but hopefully to be rearranged for May/June so I suggest keeping the pages for now, and moving them to the 2021 season if they do get rearranged (or redirecting to the season summary if they don't happen in 2021). I wish the boards would actually announce this! Their series with Austria in May is still on at the moment. Bs1jac (talk) 12:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Also according to Czar Sports, Nepal will likely be playing some ODIs (and maybe T20Is) against Namibia in May... When Namibia teased a new series on their socials yesterday I assumed they were talking about this! Bs1jac (talk) 12:58, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
About notability, you did create Ireland Wolves cricket team against Namibia in South Africa in 2019–20. Since this is South Africa's A team, it does have more notability. Human (talk) 13:02, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
That's true (I believe I was asked to do that one too). Let's wait for some coverage though. Bs1jac (talk) 13:03, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Cricket South Africa has also named the squad [3]. Human (talk) 18:00, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

You probably noticed that these games are being recorded as SA emerging vs Nambia Eagles, and so are not notable enough. The Namibian side is basically full strength but the games ado not appear to have t20 or List A status. Bs1jac (talk) 09:00, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Kwibuka!

@Lugnuts: Yay, the Kwibuka is back! Seems they have invited pretty much every active women's team in Africa this time instead of the usual four or five, but sadly no mention of Mali at the moment. Bs1jac (talk) 15:35, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Great news - I wonder how many new world records will be set! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:08, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Morning! Hope you are well. Shame all the men's Euro qualifiers were scrapped. Don't know why they couldn't have all been moved to Spain along with the final. Anyway, good news for the women's cricket with this and this. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:00, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Awesome. I will make a start on the Kwibuka after work if no-one else has already done it by then. Shame no Tanzania or Kenya. Bs1jac (talk) 11:10, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem - I'll leave it in your capable hands. Give me a ping if you need anything. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:46, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Just knocked this up too. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:59, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Brilliant. I was thinking that would be a good idea. I created pages for all previous editions, given that it is an annual event, going back just a few years, but this allows better linking. Will see if I can add to it at all. Might be worth mentioning the new 4-year thing is for the women's event, so it no longer alternates men-women. Bs1jac (talk) 20:01, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Women's cricket tours in International cricket calendars

@Bs1jac: I was noticing that the International calendars (e.g.[International_cricket_in_2017]) does not have the women's internation tours and I am planning to iclude those slowly. But for that I need to know if there are any individual pages created for those series. Is there any way where I can find what are the series for which pages have been created? mitratanmoy 16:19, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

@Mitratanmoy: Hi there. International cricket in 2017 (for example) does already include women's tours. Bs1jac (talk) 20:24, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Continental Cup / other Summer 2021 cricket

@Lugnuts: The Central Europe Cup was fun. Three evenly matched teams made for an interesting event. Next up is the Continental Cup (Romania) from 3–6 June according to commentary from the CEC (the dates are also on the Czech Cricket page. They didn't seem to know who else is taking part though. I imagine it was moved forward to June as preparation for the qualifiers (which now aren't happening). Bs1jac (talk) 08:12, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Morning! Yes, I kept a brief eye on it - looked like it could have gone down to NRR with the possibility of all teams finishing level on points! Good to see a competitive tournament, rather than one or two teams against some very mis-matched sides. Just being reading the 2021 Kwibuka tournament article. I like the bit about the possible expansion to include teams outside of Africa, such as Germany and Brazil. Great news if that happens. Speaking of which, is there a master summary article for that tournament, like the Central Europe Cup? Is there any coverage before the 2019 edition? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:17, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
It would be great if they could genuinely make the Kwibuka into a tournament containing a mix of local sides (e.g. Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe) plus a couple of invitees from elsewhere... would be good to see more inter-continent match-ups. I did look around for previous Kwibuka tournaments to see if we could do similar to the CEC and your East Asia Cup master article, but coverage is very patchy and the early events were just Rwanda and Uganda age-group sides. I found these: 2018 (Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda U19), 2017 (Rwa, Ken, Uganda U19, Uganda U23), 2016 (just Rwanda and Uganda, plus a separate 40 over game), 2015 (Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya). Couldn't find anything for 2014, although I know Uganda won it as reported by Emerging Cricket's East Africa expert. Bs1jac (talk) 08:27, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah here for 2014. Bilateral between Uganda and Rwanda. Bs1jac (talk) 08:29, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for finding the extra info. Will take a look at making the master page at some point! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:38, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Lugnuts: Actually according to the Bulgarian captain, Continental Cup will be in September so sounds like the Czech comms are using old info. However, there will be tournament in Bulgaria 24-27 June featuring Greece, Serbia and Romania marking 20 years of the BCF. Bs1jac (talk) 10:14, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Morning! Just about to give you the heads-up on the Inter-insular match, as Mr Nixon makes reference to it happening, and see you're (as ever) already on to it. Nice work. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:11, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Cheers. Figured the women's series deserved its own page this time, after tacking the single WT20I in with the men's series and traditional 50-over game in 2019. If they later announce a men's series (i.e. if the Challenge League gets postponed due to quarantine restrictions), we can make a page for that plus the 50-over game in August. Bs1jac (talk) 09:58, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
And again great work with the Kwibuka tournament. Cricinfo now has the match scorecard, etc. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:08, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
