Historians of mountaineering[edit]

Hi Byrdbite, I wonder whether your new category Chronicler of mountaineering should be moved to the category Historians of mountaineering. Not only are all such profession cats invariably plural (so if it remains as it is it should be moved to the category Chroniclers of mountaineering), but there are no other categories that list "chroniclers". I do appreciate that someone like Elizabeth Hawley is more strictly a chronicler than a historian but I feel that this perhaps subtle distinction might be waived for simplicity and she should be placed simply under the category Historians of mountaineering, a subcat of both Category:Mountaineering and Category:Historians. Of course, the category will then need to be populated with the likes of Noyce, Irving et al. I do also appreciate that many mountaineering writers are in a sense mountaineering historians as well, as expedition accounts are often/invariably accompanied by details of previous expeditions (per Bonington, Scott, etc, etc), so the category will be quite full if a strict definition of historian is not made (perhaps exclude writers where the history is obviously tangential, where a "history" as such is not being written. Another solution would be to have the category Chroniclers of mountaineering as a subset of the category Historians of mountaineering..., but it might simply be populated by Hawley (and perhaps one or two others), so might be pointless. What do you think? Regards, Ericoides (talk) 06:42, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Desnivel cover 322 2013.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Desnivel cover 322 2013.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:36, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
