Removing needs-infobox[edit]

Hello, it's good to see someone adding infoboxes to articles. Feel free to remove the parameter itself ("needs-infobox=") when marking articles as having infoboxes. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 08:49, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @DanielPenfield:. I normally remove the "YES" behind the parameter but I will start removing the parameter wording altogether. Thanks again. --CNMall41 (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bank of Central and South America[edit]

Sure, let's go ahead and delete an article. I mean, of course let's remove any article that doesn't interest you. Even if an article has a reference (scroll to the bottom and you will see the source), if YOU don't think it is notable then clearly it is not notable. I am sure that every article we remove from Wikipedia will help the goal of making it a repository of the world's knowledge. Any article about a bank that was created and acquired before the Web was even created can't be worthwhile keeping. We need to save server space for articles on current TV shows. Yes I am angry at this vandalism you are proposing.Acad Ronin (talk) 21:31, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So I must have moved your cheese. After looking at the prod, it was a mistake and never should have been placed. Had you been civil, I would have apologized but we are a little beyond that point with your WP:PA. Don't post here again unless you plan on being civil. If you feel a mistake is vandalism, take it to the proper noticeboard. --CNMall41 (talk) 01:04, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What you're reading there is frustration that you prodded an article without fully reading and understanding the piece (for example: a website for a bank that was purchased in 1925?). :-) Actions like that can very easily drive off well-meaning new editors, although that generally applies more to overly hasty speedy deletion tags; thankfully here Acad Ronin is an experienced editor and is not likely to leave. Would you be able to be a little more careful in the future? Thank you very much. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 20:57, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The ed17. I know it is frustration but it is inexcusable in my opinion. As stated above, it was a mistake. I am very careful but again, mistakes can happen. That aside, I am wondering how "frustration" is any reason to be uncivil or making accusations of vandalism which were not vandalism. In fact, I am "frustrated" that you would come here and talk about the edit yet leave nothing on the talk page of Acad Ronin, an "experienced editor" who should be well aware of WP:CIVIL and WP:PA, discussing their actions in response to the mistake. However, I am not going to be uncivil with you for it as there is never a time on Wikipedia when it is appropriate to do so. It would have been easier for them to remove the prod and leave a notice on my talk page saying to check the page again, but that's not what happened did it? And by the way, there are more things that can chase off well-meaning editors (I am also one of those "well-meaning" editors you describe in your previous comment), such as messages like the one left by Acad Ronin. --CNMall41 (talk) 22:19, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jeremy Harding has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP arguably failing WP:GNG without two indi 2ndary sources enough to write BLP

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Widefox; talk 13:52, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As stated on the talk page of the article a moment ago, I created this 3 years ago believing it met WP:NMUSIC but looking closer now I don't believe that's the case. No objection to the prod. --CNMall41 (talk) 19:19, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editing tip for formatting references.[edit]

Re/Fill is a great tool for properly formatting citations on pages that have lots of bare URLs in the references. It automatically puts the URLs in the cite-web template, and grabs titles, dates, and other information if the source article has these properly formatted. Cheers! bd2412 T 02:35, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Just Wow! Used it to do List of rum producers and it worked great. I think this is going to come in handy. Thanks again for the tip!! --CNMall41 (talk) 23:13, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. Note that it defaults to adding pages to your watchlist, so be aware of that. Otherwise, enjoy! bd2412 T 23:46, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invite[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH?Q_DL=2oczE7SODTUnF5j_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH_MLRP_9QWM3mmm48ecuj3&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 18:30, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Zacapa Rum Wikipedia Page[edit]

Hi,

I am counsel for the joint venture that owns Zacapa rum. I note that the Zacapa Wikipedia page was recently edited to include the following statement, namely: “Zacapa is widely believed to add sugar and other flavoring extracts to its finished rums.[6] “ However, this statement is not true, as I can confirm that no sugar or flavouring extracts are added to Zacapa rum. It is possible that some sugars may be imparted, during the aging process, from the wood of the different wine and cognac barrels in which the liquid is aged, but no sugars or flavors are affirmatively added. Accordingly, we respectfully request that you revise the current page to correct this misstatement.

This was not a "recent" change. This was actually in the article and I simply changed the formatting. As far as you being able to confirm the addition of sugar, it doesn't matter what the company says. What matters is what can be verified in reliable sources. The source being used was from a forum which is not considered reliable so I simply removed the entire section. Please note that if you request changes to the page, you need to use the talk page. This will facilitate other editors reviewing any requests you have. Leaving a note on my talk page will only be seen by me and I am not always readily available. --CNMall41 (talk) 04:34, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
