January 2020[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. A page you recently created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it will be removed shortly (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests, and consider using the Article Wizard. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Your first article. You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. Praxidicae (talk) 17:55, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Linking[edit]

Please don't link common occupations or people's nationalities within articles. See WP:Manual of Style/Linking#What generally should not be linked for more. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 23:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SNUGGUMS asked you a few days ago to stop linking common things--please let that include the words you linked in this edit--where, by the way, you linked "U.S." needlessly. Drmies (talk) 22:22, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • And Vistadan just reverted one of your edits for the same reason. Sorry, but I see problems: overlinking, including unverified and trivial information, namedropping... Please pay attention to our guidelines, and to the comments of fellow editors. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 22:24, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

January 2020[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. If you need guidance on how to create appropriate pages, try using the Article Wizard. I’m just noting that the overlinking of very common words and major geographic features is still a problem. Larry Hockett (Talk) 22:38, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Drake (musician). Larry Hockett (Talk) 10:59, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Martin Garrix.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Martin Garrix.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 12:01, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Joel Corry.jpg[edit]

Diannaa, you know a thing or two about copyright--will you please look at this and other contributions, which the user just seems to have downloaded from somewhere and then claimed as their own? And maybe you want to decide on what to do with this user--I'm this close to blocking them because they only cause more work for other editors--like Praxidicae, Snuggums, Vistadan, and Larry Hockett. Thanks... Drmies (talk) 15:51, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Drmies the file you linked is a copyvio as per the copyright notice on the page. Praxidicae (talk) 16:27, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • all of them are copyvios and I see no reason why they should be uploaded in the first place. They should all be nuked. Praxidicae (talk) 16:29, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Somebody has just deleted them all, beating me by mere minutes— Diannaa (talk) 17:54, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Singer Raye.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on File:LunchMoney Lewis.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.

The page File:English musician Tyler James.jpg has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appeared to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been deleted.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion ReviewC.Fred (talk) 17:45, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cheat Codes (DJs), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matthew Russell (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

You have already been sanctioned by staff. Do not make edits like you did at Kendrick Lamar's wiki page. TheEpicGhosty (talk) 19:28, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

On a related note, could you please familiarize yourself with the documentation at Template:Infobox musical artist? My prior edits were disruptive when:

  • Adding or removing blank page content or templates
  • Adding associated acts who collaborated with an artist on a song that features the act, or if they co-produced songs for them
  • Adding associated acts who collaborated on their single "Close"

I will:

When I edit Stormzy, I will add Ed Sheeran to associated acts.

Why? Based on what reliable sources? And how does Sheeran meet the associated acts criteria?
Given that part of the reason you were blocked was adding inappropriate associated acts to articles, this request really makes me question whether you should be unblocked. —C.Fred (talk) 21:10, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sheeran released "Take Me Back to London" featuring Stormzy and Sheeran featured on Stormzy's song "Own It" alongside Burna Boy. That's how he met the associated acts criteria.

I need the next administrator (who visits this page) to unblock me. I will never make disruptive edits again. I need to be unblocked by an administrator because I do not think that is needed anymore.

And you need to do it in a way that makes it clear that you understand the relevant Wikipedia policies. Don't just *say* you understand, *show* you understand. • Adding a birth date without adding a reference
  • Adding unsourced occupations

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/CPHL, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
