Speedy deletion of Weyl-Wigner Transform[edit]

A tag has been placed on Weyl-Wigner Transform requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Yavoh 20:56, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lambada[edit]

Thank you fdor your contribution to the Lambada article. Please add references that confirm your additions. Please keep in mind that by wikipedia policies summarized in wikipedia:Attribution an unreferenced text may be deleted soon. `'Míkka>t 04:08, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I also quickly looked into your addition into [Palladium Ballroom]]. It also lacks references. Please add. In addition please keep in mind that wikipedia maintains emotionally and stylistically neutral tone and phrases such as "grew tremendously" or "taking everyone by storm" are inadmissible, and someone will delete them sooner or later. Please rewrite them so that nobody else will screw them up.`'Míkka>t 04:14, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know. The text is not my work. I just sorted the topics out, like I do with many articles. I hope that the text will evolve into a good and referenced article. At least people now know where to look for. ' -Caco
    • You wrote "the text is not my work". Please provide references to this work. `'Míkka>t 20:53, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • I expect that there is not a guide or reference on Lambada. The knowledge is with the dancers and the teachers, and they publish some of it on their websites.
        • You have to give references to these websites. Wikipedia:Attribution is the basic rule of wikipedia. Sivce anyone can edit wikipedia, proper reverence is the only way to ensure that the information is correct and not corrupted with by some joker. Please believe, there are many vandals playing with wikipedia. Some of them are just bored teenagers who insert obscenities in text. But there are quite a few villains who deliberately insert false information which looks very correct at the first glance. `'Míkka>t 21:49, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
          • Another way of verifying that facts are true is, that they are (self)consistent, plausable and stand the test of review. :-).
          • What should be the reference link density? There are only a few sources though. -Caco
            • There is no general rule. For a long text from a single source you may place the footnote at the end of each paragraph. You can easily make many footnotes to the same reference. Below I will show you the example of syntax.

Please don't add references to youtube. This is not valid source for wikipedia. `'Míkka>t 20:53, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think youtube is a valid source for wikipedia, just like links from wikipedia to any other site. Wikipedia does not provide this kind of media. For dancing styles it is almost impossible to explain what it looks like without seeing it. -Caco
Please believe me, youtube is not an admissible source for wikipedia, for a number of serious reasons. Please see wikipedia:Reliable sources for general rules. I understand very well that it is very different to explain dance and music without seeing and hearing. However please keep in mind that wikipedia is encyclopedia, not an instruction manual to go into intricate detail. Encyclopedia gives general description, history, etc. For instruction manuals there is a sister proejct called wikibooks. and there is wikibooks:Dance section in it. `'Míkka>t 21:49, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree. Wikipedia is not a real encyclopedia. I think, it's concept surpasses it. I believe that wikipedia can and does go into intricate detail and gives general descriptions at the same time. See for example the articles on mathematics and physics. "Uninteresting" details can always be passed to a separate article. I never delete stuff, that looks likes it could be relevant to people. -Caco
Wikipedia is real encyclopedia. While articles are written by anybody, the rule is that the information must come from a respectable source. In your case, if the video comes from a well-known teacher, it may be admissible. On youtube anyone may upload anything and if it is a random guy dancing lambada in the street, I have no reason to believe that he dances it correctly. If the video come from a teacher, it must come from the website of this teacher, then it may be considered a reliable source. `'Míkka>t 22:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your point. But this is not the way youtube works. Youtube hosts movies for people, because the load is too heavy for their own websites. Most of the time the movies are self evident, i.e. you can see who is in the video. The fact that the video's are there and get a lot of viewers, often means that the (possibly well known) people in the video agree with its publication.
I see it this way. If you know how lambada is danced, just go into discussion with me why that video is not lambada - original style. Anyway... I don't care about those links. But the links I put on the Zouk article are very usefull to people. Wouldn't want people to delete them :-) --Caco

January 2008[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. While your edits are welcome and appreciated, we don't need a separate subsection for every paragraph. Replacing prose with lists is also frowned upon. Please see our Manual of Style for more information. Thank you. - (), 19:00, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I will read that text about style later. I agree with your statement in case of a text which reaches its end stadium. But as long as it is in high development it needs to be penetrable. This is why the topics are needed. This way it becomes accessible more quickly. Maybe wikipedia needs to be "changed" to allow for topics which are visible only on request.

Standard Model rewrite[edit]

User:TriTertButoxy did a major rewrite that makes our differences moot. I think that the SM article is now much worse.--Truthnlove (talk) 13:23, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What I saw of... (but I don't know the details of the previous article) is that the new text is quite clear. If stuff is missing now, I suggest you merge this stuff with the new article ;-)

QM/QFT[edit]

I have created Template:Quantum field theory to emphasize the distinction between QM and QFT. I think it helps to sort these things out.--Truthnlove (talk) 22:53, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know the difference between QFT and QM. QFT is the the application of QM principles to fields. So QFT is a subfield of QM. But I support your use of the QFT template... An interesting question now, is whether QG is QFT or something else? Is string theory QFT? String theory is QM for sure.

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Morbidthoughts (talk) 17:45, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

September 2008[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Mapper Lithography. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Morbidthoughts (talk) 17:56, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
