Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)[edit]

I think that we should include something about recent changes, but your facts were not correct. The 2008 GA was in San Jose. They send down an amendment to change the ordination standards, but it was not ratified by the presbyteries, so it died. The 2010 GA in Minneapolis has sent down another amendment that would do approximately what you say, but it needs to be ratified by the presbyteries, and probably will not be. They have until next July to do so. On same-sex marriage, they recieved a paper on the subject, commending it for study by the presbyteries. But then they answered all the other proposals on the subject with the action of recieving the paper. Some of the proposals sought to strengthen the one man one woman language, and some of them sought to change it to two persons, but in the end there was no change to either the constitution or any authoritative interpretation.
