Hi Cannolis, regarding the removal of my external link on the Pleasantville movie page. The link I do think is appropriate as the page in question contained an encyclopedic breakdown of key movie scenes and analyzes the philosophy of each scene from a religious worldview. I hope you will reconsider the value of this information to making the Wiki pages more comprehensive in their coverage. Thanks 99.44.36.186 (talk) 02:52, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's not that the external link was appropriate in content, but its addition to multiple articles seemed to be WP:LINKSPAM. Admittedly, I only gave the linked site a cursory inspection, but it appears to be some sort of personal blog, and as per WP:LINKSTOAVOID #12, would not be eligible for inclusion. If you believe the author of the page is indeed a recognized authority on religious critiques of films or versions of the Bible, please feel free to find WP:RELIABLESOURCES to back that up. Thanks. Violating NPOV and vandalism re Miss Ethiopia[edit]

Can you please take a look at the Miss Ethiopia entry? the editor Habeshakonjo is obviously deliberately violating NPOV he has re written the entire article from scratch deleting original sourced and verifiable information, and cites no sources for his new version and claims in his new entry and it replaced it so it reads like an advert for his company, he is directly related to EAVPG he keeps reverting the wiki entry to suit his self promoting version, can the page be 3O'd sorted out and locked? there are multiple national pageant organisers and various franchise holders in Ethiopia who each do their own pageant, but he deletes all references to them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.28.33.235 (talk) 02:50, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your rollback request[edit]

Hi Cannolis, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, use a manual edit summary instead of using the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 18:12, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute resolution volunteer survey[edit]

Dispute Resolution – Volunteer Survey Invite

Hello Cannolis. To follow up on the first survey in April, I am conducting a second survey to learn more about dispute resolution volunteers - their motivations for resolving disputes, the experiences they've had, and their ideas for the future. I would appreciate your thoughts. I hope that with the results of this survey, we will learn how to increase the amount of active, engaged volunteers, and further improve dispute resolution processes. The survey takes around five to ten minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released.

Please click HERE to participate.
Many thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts.

You are receiving this invitation because you have either listed yourself as a volunteer at a dispute resolution forum, or are a member of a dispute resolution committee. On the above article, you blanked the page. I'm 99.9% certain that this was unintentional, as you *really* do not look like a vandalism account. :) Anyway, from your edit comment you appear to have been trying to revert the edit previous to yours. In undoing your (unintentional) blanking, the page is now back to the state from before your "revert". Looking at that previous edit, it's not obvious vandalism. Since it's on a page that I do not normally edit, and that I do not have any real knowledge of, I do not feel comfortable reverting that edit myself. But if you still feel that it's "unconstructive", as you called it, then you likely will want to revert it yourself again. You please check this time to make sure that the page is not blanked. :) - TexasAndroid (talk) 14:24, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh thanks for catching that, looks like I screwed up. I think I was looking through an IPs edit history on huggle and saw this, and hit revert without seeing how long ago it was. My mistake, I use a program to quickly scroll through recent edits. Lots of vandals tend to add text somewhat similar to your edit on articles about living people, and given the similar lack of edit summary, I incorrectly thought yours was vandalism. I've looked at one of the sources already provided on the page, and it also says Claux illustrated the book, so I've repositioned the source to show that your edit is sourced. My apologies. qnet company[edit]

Hello,

Few points are not true about QNET in the review: 1- please find the link to the compensation plan which clearly shows that the IR purchases a product, hence he can never lose money by startimg up with qnet, hence the company will never accept money unless it is a registration fee after accepting all the terms and conditions and then the exact amount for a purchase of a product. It is the customer /IR decision to purchase or not. http://www.qnet.ae/en/opportunity/compensation_plan/

2- the company does not have a pyramid scheme compensation plan. According to my understanding, a pyramid scheme is illegal and there's no way where someone who starts working on the opportunity today earn more than someone who has started the business 10 years ago. In qnet, it is possible. It is an exchange of money for one of the company's products or services mentioned in the link below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1mtdoNsOTo

with passion, dream and dedication, any person can do the business when supported by the global support qnet is providing.

3- about shutting down the company offices in India and Indonesia . please have a look at the following links where events were done in the same countries with thousands of people attending after the issue of the office got resolved and clearing that it is not a pyramid scheme.

India https://www.facebook.com/QNETIndiaOfficial Indonesia celebrating qnet anniversary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azhs1eIg5q8

I corrected date of birth[edit]

see this revision this edit someone changed date of birth on 25th december 2012 from Nawaz Sharif page

Hi Cannolis. That is twice now you have reverted one of my changes with no explanation. I provided an explantion as to why I made the change, both times I did this. The change was nevertheless reverted with no explanation as to why. You asked me to "next time" fill out the "reason for edit" field.. I did this both times, you know this and you're ignoring it. Please explain why you reverted my change (the deletion of a sentence with no evidence to back it up except for 2x links to websites with a similar lack of evidence) or I will assume the obvious reason and know that this website is just as crooked as the rest. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.211.60.142 (talk) 08:18, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you are bringing up the Sharif diff, changing someone's birthday to April 1st when the source listed says otherwise seems like blatant vandalism.
- This is because I didn't know how to add a section to your page so I had to use an existing section. I apologise for the confusion.
I apologize for instructing you to fill out the edit summary, I use an outside browser Wikipedia:Huggle to scroll through edits, and I think it may be a little buggy as it did not load an edit summary for the edit. The other 3 times your edits were reverted were not by me.
- Thank you for the clarification. I provided an edit summary every time I made the edit.
I removed your edit as all it did was remove a counter-argument and a source from a segment, while leaving an conspiracy claim unsourced and unanswered. This appeared to be POV pushing, especially when I did not see the edit summary, and so I removed it. The best place to have this issue resolved is to go to the article's talk page and discuss the problems you find there. Cannolis (talk) 17:06, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The sentence which was left was not a claim at all, it was a statement that many believe the claim to be true. I'm not certain what source could be used for such a statement? The sentence I kept removing, and which beguilingly remains intact, was sourced, yes. The source was not sourced. The sentence is possibly true, possibly untrue. It is presented as fact and should not be.
While the Radford source may not be the best source, I think the one from the Calgary Herald should suffice. Wikipedia generally accepts news articles from well-established outlets to be reliable, and assumes that the reporter has done their work properly. Again, if you have questions regarding the reliability of such a source, the article's talk page would be a good outlet to discuss them and receive more feedback than just mine. Alternatively, you can post your questions on the WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and receive feedback there.Cannolis (talk) 18:59, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha. Fotos Politis by user Johnbastias[edit]

Dear Cannolis, I noticed that you deleted a large part of my entry on "Fotos Politis", but then placed it back where it was. I suppose your first reaction was that it was unnecessary or irrelevant. What I am trying to do is not to translate the relevant Greek entry, also authored by me, on a subject and a person quite well known in Greece, but to introduce to your American public a name they will seldom come across. It is an important name in the development of the Greek theater, but there are many things that have to be explained since they are not very well handled in the en.Wikipedia. Look for example at the first entry for F. Politis of less than one page by someone, whose English was less than elementary, and whose knowledge of the subject non existent. Of course, he was blocked two years ago, but his entree was still there for all to see and be misinformed. Consequently, I have added material like "The naming of the National Theater" or the contribution of the poet Ioannis Gryparis, that are usually avoided because most people don't bother to go to the published sources of the time or academic sources and depend on whatever is most convenient. I don't want to take up too much of your time but for both the information is misleading and should be put right. When I finish the entry and complete the Bibliography and the References, you can see the result and I would be happy to see your comments. Sorry, I don't write too rapidly, because I don't have much time, but I try to write a bit every day. Take care Cannolis.--Johnbastias (talk) 10:59, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I use a browser to scroll through recent edits very quickly to revert vandalizing edits, and I saw a single edit that added "tr. by Johnbastias". At first, I thought it was someone just tagging a page with their name as the browser highlights only the addition in the most recent edit and not all the previous edits. But I looked back and saw you had added substantial amounts of content with numerous sources, and was clearly not vandalizing, so I undid my edit. Cannolis (talk) 20:02, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the trouble caused by my student, most don't have such problems. Can you explain to him in detail what he did wrong? I did so already, but it will be helpful if you tell him why his edits are near-vandalisms, as a very green newbie he may not understand. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:34, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. I told him to focus on translating content, which may help ensuring the new content is encyclopedic, and to double check the entries with an English tutor. The students should have a sufficient grasp of English for the course, and most do (no other student got a warning :>). But, there is always a variance. If he doesn't improve, I may have to ask him to contribute to Korean Wikipedia indeed, the problem is I don't read Korean. Sigh. I thought all the students with poor English dropped the course after the first week, but... Thanks for stopping by and offering advice, I hope we can work this out. His most recent edits are more promising ([1]). Here's hoping they will be dominant in the future. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:48, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar[edit]

Hey there. Nothing major, but a note about your recent edit at North Korea: "North Korea, along with Cuba, are the only two states with an almost entirely government-planned, state-owned economy." First, the comma you inserted isn't an Oxford comma. The Oxford comma is the comma before the 'and' in a list, for example after B in a list A, B, and C.

Secondly, your edit made the sentence grammatically incorrect. In a sentence formatted that way, the verb after the part between the commas (I have a feeling I'm forgetting some grammar terminology) has to work even if the part in the commas was removed. In this case, it didn't - "North Korea are the only two states" isn't grammatically valid. The sentence could have read "North Korea, along with Cuba, is one of only two states" or (as another editor already changed it to) "North Korea and Cuba are the only two states".

Sorry for being nitpicky, but I hope it helps in the future. Happy editing! Some guy (talk) 18:49, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my comma was put "The Central Planning Committee prepares, supervises and implements economic plans, while a General Bureau of Provincial Industry in each region is responsible for the management of local manufacturing facilities, production, resource allocation>>>,<<< and sales" here. But otherwise, thanks for the grammar tip, I literally know zero grammar rules and pretty much did the simplest thing to get rid of the parenthesis. Cannolis (talk) 20:16, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Despite what you think about the edit, it was constructive. I know the guy is very controversial due to the hijinks he gets up to but he's very notable and has appeared on MTV among other notable media. You don't seem to want Wikipedia to have any mention of Christian Weston Chandler and I'd like to know why. Sorry for any trouble I might have caused, I didn't mean to. 109.76.119.171 (talk) 17:37, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your source, know your meme, is not sufficiently reliable for BLP issues. Cannolis (talk) 17:41, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I'll get a better source if possible. If I do, I will add the information back into the page. 109.76.119.171 (talk) 19:50, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Would a YouTube video made by the person himself stating the fact be considered a good source? 109.76.119.171 (talk) 20:03, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No. See WP:N and WP:RS Cannolis (talk) 20:15, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it seems that I will not be able to mention him at all in the wiki. What ever happened to WP:IAR? 109.76.119.171 (talk) 20:40, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

that is meant for when consensus is against a established rule. Cannolis (talk) 21:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry, I would like to add an netural mention of Christian Weston Chandler into Wikipedia someday. 109.76.119.171 (talk) 23:50, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Epistaris[edit]

It's most likely a typo then, because it appeared here and here after a brief Google search. Should it be created as a redirect? TeleComNasSprVen (talkcontribs) 01:21, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. The two you have are pretty clear but with this and this, it's been digitized as epistaris but if you zoom in real close it looks more like an x than a r. I suppose a redirect is fine. With looking for those books I've seen a couple posts on like discussion boards and the like with the same mispelling Cannolis (talk) 02:07, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Crocodile[edit]

Thank you for responding to my edit request - it looks like someone has removed the phrase. For the record, while it was still visible it could be seen immediately as it was in the section just to the right at the top of the page. I don't really know my way around Wikipedia editing - I just made an account to try and remove the words myself and then to submit that request - so I apologize if this is not the proper way to respond to you, but I wasn't sure how else to do so. Although the issue has been resolved, it appears that the phrase was added in by this IP address. I don't know if there's anything you can do with that information, but I thought I'd mention it considering that this user has vandalized two pages and left erroneous information on another just in the past month or so. Thanks again for addressing the matter promptly! Nujv (talk) 04:14, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If they continue making vandalizing edits you can report them to WP:AIV, but yeah, thanks for the eye Cannolis (talk) 05:44, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Atatürk[edit]

Revolutionary means DEVRİMCİ in Turkish, we say İNKILÂP for REFORM, and İNKILÂPÇI for REFORMIST

  • For Atatürk, the term which is always being used is İNKILÂPÇI..Atatürk İnkılâpları is the name of his reforms, check with dictionary if you have one..68.100.172.139 (talk) 04:42, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

SEE tr:Atatürk İnkılâpları

Fidel Castro[edit]

is an example for Revolutionary i.e. DEVRİMCİ in Turkish.

  • Absolutely, they are NOT identical!!

68.100.172.139 (talk) 04:46, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

CORRECTION to the article should include a statement like:[edit]

.....army officer in the Ottoman military, reformist statesman Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (pronounced [musˈtäfä ceˈmäl ätäˈtyɾc]; 19 May 1881 (conventional) – 10 November 1938) was a Turkish army officer in the Ottoman military, reformist statesman, and the first President of Turkey.

68.100.172.139 (talk) 04:51, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounciation[edit]

The correct Pronounciation should be Mūsˈtāphā Kaˈmāl ātāˈtyɾc

68.100.172.139 (talk) 05:07, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1. Just because he is referred to as İNKILÂPÇI in Turkey does not mean the term "reformist" should be used in English. Reformist means something quite particular. The way the term "revolutionary" in the article is being used is not as a title as you seem to be using İNKILÂPÇI, it is a description. Reading the definition of 'revolutionary' in English may be helpful to your understanding.
2. I am no expert on pronunciations but the pronunciation you advocated in your original edit request is the exact same as that in the article. If the pronunciation you are claiming is correct here is different when you format it properly, I would be more than happy to find someone and figure out if it is correct Cannolis (talk) 12:49, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

68.100.172.139 (talk) 15:57, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Try to disregard what revolutionary means in Turkish. In English, it does not necessarily refer to bringing about a revolution. See dictionary definition. There are multiple definitions. Cannolis (talk) 23:32, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are they the same in their acheivements? Revolutionist- Fidel Castro ----O.K. Revolutionist- Atatürk ---- is NOT O.K. You have to find another WORD!! 68.100.172.139 (talk) 01:58, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Revolution[edit]

is a consequence of Revolt, Rebellion, Insurrection, Uprising.

These terms are NOT identical to Turkish War of Independence which is NEITHER a Revolution NOR anyone of Revolt, Rebellion, Insurrection, Uprising.[edit]

68.100.172.139 (talk) 04:39, 5 May 2014 (UTC) Therefore you should make the corrections, i.e., Atatürk was NOT a revolutionist as Castro was. 68.100.172.139 (talk) 04:42, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

disagree per above. for the last time, read the definition of revolutionary which I have already linked to you. maybe look through the list of revolutionaries, some are similar to Castro, however the list also includes Gandhi, Desmond Tutu, Frantz Fanon, etc.
perhaps more importantly, the Turkish War of Independence is indeed a revolution, e.g. "a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place in a relatively short period of time." see Turkish Revolution. Try reading Revolution as well. If you still believe that your edit should be made I cannot help you, because you are wrong. Cannolis (talk) 12:05, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cannolis, I see you deleted the edited version to my page Ravin Caldwell. The source is myself. Your information is totally incorrect. I do not live in Los Angeles and never have! In fact, I live in Norway, which is a small city in Sweden! I do not live on the Moon! Nor have I been married to Teal Marchande. Additionally, I do not have a middle name so I don't know where the V. came from. This information that you are displaying is fraudulent and hurtful to my family and I don't appreciate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.249.157 (talk) 23:51, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't have a middle name then the Ravin Caldwell article is not about you. Cannolis (talk) 23:58, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey dude, Sorry about editing that page, I wanted to prove a point about how regulated wikipedia is, and the fact that you can use it for school.

Your advice on Teen Wolf talk page[edit]

I looked at the links you sent. It says I need 4 days or 100 days to be confirmed as a user, depending on some things I didn't quite understand. It's fine though, either way, because it's been 516 days since I joined here. Probably even more, because that's since my first edit. Do you know who I can talk to in order to be confirmed manually, because it doesn't seem like the system will autoconfirm me anytime soon. Mgc26133 (talk) 08:57, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm confirmed now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mgc26133 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what to make of your edit summary here. I removed that material in the edit just prior, as it was uncited in a BLP. If you have a source to back it up, I'm sure you know how to get it back. Otherwise just ask and I'll put it back for you. Regards, Samsara (FA  FP) 23:29, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Right, sorry that wasn't very clear. I was responding to the edit request for August 30 and removing the date/place of death in the infobox as I didn't see any sources reporting his death. I was also removing the "other occupation: special services" bit from the infobox as I agreed with your removing the special services for Russian teams section, that whole bit seemed very much like OR/angry fan ranting. I personally am not particularly interested in looking for sources for that bit, though of course I too would have no problems with it being reinstated with sources. Atlas Shrugged Part III[edit]

Hi Cannolis. I attended the premier of Atlas Shrugged III and the scene of Dagney and a priest was not in the film. Italy[edit]

Please ,can you change the article Italy where Italy was described at least as "leading middle " power ? Somebody changed it and vandalized it bypassing the Talk of Italy article.Or Wikipedia respects Italy prestige or Italian Symbols must be deleted form the article.Thanks.151.40.40.83 (talk) 20:06, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see where it is described as a "middle power" anywhere Cannolis (talk) 22:05, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Middle power .Italy is a "leading middle power and a major regional power of Europe" as already cited in the article.Somebody vandalized it.Time to restore. This the minimum that can describe in a sufficient way Italy .Italy in reality is a great power.I 'll warn authorities if nothing will change in the article.I already discovered who changed the article bypassing discussion on Talk of Italy the article.Thanks.151.40.40.83 (talk) 22:16, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

this quoted block "leading middle power and a major regional power of Europe", is it something already in the article or something you wish to be placed in the article? I've searched for it and pieces of that text in both the Italy and middle power articles and I don't see anything that looks like that. Also, from the sources that are cited on both of those article, it looks like the reliable sources describe Italy as a regional or middle power. You can go ahead and warn whatever authorities you wish, but if you are asking for the article to say something the sources do not, you're barking up the wrong tree. Cannolis (talk) 22:27, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Italy was so defined and somebody changed this sentence.Italy is in "Middle power " article where is considered "leading" or "main" and in regional article.Remember in that page are Symbols of Italy.Italy was described in the article before it was changed as a "leading middle power" and a "major regional power of Europe".You can find how was the former sentence. Are you able to find it?It seems you didn't read "Middle power" article.I already warned once italian authorities some months ago. Please restore it.I'll wait for some time then i'll follow the other way.Thanks.151.40.40.83 (talk) 22:32, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Find a specific diff, I'm not going to go back and look through all the diffs to find where it was changed, especially since the current description of "Italy is considered to be a major European power able to exert its influence on a global scale" seems to be quite in line with the cited sources. Cannolis (talk) 23:01, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Italy is also a "main" or "leading" middle power .Before Italy was descripted or reported as a leading or main middle power too.Have you something against Italy? It seems you are denying evidence descripted in this article. If you deny the article you deny Wikipedia.151.40.40.83 (talk) 23:03, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Show me a reliable source that says this, also explain how a regional power is significantly different from a middle power Cannolis (talk) 23:19, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

READ Middle power article. There you'll find reliable sources about Italy. So you'll be able to add what was written before the article was vandalized.Italy was described as "main or leading" middle power. You'll find Italy in middle powers list.Italy is described as meber of G7 too and is so described as a main or leading power. Thanks for your attention.151.40.40.83 (talk) 23:22, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

per the two cited sources for Italy on the middle power article, the 1st one says "Italy has acted as a regional power", the 2nd says "Italy plays a prominent role in European and global military, cultural and diplomatic affairs. The country's European political, social and economic influence make it a major regional power". I see nothing that says it is a leading middle power. I see major regional power, which I think is quite nicely expressed in the current text of the Italy article. Cannolis (talk) 23:31, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as the first source you linked to me was a dead link until I just repaired it, I doubt you've read any of the sources. If you have, please quote to me the sections that describe Italy as a main or leading middle power, otherwise I see no reason to make a change. Cannolis (talk) 23:59, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey translate the italian one. That's good. It's even described as great power.I've newspapers and books.Let the article in that way.Bye.151.40.40.83 (talk) 00:03, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The last source? "La rinascita di una grande potenza : il rientro del Giappone nella società internazionale e l'età della Guerra Fredda" ? I don't speak Italian, but from just googletranslating this title it seems it's about Japan during the Cold War era, not sure what this has to do with Italy or Italy's current status. It was 02:00 my time when i wrote you and i was sleepy.Anyway it's easy finding all what i wrote you.I think it's better to let the article in that way.I can find tons of books and newspapers articles about Italy middle power or great power."Middle powers and the rise of China" by B. Giley and A. O'Neil (2014)-"International relations:The Key concepts" by Griffiths and and O'Callaghan (2013)and many other books. These are also 2 main articles about Italy as great power .I can find much more of them.In the following 2 ones Parag Khanna and a main french media describe Italy as a great power.I'm unable to post them correctly ,but i'm sure you are able to correct to post them in the right way.  ://www.sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ilgiornale.it%2Fnews%2Flitalia-grande-potenza-che-non-sa-esserlo.html&ei=5LAfVJKQIcXnOfeigQg&usg=AFQjCNHqvURo5hVEpDJlSxhi9GgKVpNX3g&bvm=bv.75775273,d.ZWUhttps://www./url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=8&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CFwQFjAH&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tv5monde.com%2Fcms%2Fchaine-francophone%2Fp-3777-Sommet-du-G8-les-grandes-puissances-reunies-en-Italie.htm&ei=SLEfVI3zKcmQOOnfgagJ&usg=AFQjCNE77RLiDhZFtVEqpHOLSscHy7u_JQ&bvm=bv.75775273,d.ZWU People reading Italy article will realize that there's something wrong in other countries presentations that are boosted (or Italy is undervalued in Wikipedia, one of the 2 possibilities,no neutrality this is sure). These citations and others show you that Italy is a middle or/and a great power .Related articles of Wikipedia are really low and questionable. Thanks again for your attention and bye.151.40.40.83 (talk) 05:20, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The first two books you cite seem to be fine and reasonably reliable sources. I can't access the linked urls, none of them work. I still can't access any of these links. perhaps just copy/pasting them directly from the url area of your browser might work? not sure. Either way, there are tons of references that also define Italy as a regional power and as a middle power without saying it is a "leading" or "major" middle power. If you believe that the number of sources that say it is a leading/major middle power or a great power outnumber the ones that simply describe it as a middle or regional one, I suggest that you return to the talk page for Italy article where you first placed the edit request and start a discussion or request for comment to build consensus for that. A simple edit request will not do. Cannolis (talk) 02:41, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry even if we leave the article in this way because all world know the real status of Italy that is leading power/great power at every level.Sometimes for hidden and primary religious reasons it's better holding a low level profile than a great fanfare profile like other common less important countries that are defined great power by the same people of these ones(that's really it's ridiculous). They self appoint their countries sliding in a ridiculous propaganda.I thank you all the same for your attention.I don't know how to post you a star but you'd merit it).151.40.4.120 (talk) 05:10, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lunar Eclipse[edit]

Hi! As part of a class assignment Victoria (talk), Andrew (talk), Kieran (talk), and I (Jordan (talk)) will be working on expanding the article about lunar eclipses (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Lunar_eclipse). We noticed that you have been writing on the talk page on the article, and we were hoping you might be able to help us out with getting started. For each of us, this is our first time seriously editing Wikipedia, but we wanted to add citations in the Lunar Eclipse in Mythology, Blood Moon, and Occurrence sections. We also wanted to add material to the Lunar Eclipse in Mythology section, Lunar versus Solar Eclipse section, and the Multimedia section.

In case you were wondering, the talk page for our class website is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Program:Cornell_University/Online_Communities_(Fall_2014)

SPI?[edit]

I'm wondering if I should open up a SPI for Masi Popal and PeacePlanet15, the editors who made JDAP and British conspiracy In Creation of Israel. I'm somewhat convinced that they're either the same person or a case of WP:MEAT. I've blocked both of them since the pages could be considered attack pages somewhat (JDAP openly called for people to form an army) and definitely spam, but I'm mildly concerned about sleepers or alternate accounts. What do you think? Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:49, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a good idea. Always helps to have somewhere to start if he/she/they come back and start vandalizing in a less transparent manner. Thanks for blocking them too. Cannolis (talk) 07:37, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please change the spouse section of the person's box on the Marie Curie page? It lists their marriage from 1859 to 1906. The correct time of their marriage was in 1895. Fall of the Berlin Wall[edit]

Hi, you asked me to show you how my link at the Fall of the Wall page woulds be noteworthy. My answer is, simply read the PDF document I am linking to. Then you can judge. SvenLittkowski (talk) 10:09, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, no, per Wikipedia's policy on sourcing and the external links section, we don't just throw anything in there, you need to show notability, either of yourself as the author, or the piece. Some sort of good secondary coverage. Otherwise anybody could claim they were eyewitnesses and write up a little memoir and put it on Wikipedia. We don't want that so we let good secondary sources pick the notable ones. Cannolis (talk) 10:24, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chikungunya[edit]

I notice that you reverted my addition to the Chikungunya article, citing "Source not WP:MEDRS compliant as is required for any medical claim".

I do not believe that the text I added was making a "medical claim", but simply recording a fact. There was a trial held in India. The results of that trial indicated an improved outcome, and as such a more rigid trial would need to be conducted before any medical claim could be made.

Personally I am very skeptical of homeopathy, but this trial did take place. That is just a matter of fact. Furthermore the text clearly indicated that any conclusion can only be made in a more controlled double-blind study.

How would you suggest this information be captured on the Wikipedia page? Regardless of whether there is any efficacy of homeopathy or not, the information regarding its use as an attempt at treating this condition is nonetheless factual.

Deleting this information, rather than considering how it could be improved, indicates a lack of neutral point of view that is reactionary and dogmatic. Xtempore (talk) 01:24, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest it not be captured. Wikipedia is not a indiscriminate collector of information, we do not report on every single bit of anything because a) that would simply be overwhelming and b) it lends undue weight to things that may not be notable. So while it is indeed factual that they performed a study, the question of importance remains. As you said yourself, no conclusion was drawn from the study (no surprise as an observational study), so who cares if they did it? If it were a high quality WP:MEDRS compliant metaanalysis or even a RCT that might be another thing, but discussing a weak observational study in article space lends undue weight to homeopathy as a treatment modality. Also read WP:NPOV. Neutral here does not mean equality for all viewpoints. Cannolis (talk) 09:46, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

John Ritter[edit]

Stella Ritter - IMDb - Stella Ritter's IMDB page states that she was born September 11, 1998. Amy Yasbeck - IMDb - John Ritter (18 September 1999 - 11 September 2003) (his death) (1 child) Navz666 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 09:54, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb isn't a reliable source, just like Wikipedia isn't, as you or I can make changes to it. However, there seems to be a contradiction in the sources that I can find. The one we have currently cited in Ritter's and Yasbeck's articles says they were married in 1999 and that was 1 week after Stella's birth. On the other hand, I can find articles that say John died on her 5th birthday, which would place her birth at 1998. Not quite sure where to go with this. Cannolis (talk) 14:36, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted to a previous version of the above which removed your good-faith attempt to answer an edit request. But the subsequent edits by the same accounts demonstrated the request wasn't genuine in the first place. Your efforts there were appreciated nonetheless. Keep up the good work! Thanks, looks like I happened to look at the request in the midst of that user's fiddling around. Cannolis (talk) 14:04, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly right - and yours was the correct response to that request, had it been legitimate. Stlwart111 05:38, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia from the Anatomy Wikiproject![edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Anatomy! We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of anatomy articles here on Wikipedia. One of our members has noticed that you are involved in editing anatomy articles; it's great to have a new interested editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing wikipedia articles are:

  • Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProject Anatomy talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing anatomy articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Lastly, why not try and strive to create a good article! Anatomical articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!

Feel free to contact us on the WikiProject Anatomy talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. I wish you all the best on your wiki-voyages!

Not sure if I've already thanked you, but thanks for your edits to List of bones of the human skeleton, it's much clearer now. --Tom (LT) (talk) 23:44, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 24[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hephaestus, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Egyptian. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:18, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dosmetic Duck[edit]

The see also was a list of Duck breeds, the item I removed was a dish. The Pekin Duck listed was a Duck breed, not the Restaurant dish :-) Anyway, somebody has cleaned it thoroughly... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.44.36 (talk) 01:39, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

king of the English instead of king of england[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Style_of_the_British_sovereign according to this page the proper title is Rex Anglorum

(King of the English) therefore I would say that king of the English is the more accurate term — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bpoic (talkcontribs) 17:34, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Keanu Reeves[edit]

I can't resist asking if Cheer Up Keanu Day was in any way responsible for Reeves's current ebullience. Did he even know about it? "Oh, the internet deal," he says vaguely. "It was brought to my attention. Yeah, it was funny. But no, the book predates that by a long time. We finished it in August 2009. It is hopefully, in a quiet and enjoyable way, transformative. The kind of thing that takes you from this one place to another – to look at yourself and, y'know, it can always be worse. I hate that sentence: of course it can always be worse!"

The entire Guardian piece was for his book, not for Cheer Up Keanu Day. That said, this paragraph is noticeable.

Firstly, it shows that the "Ode To Happiness" book was completed before those pictures of him on that park bench came to light. Meaning... he was still "sad", even after having completed the book. Secondly, this particular quote shows him attempting to stay on the topic of the book, but the second part of the comment references the attention he received as a result of the pictures/Cheer Up Keanu Day. Lastly, when I rewrote the bulk of his "Personal Life" section about a year ago, the depth of tragedy in his life was detailed to a greater extent than it is now.

It's a good quote, given the proper context of his background. I've put a ton of time into Keanu Reeve's page, but I'm not gonna go back & forth on this. If you really think the quote is so out of place, then so be it. The flow of the Personal Life section has been eroded anyways. It is now pretty awful - two and three sentence subsections - ugh. It's difficult to separate the important personal stuff from career stuff anyways =/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grillmaster423 (talkcontribs) 17:36, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I do think the quote is out of place - it has little to do with the meme itself, except the first two sentences. I have no disagreement with using those two sentences by themselves to discuss the meme(and as I noted on the article's talk page, the meme being discussed at all in a Guardian piece is notable), but the body of the quote is specifically about the book. Reading into the background and his intent and things is too far into WP:OR to do. Cannolis (talk) 16:44, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Reading into the background and his intent and things is too far into WP:OR to do." Agreed.

For curiosity's sake, here's how it used to read:

In December 1999, Reeves's girlfriend, Jennifer Syme gave birth to a stillborn daughter. Ava Archer Syme-Reeves was born prematurely following an eight month pregnancy. 18 months later, Syme died, the sole passenger in an automobile wreck. Reeves, who was scheduled to begin shooting back-to-back Matrix sequels during the subsequent spring, was seeking "peace and time to deal with this," said his friend Bret Domrose, a guitarist in Reeves's alternative rock band Dogstar.

...

Reeves gained internet notoriety in 2010. Photos of him, seemingly distressed while eating alone, were posted to a 4chan forum. The images were soon distributed via several blogs and news sites. These pictures led to the "Keanu is Sad" or "Sad Keanu" meme being spread on internet forums. Furthermore, an unofficial holiday was created when a Facebook fan page declared June 15 as "Cheer-up Keanu Day".On the one-year anniversary of "Cheer-up Keanu Day", Reeves was interviewed for an article in British newspaper, The Guardian. When prompted about the unsolicited attention, he responded, "It is hopefully, in a quiet and enjoyable way, transformative. The kind of thing that takes you from this one place to another – to look at yourself and, y'know, it can always be worse. I hate that sentence: of course it can always be worse!"

About Amir Liaquat Hussain Page edits[edit]

Dear Cannolis,

You recently undid my edits to Amir Liaquat. If you see the references I quoted for him, you would realize that you made a mistake. He got each of his degrees from fake sources. He is making fool of people. The only chance to write some truth about him is Wikipedia and now you have just bereaved me of that. Let the truth prevail. He is making people fool by portraying himself a scholar. Please do some literature survey about him and let the truth prevail. I hope it would be more productive.

regards

Nasirphp — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nasirphp (talkcontribs) 21:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not the place to WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. The fact that his degrees are fake is already mentioned in the lede - "In 2005, an investigation into his background revealed that his degrees were fake." The way you added this information (which was already there), was inappropriate - replacing that he is a politician and broadcaster with being "famous for fake degrees', which is giving grossly undue weight. Cannolis (talk) 23:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

read ur facts[edit]

If u say Buddha was not born in NEPAL because it was called shakya kingdom ,then how can u say beethovan was from UK because there was no UK term as such so please correct your thoughts... Sarojb2006 (talk) 19:04, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, first of all, I would not say Beethoven was from the UK as he was born in Germany. Secondly, I don't know or care where Buddha was born. What I do know and care about is that just before where you made your addition there was a "Note: Gautama was a Shakya, born in the Shakya republic. Nepal did not exist at that time. The Shakya territory covered an area which is nowadays partly in Nepal, partly in India. Any further additions will be removed." You made no effort to discuss on the talk page first, nor did you add any new sources. Cannolis (talk) 21:56, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DRN[edit]

Hey, Cannolis, thank you for helping out at DRN. We really appreciate it. If you're going to act as a volunteer, however, could you please put yourself on the list at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Volunteering#List of the DRN volunteers so that our status bot recognizes you as a volunteer and not as someone who is involved in or is joining in the dispute? Again, many thanks for your assistance. Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 13:17, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I had added myself previously but realized I probably was not going to be able to handle the real disputes that go on at DRN, just simple closes such as the one I just closed, and so removed myself. But if this makes the bot work, then I'll put myself back on there. Cannolis (talk) 05:58, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing: When you close a case using {{DRN archive top}} you also have to put {{DRN archive bottom}} at the end of the case or everything below it on the DRN page gets included in the archive. Compare this as you closed the bottom case and this after I added the bottom tag. No big deal, just one more thing to remember. Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 18:58, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Whups, sorry, thanks for catching and fixing that Cannolis (talk) 04:11, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How do i put citations[edit]

I am a new wikipedia editor. So i would like to know how to put refrences and citations — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sublimeandbeatlesfan1234 (talkcontribs) 15:07, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Try going over Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure. Fair warning though, there are no reliable sources that show Chandler is notable. Which is why an article about him was deleted on multiple occasions in the past. Cannolis (talk) 16:04, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's simply Mills claiming Drake does not write his own raps. You might want to read through WP:RS Cannolis (talk) 23:26, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Boxer Wachler Deletion[edit]

Cannolis: Thanks for replying to my comment on the "talk page" for this thread. I hope i got your suggestion right that i needed to post to the "main page" and i did. I didn't know the rules exactly on a semi-locked page so i wanted to take the conservative route and proceed as if i needed to ask permission. If i made a mistake or misinterpreted what you meant, could you please let me know and give me some instructions on how to fix it since i may not know? I'm more of a "lurker" than an experienced editor. TYVM for your help!!! Jf3300 (talk) 19:23, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it looks like you commented correctly on the main mage for the deletion discussion. If you want to make another edit request for the article itself, you would post on Talk:Brian Boxer Wachler, but your account is autoconfirmed by virtue of being older than 4 days and having more than 10 edits, so semi-protection does not block you from editing, and you do not need to make a request for others to make an edit for you. Suggesting your edits on the talk page first is encouraged however. Keep in mind that any changes to any article should be reliably sourced, particularly with secondary sources, and edits to an article under consideration at the Articles for Deletion process will be under much closer scrutiny than most. False Positive Vandal Edit[edit]

Lawson_Park[edit]

Hi Cannolis. I had edited the page because my mother was Dorothy Ramsay nee Nicholson and was born in that house in 1942, as were her sisters Joyce, Kathy, and brother Harry. Her father was Ernest Nicholson who was a tennant farmer there for a number of years before moving elsewhere and then to Canada in 1956. The stories of supernatural goings on there have been in my family since I was a small child. I am not sure how to add a citation for that from where I am in Trinidad and Tobago.

Lawrence Ramsay — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.188.51.212 (talk) 18:19, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, if these were only stories that were told within your family and you cannot provide a verifiable reliable source, Wikipedia policy is against including that sort of information. Cannolis (talk) 20:11, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that's grossly obvious. The use of proxies from various nations and the associated language changes is adorable though. Looks like NeilN has protected the talk page as well. Awesome. Cannolis (talk) 12:51, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
