Reliable references[edit]

Hi, Carliniphoto. Welcome to Wikipedia. We are glad you are here. I am writing to you in regard to Gino Carlini / Carlini Photography inc.. I noticed that this article has recently been proposed for deletion as an unreferenced biography of a living person. In response to that you added 3 references. That's good! Unfortunately, none of the references you added can really be called reliable. They all rely on content that is not reviewed in any way. That's not so good. What is really needed is some reference to the artist's work in independent media such as newspapers or magazines. It would also be more appropriate to cite individual facts by using the citation style of referencing. To do this, you type <ref> after the sentence you are referencing, followed by the exact web address of your reference, then </ref>. At the end of the article, add a subheading for references like this:==References==. Hit enter and then type {{Reflist}}. This will automatically create footnotes for you.

I am also fairly certain someone will come along and tell you that you have a conflict of interest, as your username implies that you are the subject of the article. If this is the case, don't worry too much about it. It just means that you will be held to a higher standard while editing the above named article as far as neutrality goes. Just be careful to be fair and non-promotional in your tone of writing.

If I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Gtwfan52 (talk) 06:33, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Carliniphoto for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 09:29, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Ginocarlini.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ginocarlini.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. GB fan 14:13, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Further explanation of Replaceability[edit]

The reason all those images are replaceable is that anyone can take a picture of those people and specify a CC-BY-SA or GFDL license. You have chosen not to with your photographs and that is fine, but according to our policies they can not be used unless you do. If you have any questions please ask. GB fan 15:09, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand what you are trying to do here, all the pictures you are trying to upload are yours, right? If you want them on Wikipedia, your only choice is to release them under CC-BY-SA 3.0. Everything on Wikipedia belongs to the world. If you are not willing to release them under the above named license, they cannot be used. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Blocked for sockpuppetry[edit]

August 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Carliniphoto", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website. Please note that Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or appear to be shared by multiple people. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Your user name, Carliniphoto, and your watermarked photos, Carlini Photography make it clear that your user name is meant to be a business name, which is not acceptable as a user name. Carliniphoto (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

As far this sockpuppet case.. I use firefox and a lot of times if you have more then one account when you go to that page it signs you into that account. I thought when I created The Article on Gino Carlini I was signed into the carliniphoto account. I obviously was in the wrong account and then I turned the computer off, took a break and came back and signed in again..under carliniphoto. I did not realize I was signed in under 2 accounts and did not mean any deception at all on my part. Carliniphoto (talk) 19:17, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Having two accounts (except under certain circumstances) is against our rules. It is in itself often a means of deception. I also feel that this account should not be unblocked because to me it appears to be a violation of our username policy by appearing to represent a business. I would also refer you to WP:COI (writing about you and yours) and WP:AUTOBIO (if you are Mr Carlini). Peridon (talk) 21:41, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

ATTN DENNIS![edit]

Well thank you Dennis for completely blocking me! Ive been on wiki for ONE day and still trying to figure out how to use this complicated system.. Thank you for being SO Rude!

Second.. I'm Gino Carlini.. a fairly well known photographer in the music industry. Ive been published on Album covers, book covers, posters Cd Booklets and in magazines all over the world. I think as an artist I deserve a wiki page. For 27 years Ive creatively contributed to the art in the music industry. I go under carliniphoto for everything and that's what most know me by.. or my credits usually say Gino Carlini /Carliniphoto. It is not some Business name! Its my creative name.. So NO I don't want to change my name. All I wanted was to have a wiki page for people to see what published work Ive done in the music industry. You also have several Articles on wiki on subjects thatI had creative contribution to. I just wanted there to be a link to my own page.. so when an article says "photography was created by Gino Carlini or Carliniphoto.. They can click the link and see who I am.

This is website is so complicated and I don't know how you expect someone to have to have it figured out in one day!!!! If this is how Wiki lets people run their system, then I think I will just go ahead and not come back..

Thanks for the great welcome!

  • I notice you didn't ask why were were blocked. It was for using multiple accounts, and you also have a promotional name. If you want to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia properly, without hassles, that can easily be arranged. However, you have broken several policies already and I suggest you be more inquisitive and less demanding if you want to get answers. Uploading images with giant watermarks of your company name is a problem, as is using a company name, as is using multiple accounts. You need to read WP:COI, and I suggest looking at WP:HELP for a bit more info as well. The WP:Teahouse is a good place for new users to learn the ropes as well. As for being 27 years, etc, etc, that is swell but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a marketing tool, and it would be helpful if you learned a bit first. As for having a page on yourself, that is best done by someone else other than yourself. We have a great number of editors here who have their own articles, but they don't usually don't edit them themselves. So if you want help, great, hope you learn the ropes and stay. If your only goal is promotion then you can still stay, but you have to abide by the policies on conflict of interest, just like everyone else. As for changing your name, that is between you and WP:UAA, I don't usually work those issues, only sockpuppetry related issues, to which you were linked to User:Xpublicityinc. at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Carliniphoto. In Illinois automobile drivers who just got their learners permit in the morning are not allowed to drive on the 8 lane expressways that same afternoon. Invariably, if they do, other drivers will start honking at them because of their limited ability and the resulting mayhem it causes. When the State Tropper eventually pulls them over, he is not being rude. He is protecting the safety on the hyway system and the well-being of the other drivers. While Wikipedia doesn't issue learners permits, your fellow editors will "honk" at you if you try to do more than you know how. User:Brown and User:Gtwfan52 are gentlemen and knowledgable Wikipedia editors. If you get a few hours of reading and doing simple edits under your belt, I'm sure you will find that the honking will stop and you will learn how to do whatever it is you want to do here. But the learning is up to you. ```Buster Seven Talk 01:32, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:TeslaReplugged.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TeslaReplugged.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
