Isometric projection[edit]

The list of "Notable examples of "isometric" computer and video games" has been pruned several times before, when it was thought to have grown too long; please don't expand it indiscriminately... AnonMoos 06:09, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Carlwev but I've hacked your entries out as per AnonMoos' point. Some of the titles you added were sequels to titles already on the list, while others were for games for which there aren't any screenshots. For an article on graphics, there's no sense in adding examples like this. Sorry. --Plumbago 09:04, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Landstalker-UK-cover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Landstalker-UK-cover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 13:35, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:NotButter5.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NotButter5.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:05, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

    • I understand wanting to expand the stubs, but you have to do it in a style appropriate to Wikipedia. Explicit in policy is the fact that Wikipedia is not a game guide, therefore you cannot talk excessively about how to incorporate the moves into your strategy. Plus, I reverted the majority of your changes to Hadouken because some of the facts you presented were wrong; most obvious was the section where it talked about how a Hadouken can be thrown immediately one after the other, which is simply not true (only the Marvel vs. Capcom series permits you to have more than one fireball on screen at a time). I would like you to keep editing the articles, just conform to policy please. :) JuJube 18:05, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ScattergoriesBox.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ScattergoriesBox.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 13:54, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Paki shop, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

"Paki Shop's" do not exist. This is a racist term which does not warrant an encylopaedic article which appears designed only to give credibility to that which deserves none.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. B1atv 23:41, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FernGully1.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FernGully1.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:58, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Greenwich-Ward-Map.PNG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Greenwich-Wards-Map.PNG. The copy called Image:Greenwich-Wards-Map.PNG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. Greater London[edit]

Hello there!

Yes I drew the original London map (as well as all the county maps for infoboxes in England). It was my first such map and subsequently appears to have had some errors. Thanks for spotting the problems with boundaries. I've uploaded you version over the top of the existing version at WikiCommons, so, if you hold down your "Ctrl" button and press "F5" (assuming you use Windows Internet Explorer) your version should now display automatically in the infobox.

Can you let me know if that does or doesn't work? Hopefully it does! Thanks again, -- Jza84 · (talk) 17:16, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Constituency Maps[edit]

Hey Carl - I spotted your constituency map on Bromley and Chislehurst article. I am really interested in including a similar map for those constituencies in my home town of Preston (there are 3), as well as - and this is where you may not be able to help but I'll give it a go - having individual articles for wards within Preston, as I think exist for Sheffield. Stumbling over the UKWard template gave me the idea.

Is there any chance you could help me out with maps for Preston, or point me in the direction of someone who can?

Health (game mechanic)[edit]

Excuse me my good man, your edits to Health (game mechanic) are interesting, but you provide no references. Personally, I would avoid discussing health in video games with such depth (particularly since that info could just as easily be added to the article on The Getaway). It's been a struggle to dig up references for that article, but it has to be done.

I like how you brought up Zelda, but don't make broad statements about games unless you have references. Johnnyfog 22:45, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:LewishamLogo.GIF)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LewishamLogo.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: Image:MonRolls.JPG[edit]

Image:MonRolls.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:MonRolls.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:MonRolls.jpg]]. AfD nomination of Penfold[edit]

I have nominated Penfold, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Penfold. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Typo redirect Lozoot[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Lozoot, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Lozoot is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Lozoot, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. You are now a reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

A tag has been placed on File:Timezones optimized.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-free rationale for File:Poddington.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Poddington.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Non-free rationale for File:SharwdsMeal.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SharwdsMeal.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disambiguation link notification for June 28[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Torture, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sadistic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Vital articles[edit]

Hey, I noticed you removed the cocktail Old Fashioned from the 10,000 VAs. If you were going to remove a cocktail, I wouldn't have removed that one...it's thought to be the world's oldest cocktail. I agree with removing blood and brain the foods, though pbp 18:34, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Landstalker-UK-cover-lower-resolution.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Landstalker-UK-cover-lower-resolution.JPG.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:02, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name or Personal name[edit]

I much prefer the original addition of Personal name, as it is an article with a well-defined scope and a content that I know from experience will be of great interest to a broad range of readers. The Name article is a hodge-podge, and the other-language wikipedia articles are mostly stubs. A "name" is essentially just a proper noun, or even a noun, and thus covers any label of anything. Such an article will end up as a duplication of Noun, a mish-mash of various specific cases, or else a metaphysical philosophy of the practice of naming (I've seen published theses on this topic). So, I strongly prefer Personal name be kept as a Vital Article rather than Name. --EncycloPetey (talk) 02:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have undone [en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AVital_articles%2FExpanded%2FAnthropology%2C_psychology_and_everyday_life&diff=515305557&oldid=515271777 this revision] which you made to Wikipedia:Vital articles/Expanded/Anthropology, psychology and everyday life.
