Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you made a change to an article, San Clemente, California, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:41, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, CarrieAnnTanner. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. power~enwiki (π, ν) 23:25, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for helping me understand the COI rules. I am new to this and learning the rules. Can you please read the page I wrote on Carson Kropfl and references provided to make sure that I was appropriate? I am not receiving any compensation for writing this page, didn't link to his website and did my best to comply. However, I am related (I am his mother) - and didn't realize I wasn't allowed to create a page. I did make it factual and supplied the appropriate references - he has had over 20 different articles written about him and he's being contacted from people all over the world. I'm not trying to influence; just making a page about him so when people look him up they can get the correct information about him. Can you review and edit? CarrieAnnTanner (talk) 01:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The short answer is that you should use the articles for creation process for any articles on this topic, as you have a conflict of interst. The longer answer is that it's unlikely appearing on Shark Tank is sufficient for notability. After a recent RFC, the standards of notability for companies have been increased to a certain degree, and I doubt this company meets them, or will meet them until its presence in the skateboard market is significant, as determined by third-party sources. power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:36, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi power~enwiki can you please reconsider deleting the page on Locker Board and Carson Kropfl? If you check the references provided I wrote only the facts. Or, can you create the page the best way you see fit? Locker Board and Carson Kropfl have appeared in over 30 articles/shows in the last 18 months. He has a TEDxKids Talk he did last month, that will be released next week. People from all over the world are reaching out to learn about him and Locker Board. He is inspiring people all over the world. I think it's appropriate to have pages on Wikipedia based on his accomplishments in such a short amount of time and at his age (he's 12 years old). I see pages on people and companies that have accomplished far less. There is a lot of human interest in Locker Board and Carson Kropfl. Here are all the articles to review to compile what you think is appropriate. I've listed them in date order. Thank you so much for your help with this:

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Locker Board, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hiàn (talk) 03:28, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
