Interstate 80 in Indiana

Interstate 80 has a full set of state-detail articles for all of the states through which is passes from California to New Jersey. Per WP:SIZE, full coverage of the topic area would be too much for a single national article to handle, which is why there are the full set of these articles to hold the exit list tables and state-specific details while the national article is supposed to contain a summary, per WP:SUMMARYSTYLE. This practice is quite standard. The project standard has been to use this whenever a single highway traverses three or more states, although that rule has some logical exceptions due to the relative lengths involved.

Indiana's segment of I-80 is a little different from those in the other states. I-80 in Indiana is fully overlapped with two other Interstates: I-94 from the Illinois state line to Lake Station, and then I-90 on the Indiana Toll Road from Lake Station to the Ohio state line. Consensus for years has been that such an article would overly duplicate sections of the Interstate 94 in Indiana and Indiana Toll Road (I-90 in Indiana) articles and be a maintenance burden, requiring editors improving specific sections of those two articles to edit a third to keep them in sync. Thus it was cut down to the set-index article, and recent attempts by a problematic anonymous editor to restore a full article have been reverted repeatedly.

Now, what is the end result of tagging this set index for notability? We aren't going to write a full article with an exit list and lots of citations due to the maintenance issues mentioned in the previous paragraph. We can't redirect Interstate 80 in Indiana to another article because there isn't a 1:1 correspondence between it and another article. As far as I'm aware, set indices like this do not require citations at all. WP:GEOROAD would counsel that major highways like this are notable and wouldn't be deleted. So the best solution is where we are: the set index.

Had that problematic IP (whose favorite contribution was Draft:Interstate and U.S. Highways with Interstate 80, a draft article about the highways that overlap I-80, a topic that will never be approved and would be immediately deleted if it did slip through) not bothered, this set index would be doing what it's done for years unmolested, directing readers to the places they want to be, which is a benefit to Wikipedia readers.   • On wikis where patrolled edits are enabled, changes made to the mentor list by autopatrolled mentors are not correctly marked as patrolled. It will be fixed later this week. [1]

Changes later this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 February. It will be on all wikis from 16 February (calendar).
  • The Reply tool and other parts of DiscussionTools will be deployed for all editors using the mobile site. You can read more about this decision. [2]

  • All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on March 1. This is planned for 14:00 UTC. More information will be published in Tech News and will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [3][4][5]

Please note that both CVUA and NPPS do require a lot of your time to do the assignment and reading the material (guidelines). Epifanove NPPS is much harder than CVUA and I dont think editors should take both of the program together. Secondly and most importantly, to edit Wikipedia is about improve the article and not just get as many edits as you want so you can participant in the program. Lastly, you still need to to complete WP:TWA firtst priro I culd set up the CVUA program for you. Cassiopeia talk 01:46, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

BJJ belt rank in infobox

Been having a few conversations here, here and here about the formatting of the belt ranks in infobox, specifically as it relates to WP:SMALLFONT, the new color box template and moving who the belt is under to a note to declutter, as demonstrated here, and I must say I'm more confused now, than I've ever been about what is, or isn't best practice, specifically as MMA and BJJ editors have interpreted the rules differently, which is obviously troublesome given the crossover of athletes between the sports. @Psycho-Krillin and Nswix: Hi, All combat sport that have a WikiProject page would have their certain ways to formatting the respectively pages. In MMA fighter pages, we can follow WP:SMALLFONT if we want, but it does not specify under which instructor should be mentioned at all and it will be up the editor and if the info is supported by independent, reliable source. As for the new color box template, it was created a month ago and I am not aware there is a discussion on agreement. To me, since there is no specific mention in the WikiProject MMA and most of MMA fighter pages do not have colour icon on ranks (also different sport share different ranking system and names and colour codes), I suggest to do away with the colour box for MMA fighters but just mention in text - keep it consistent unless we really to have change it as thousands of pages will be effected.03:50, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

1.145.50.95 The info is as per source and it state Mllarkey black belt is under Magnus and didnt state Magnus is a black belt or not. Wikipedia needs source for verification of content added/changed and we can take your statement for verification as you are anonymous editors and if you keep on remove the info you will be blocked.   2. They are beginning a new project, Edit check.

Talk pages project

Screenshot showing the talk page design changes that are currently available as beta features at all Wikimedia wikis. These features include information about the number of people and comments within each discussion.
Some of the upcoming changes

The Editing team is nearly finished with this first phase of the Talk pages project. Nearly all new features are available now in the Beta Feature for Discussion tools.

It will show information about how active a discussion is, such as the date of the most recent comment. There will soon be a new "Add topic" button. You will be able to turn them off at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion. Please tell them what you think.

Daily edit completion rate by test group: DiscussionTools (test group) and MobileFrontend overlay (control group)

An A/B test for Discussion tools on the mobile site has finished. Editors were more successful with Discussion tools. The Editing team is enabling these features for all editors on the mobile site.

New Project: Edit Check

The Editing team is beginning a project to help new editors of Wikipedia. It will help people identify some problems before they click "Publish changes". The first tool will encourage people to add references when they add new content. Please watch that page for more information. You can join a conference call on 3 March 2023 to learn more.

Recent changes

  • The Community Wishlist Survey 2023 edition has been concluded. Community Tech has published the results of the survey and will provide an update on what is next in April 2023.
  • On wikis which use LanguageConverter to handle multiple writing systems, articles which used custom conversion rules in the wikitext (primarily on Chinese Wikipedia) would have these rules applied inconsistently in the table of contents, especially in the Vector 2022 skin. This has now been fixed. [13]
