non-free material[edit]

I am sorry, the image you are using is a non-free image. You are not allowed to use non-free material outside of mainspace. If you wish to have the image in the page, remember to put it there when the page is moved into mainspace (not earlier). Also, please make sure it has a proper rationale (I did not check, you may have done that already). Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:57, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:ERKI Fashion Show 1997- A collection by Gerly Tinn.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ERKI Fashion Show 1997- A collection by Gerly Tinn.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 12:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ERKI Fashion Show, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. MikeWazowski (talk) 18:18, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. First of all, I see you never got a proper welcome, so welcome to Wikipedia! You're welcome to contact me on my talk page if you need help with anything.

Now, on to the actual issue. The article was deleted because it was umambiguously promotional, and, I'm afraid, I have to agree. Phrases like "among the largest and most important fashion events", "more of an accompaniment to the legendary parties" and "much anticipated display of the brightest and wildest ideas young designers have to offer" (all taken from the lead section) are just not appropriate. Wikipedia is written from the neutral point of view, while this article is clearly in favour of the event. (A quick read of this may also be helpful.) You mentioned that you are close to the event; typically, we advise against writing about something with which you are closely involved, for precisely the reason that it can be difficult to write from the neutral point of view. Just looking at the section titles ("The year was 1982...", "The end of an era", etc) suggests that this is not written in an appropriate tone; it reads more like an informational pamphlet handed out at the event. This is the issue that really needs to be dealt with before it is ready for the mainspace, but some more issues to consider are the following:

  • Make sure everything is sourced to reliable sources; newspapers, books, things like that are your best bet. An over-dependence on primary sources is not a good thing. If a large number of reliable sources don't exist, there probably shouldn't be an article. At the moment, for instance, there's a large collection of unsourced quotes. This is very problematic, for a number of reasons- there should not be a section for a list of quotes like that.
  • The bold text throughout the prose is really not necessary. You don't need to bold key words.
  • The "chapter titles" aren't really necessary. A history section, with subsections by decade, will probably be all that's needed.

The NPOV issue is a real problem with the article as it currently stands, and an awful lot of the article will need to be rewritten. I've restored it to User:Ccchnl/ERKI Fashion Show so that you can work on it, and I'm happy to offer further guidance if you would like it. I would recommend contacting me or another experienced Wikipedian before moving it back to the mainspace so that any further problems can be pointed out, to avoid deletion. This won't be easy, but you're jumping straight in to deep water writing such a long article, especially when it's an article unlike others (not just another album, species of mushroom or village) and when it's on a topic close to you. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) 23:10, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can't cite your own interviews, as that would constitute original research. However, there's nothing as such wrong with citing Estonian sources, as long as they are reliable. Concerning the new draft, it's much more neutrally worded now, which is a definite improvement, but both the sources cited are primary, meaning that the article does not establish the notability of the subject. Perhaps you'd be able to cite some reliable, third party sources instead? J Milburn (talk) 23:06, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Free rationale for File:ERKI Fashion Show (ERKI Moeshow) poster from the 80s..jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ERKI Fashion Show (ERKI Moeshow) poster from the 80s..jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:35, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
