Wow. I just looked at the article and what you did to it in essentially a day and thought you totally deserve this.

The Original Barnstar
To Charleenmerced for her exceptional work on the Wine label article. In the matter of a day you took it from being a stub to now a full fledge article packed with informative and useful information. AgneCheese/Wine 22:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Winery dbs[edit]

I proded a bunch of winery that have been db tagged. I noticed you put hangons on the articles of Bent Creek Winery & Big White House, but hadn't gotten to Cedar Mountain Winery--if you're going to fix up the article, I just wanted to let you know so it doesn't diappear from underneat the winery project. -- Scientizzle 05:33, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. :) "db" = speedy deletion. Too much jargon for my own good. -- Scientizzle 05:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

Hi Charleenmerced! Sorry for the delayed response. You can link to your contributions via Special:Contributions/Charleenmerced. As for your second question, I'm not exactly sure what's causing that, but these are my ideas: first, make sure that under my preferences -> user profile -> signature that this and only this <font color="Blue">Char</font><font color="Red">leen</font><font color="Green">mer</font><font color="Blue">ced</font> <font color = "blue"> Talk</font> occupies the box. Do you always sign using just four tildes? And what is your date preference under "date and time"? Also, be sure not to let your signature get too long; WP:SIG recommends no more that 200 characters, and you currently have 234. If the problem with your signature persists, please let me know and I will offer more ideas. Best, Dar-Ape 23:21, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish translation[edit]

Hi Charleen! I noticed you'd bravely volunteered to set up the Wine portal and thought the least I could do was offer my help as backup Spanish translator for other Wine articles. There's a heck of a lot to do, especially considering the paucity of info relative to the es articles. I'm not a native speaker but I could have a go at some sections, maybe leaving you just a copyedit instead of the full-on tradución. Right now it's a question of where to start..--mikaul 14:23, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puerto Rican American[edit]

I have never heard of the term either. As far as I know we Puerto Ricans are considered "Puerto Ricans" and period.

Anyway charleen, In regard to your User Page, I want you to get in touch with Phaedriel, she is our user page designer expert here. She has help develope some of the best pages in Wiki and I'm sure that she will find a solution to your problem. Tell her I sent you. Tony the Marine 21:44, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:08, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage[edit]

Sorry about the belated reply, I've been extremely busy recently. I made a couple formatting changes to your userpage that made the layout cleaner (from my perspective on my browser), but feel free to revert these if you like. Where do you want the interest heading to go? And regarding your signature, go to "my preferences," and what is currently in the text of the "signature" box in the "user profile" section? Re: Claudia Black picture[edit]

That picture was deleted under CSD I7. This criteria for speedy deletion states that any image that has been tagged with Template:Replaceable fair use can be deleted after seven days of the notice. All this is in the effort to remove images that are on Wikipedia under the umbrella of Fair Use when other, copyright free alternatives could be obtained. I hope this helps. Re:Puerto Rican[edit]

I agree with you 100%. I never heard of the term either. Tony the Marine 04:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have left a reply for you at WP:RM. There is a different article at Puerto Rican, rather than a redirect. You might want to look into merging the articles instead of moving one. Dekimasuよ! 05:44, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of Articles from Spanish[edit]

Hi, I've just recently joined the Wine Project and am keen to start contributing. However I'm not confident enough to just dive in. Maybe you could indicate some articles that need translating, or suggest some other tasks that I could do. Thanks. Finals[edit]

Luckily I don't have any written finals, only papers. My grad program consists of 10-20 page term papers being written for each class, which is good for me because I hate tests. If you send me your e-mail, Ill send you the paper. My e-mail is on my member page so you don't have to post your e-mail on here for all to see. Don't let the tests keep you down... --Christopher Tanner, CCC 17:51, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Info[edit]

Hi, thanks for all that info you posted on my talk page. I've been adopted by Mikauld and he's going to keep any eye on my first posts and edits. Thanks also for correcting that grammar, but I think it was a case of vandalism during the night! I hope to start as soon as poss. --BodegasAmbite 10:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted this page, because it was practically empty. Please only submit articles when they are ready. Obviously, they aren't all going to be featured to start with, but there is a difference between 'ready' and 'finished', if any article ever can be finished. J Milburn 16:33, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ask first, delete later? Seriously, you need to take a look at the backlogs sometime, or try some new page patrol. There isn't the time. The article met the criteria for speedy deletion, so it went. If you need working space, work in the userspace- that's what I do. J Milburn 16:40, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would have removed such a disclaimer anyway, as it is a self reference, and looks frightfully unprofessional. Sorry if I was hasty, I know the whole thing can seem so impersonal or uncaring. Writing articles in your userspace is massively useful, I reccomend you get into a habit of doing that. J Milburn 17:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Malvasia grape photos-Need help with Spanish[edit]

Hey Charleen,

I found a great photo on flickr of Malvesia blanc that would look nice on the Malvesia article. Unfortunately the uploader has choosen a non-wiki friendly creative commons license. Normally when you ask via flickr mail they will change it to one of the better licenses. However, it appears that the uploader speaks only Spanish and I was wondering if you would be willing to ask them to change the license to something we could use on the articles? Here is the photos by user vcuevas. If you click on the users link it will take you to their profile where you can send them flickr mail. If you don't already have a flickr account its free and quick to sign up for one. If you could do that it would be great. Thanks! AgneCheese/Wine 02:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Don't worry about the inactivity part. Outside life has caught up with us all. It is just one of those things that move in cycles. As for the message, here you go....
Greetings, I was looking for an image for the Malvasia article on Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malvasia
And I saw your tremendous pic of the grape bunches that I would love to use it in the article. However, the creative commons license that you are currently using is not on the list of wiki-friendly licenses found here
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/Free_licenses#Creative_Commons

Would you be interested in changing the license to one that could be used on the Wikipedia article?

Thanks

However, maintaining a Portal is no easy task. As a member of the WikiProject Puerto Rico, please consider helping out in one of the following tasks:

 • You can add Puerto Rico current events and news to the In the news... section as they occur.
 • You can participate in the discussion of Nominations for content nominated to Selected status.

Deletion debates of a few supercouples within the scope of Wikipedia: WikiProject Soap Operas[edit]

A few articles within the scope of Wikipedia: WikiProject Soap Operas have been nominated for deletion. But this is before we've gotten around to truly improving these particular articles. At this rate, if these articles are more so targeted because they are soap opera couple articles, I find it very off, given that these articles are a work in progress. I was hoping that you could lend your voice on this matter in their deletion debates, as I will contact all participants of Wikipedia: WikiProject Soap Operas to weigh in on this matter as well. I do not believe that getting rid of these or any supercouple articles on Wikipedia is the answer, improving them is.

So far, I know of three true supercoupe articles nominated for deletion:

Main Page[edit]

Surprise! History of Puerto Rico has been selected for presentation on the Main Page for Monday, June 18, 2007 (tomorrow!). My congratulations to all editors who helped bring this important Puerto Rican topic to FA, especially to Joelito. But don't celebrate yet. There's two important things we should do:

 1. Review the article. Since it became FA, it has received extensive edits from users, and therefore may need copy-editing and MOS-adjustments for presentation. Some users related to the Main Page-selection process have already made many edits, and we should continue their good work to make sure the article is pristine.
 2. WATCH IT!! Given the Main Page's exposure (millions view it every day), FA articles which are presented there get viewed by many people, including vandals. Please watch the page carefully, reverting vandalism as you go. I've seen Main Page articles get overwhelmed with vandalism, and since many more people keep going to it on the Main Page, we don't want them to see a vandalized article. This is a 24 hour task (as long as its presented), and requires the collaboration of the entire Puerto Rico WikiProject.

Well, gente, take pride that on June 18, Puerto Rico's history will be presented on the grandest of pages in Wikipedia. Peace! - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 10:15, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Assessment for WikiProject Puerto Rico[edit]

Hello, Charleenmerced! As you may know already, WikiProject Puerto Rico, in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, is trying to assess the quality of articles within our scope to help us focus our work on the articles who need it the most. Unfortunately, there is a backlog of more than 799 unassessed articles within our scope. I, in the name of the members of WikiProject Puerto Rico, ask you, if you have the time, to help your fellow members clean up the backlog by assessing unassessed articles and review articles already assessed to make sure they still meet the quality criteria. You can learn more about the WikiProject's article assessment program at Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Assessment.

I, personally, found assessing articles manually took too much time, so I looked around and found a script that makes assessing articles easier. If you would like the script's help, just copy the following code to your monobook.js.

// User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js
importScript('User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js');
assessmentMyTemplateCode = [""];

You can find the manual for the script at User talk:Outriggr/metadatatest.js. If you need help, please contact me. Thank you for your time. I hope you can find the time to help. This message has been automatically delivered to all WikiProject Puerto Rico participants using AWB. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 17:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Latin American writers[edit]

Oh thanks for the thanks. I happened to be browsing earlier and came across it. He looks quite distinctive and it helps. There some good articles on Latin American writers but I'd like to start seeing some more articles on not specifically Cuban but South American literature. There must be thousands of potential articles. I have been adding the List of Argentine films which was hardly covered before and still needs an immense amount of work to cover it. My input on the articles that you wanted me to look over[edit]

Hello, Charleenmerced. I love that you're fixing these soap opera character articles up in great change. I mean, seriously, it's great to have another editor here at Wikipedia adding real-world information to these soap opera character articles or cultural impact information to them...or both. I certainly wasn't going to leave you hanging, as in not responding to your request. It irks me when an editor doesn't respond to me after I leave an inquiry on their talk page, and I certainly wasn't going to do that to you. Out of the four articles you presented me with for my assessment, Kate Howard is the best, as I'm certain that you know. The advice I give to you on this article is if you can find significant details on the writing of this character, then create a writing section within the Background section of this article. If you cannot find any significant details on the writing of this character, then, of course, don't bother with that. Also, if you can find any interviews on the actress who portrays this character giving her thoughts about this character, then that needs to go into the Background section of this article as well...under the title of Actress' approach to the character. Or something similar to that. If it's just the actress commenting on a certain storyline (or storylines) that (don't) doesn't really have anything or much to do with how she approached/approaches this role, then that would be better to go in a section titled A portrayer's thoughts (well, something similar to that, anyway). And expand the lead of this article, if you can as well, with a little detail stating who created this character, and what year she was created, as well as what she is notable for (within popular culture or even just the specific General Hospital audience).

As for the other three articles -- Lulu Spencer, Alexis Davis, Amelia Joffe -- what stands out to me first about them, is that some of the headings within these three articles need to be formatted correctly, according to Wikipedia policy. Headings within an article on Wikipedia shouldn't be capitalized all the way through, of course, unless it's an official name...like New York City. So be on the look-out for any IP address editors changing a section in a soap opera character article titled Family and relationships to Family & Relationships, because when they do that, it's definitely wrong. With adding real-world context to these three articles, go about that in the similar manner you are doing with the Kate Howard article, of course. I'll see you around. I don't understand the copyright tags on this image. The image page claims it is used with permission, but also claims there is a free license. Do you have a record of the permissions release? — Carl (CBM · talk) —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 19:54, August 26, 2007 (UTC).

That's great. If you don't mind, forward the email to permissions-en@wikipedia.org and tell them the filename of this image. They'll handle the rest, and I'm sure someone there can speak Spanish; it's an international encyclopedia after all. — Carl (CBM · talk) 20:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Héctor Lavoe[edit]

Hey, I noticed you are a member of WP:LOCE, me and a fellow Puerto Rican user have been working with Héctor Lavoe for the last three moths and recently nominated it a the WP:FAC page, I added it to Loce's proofheading page but there is a huge backlog in there, if you have some time available could you please take a look at it and fix any grammar material that may need fixes? thanks for your time. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:18, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure feel free to re-assess as you like, this where assessed by my standards which figure that we need to focus on the Municipalities, historic events or figures and Governors but if you feel that they are of "Mid" importance I won't revert it, I did this to eliminate the now-non existent 900 unassessed page backlog. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soap Edits.[edit]

While not a member of the "WikiProject" thing for soap operas, I tried to expand Lila Quartermaine's article a bit. Seems she's EXTREMELY hard to find information on. When you get a chance, I'd like you to go over it and see if it looks ok for now. I am still trying to find more info, but it's tedious. Just a note to let you know. Apologies to everyone for this notification being sent out so late, events in real life prevented me from distributing it at the time, and the Wine Project's had a bit of a lull during the Northern Hemsiphere summer. But as the nights draw in, activity should pick up again, and hopefully the next Newsletter will arrive a little more quickly....

The next few weeks are the perfect time to take photos of grapes in the Northern Hemisphere - get your cameras out! FlagSteward 16:03, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as you're a participant in WikiProject Puerto Rico, I wish to invite you to participate in the survey at Talk:Benicio Del Toro on whether the article on Benicio del Toro should be moved from Benicio Del Toro to Benicio del Toro. Timeineurope 15:08, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tribute to "the Marine"

I would like to pay a small tribute in this edition to Tony "the Marine". Editing since May 24, 2004, he has been one of our project's most active editors and has become one of Wikipedia's most recognized writers. He has authored over 400 articles, including 4 Featured Articles, 1 Featured List, 10 Good Articles, and 28 DYKs. His name has appeared in newspapers and magazines and has been mentioned by politicians and artists. He has brought Puerto Rico's history and its people to the web. He has shown the world that Puerto Ricans have done much more than just be gangsters and drug dealers. He has shown the world that we have contributed to history and the world just as much as any other group of people.

On September 29, 2007, Tony announced that we would not be writing for Wikipedia anymore. We, the members of this project, are sad that he will not be able to continue to spread the word of Hispanics' contributions here on the web, but I, for one, feel honored that he has entrusted us with the duty of continuing and improving his excellent work.

Tony, rest assured that your contributions, your wisdom, and the help you provided to all of us when we were new users will be remembered for generations. Que Dios te bendiga, Tony, y que tu recompensa sea grande en el Reino de los Cielos.

Viva Puerto Rico libre. —Agüeybaná 16:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soap articles FYI[edit]

The relationships are not being REmoved, just moved into the new Soap Character Infoboxes. This was a decision made by those participating in the Soap Project (see my user page for a link). Just wanted you to know that's why it was removed before and then again. The "Friends and enemies" sections are being allowed though, but I didn't put it back on the Maxie Jones article based on your comments. IrishLass0128 17:24, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Olga nolla.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Olga nolla.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:49, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soap articles[edit]

Just an FYI, if you look at almost all the other "character" articles, the do not include references to their portrayer's opinions of the character unless they are highly controversial. Those go on the actress page. The character articles are a present tense article about the character. Some of the couples' pages do have references to outside sources, but that's the exception. You've done a lot of great work on the Kate Howard article, but it's actually too much and will downgrade the article. I know that's a contradiction, but it's how the soap articles are done. Look around at the other articles. You have way too many references for a soap character that's been on less than a year and the article is far, far too cluttered. It doesn't look like a soap article and we are working on uniformity. A good example of this point is Luke Spencer a character on for 25 plus years with no references to his portrayer's thoughts. IrishLass 18:33, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I had wanted this on the project page, I would have put it there. Nice to know working with you means not working with a pleasant or considerate person. Put quite simply, your actions are a serious violation in trust. I'll not be inclined to help you again. IrishLass 21:13, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This I'll add before I go home for the night ~ it is very disappointing that when I merely offered help, you had to go public and attempt to embarrass me. I put out honest help and you slapped my hand for it. That is something I'll likely never understand. IrishLass 21:28, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I over reacted[edit]

Having spent the better part of yesterday dealing with a vandal, a sockpuppet, and a repeated reverter, I over reacted. It is my opinion that although the talk pages are public, they are also one on one conversations that others can join. When putting things on the soap project page, without a cursory note of "hey, let's talk about this with everyone" the feeling is one of a violated trust. I see that you did not mean that but having something that I commented about in a small section put out calling for everyone's attention was very difficult for me. I say things on talk pages because that's where I feel comfortable. I see it was a misunderstanding, but please, take into account things said on talk pages are generally put there in a spirit of trust. Just my feelings. Take them as you will. Sorry I reacted as I did. IrishLass 21:43, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:IUP[edit]

Your violation of WP:IUP and of the image's license on Katherine Heigl has been reverted. --Yamla (talk) 15:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, Wikipedia is not just a place where you can just slap on copyrighted images. Because it is under a free license, all copyrighted pictures must have a fair use rationale justifying why they should be in an article. Try looking at WP:FURG if you'd like help in putting in a fair-use rationale, but articles whose subjects have free images should not have copyrighted images. bibliomaniac15 01:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to have uploaded an image to put a fair-use rationale on it. Since it's copyrighted, it needs one for the article(s) it appears on. That's where the violation arose. bibliomaniac15 02:07, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm being sort of confusing. I meant the image that you added to Katherine Heigl, Image:ROSWELL S1 E04 WAITRESS.JPG, and that Yamla reverted. He reverted it because it was copyrighted and because there was a disputed fair-use tag on it. bibliomaniac15 02:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I updated the Portal:Wine and made some additions and alterations to it. I've also put it up for peer review before putting it up for a featured portal. On a side not, MySpace did a locater through all of my e-mails for members and as you and I have e-mailed before yours came up and I added you. The screen name is the same as my signature here, Chef Christopher Allen Tanner (without the CCC). I was wondering about your note on the pip's discussion page. I thought the PR parties needed a re-vamping but the only reliable website I was able to find is the pip one, and the other two major one's don't seem to have reliable/consistent official info on the web (I mean, those of the pdp and pnp, at least). Have you heard what happened to that site, it seems very serious and relatively trustworthy and it cuold help provide sourcres that explain official positions. It doesn not seem to have been posted beyond PR sites and other sites relating to Social Democracy, articles relating to politics or political subjugation. Did you get a reply?

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Epiaf.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 09:21, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos to all, I present to you the new version of our project's Newsletter. It has been almost a year since the last edition, but rest assured that we haven't been lazy. Our Good Article count has raised by 11, while we have produced two Featured Lists and two Featured Articles. I will tweak the delivery format, from now on the Newsletter will be delivered per season. That means four anual editions, one for summer, fall, winter and spring. Speaking of summer, it has been a hot one, make sure to check out the project news below. I will also introduce a new section titled "Puerto Rican Highlight" where we will comment about positive accomplishments reached by Puerto Ricans and our representative organizations. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:17, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the motd templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ccnd.GIF)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ccnd.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:01, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The WikiProject Puerto Rico Newsletter Year III - Issue 1 - Fall & Winter 2008-09[edit]

The WikiProject Puerto Rico Newsletter
Year III - Issue 1 - Fall & Winter 2008-09

"Yo exigí que se tocara La Borinqueña." - José Torres to Rafael Bracero, discussing the preparations for his championship fight against Willie Pastrano.

From the editor

Hello, Charleenmerced. This is the sixth issue of WikiProject Puerto Rico's newsletter. The newsletter is intended to help all members to keep up with the latest news relating to the project. Continuing our new format, this issue will discuss the news, achievements and other incidences relevant to our project between fall and winter. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flags and records

Greetings, during the past months, there has been a lot of activity and active discussion surrounding articles within our scope. Of particular interest is one that took place in Flag of Puerto Rico, in which several project members exposed their points of view regarding the tones of our flag. Ultimately, research brought forth a severe loophole in the regulation employed by the Senate of Puerto Rico. Our flag doesn't have official tones! Attempting to prevent future conflicts, I presented a proposal in the project's talk page. The subsequent discussion served as an perfect example of consensus. Thanks to everyone for your participation. In other news, our friend Tony the Marine added another impressive achievement to his brilliant resume. On December 8, 2008, his DYK hook for Ivan Castro (soldier) broke the previous all-time record for more views, receiving 71,300 visits. Tony has also been actively cooperating with this Newsletter, the inclusion of a new "Did you Know?" section, was entirely his idea. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Hornbook -- a new law-related task force for the J.D. curriculum[edit]

Hi Charleenmerced,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

 • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
 • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or anchors in Wikipedia (example).
 • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
 • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, User Hornbook to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Important Wine Project discussion needs input![edit]

Hello, the Wine Project is currently in the process of hammering out a proposed policy relating to Wikipedia:Notability (wine topics). As Wikipedia and its wine coverage continues to grow, the need for a clear, concise guideline on how Wikipedia's notability policies such as WP:CORP, WP:SIGCOV and WP:NOTE relate to wine articles has emerged. Please review the proposed policy and take part in the talk page discussion Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(wine_topics)#Ready_to_go_live.3F. All input and view points are welcomed. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Charleenmerced! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 942 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

 1. Janice Olivencia - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
 2. Tommy Torres - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Fair use rationale for File:Colegio-big-1- (2).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Colegio-big-1- (2).jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:58, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014[edit]

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:30, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Tess Harding has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NFICTION/WP:GNG/WP:PLOT. Non-notable fictional character

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
