Ryan Idol[edit]

No problem at all contacting me through my talk page, that's what it's there for. Regarding your edits to Ryan Idol, there are a number of reasons why they're problematic. First and least, you're not using proper coding to link various Wikipedia articles to the Idol article. To make a wiklink, use double brackets around the word to whose article you're linking: [[Pelvis]] to link to Pelvis. However, some of the things you're wanting to link, like pelvis for instance, probably don't need to be linked through that particular article.

There are issues with the tone of the writing. Wikipedia editors should strive to write in an encyclopedic tone. Including phrases like "Wikipedia is about the truth" and "read the news articles" are not up to that tone. The phrase "Videography Gay" as a section break is just awkwardly phrased and since the first sentence mentions that he appeared in gay pornography isn't really necessary. Believe me, I have no objection to the use of the word "gay" in the article or in any other Wiipedia article. Nor do I have an issue with articles about porn stars as you can see from my work on Casey Donovan (porn star).

These are minor points. The major issue with these edits is that they implicate the policy regarding Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons (abbreviated WP:BLP). That is a cornerstone policy of Wikipedia and I strongly encourage you to read it. To copy the nutshell version: Wikipedia articles can affect real people's lives. This gives us an ethical and legal responsibility. Biographical material must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality and avoiding original research, particularly if it is contentious. Those links are to other cornerstone Wikipedia policies and I encourage you to read those as well. A related guideline is Wikipedia:Reliable sources. It is very important, when writing about living people, that the sourcing for any material be reliable. Your additions to the article are that Idol was a prostitute and you're sourcing that with a link to a story on a website without a known reputation for fact-checking and a story that attributes Idol's alleged activities as a prostitute to an anonymous source whose own recollection is less than solid ("The fee was, if I remember..."). This source does not meet reliability guidelines. You're also asserting that Idol gave several interviews in which he said that he attempted suicide but offer no source for that assertion at all. This material must be removed from the article under WP:BLP.

If you are in fact Jeff Stryker and not simply using the name (forgive me for doubting but I just has a run-in with an editor claiming to be Peter Stickles), then there may be conflict of interest issues with your editing the article for a fellow porn star. This is not an absolute barrier to your editing it but it is something to consider.

Thanks for your message, by no means am I trying to break the rules but as you can see on my page Jeff Stryker (yes I am Jeff Stryker) someone had used the Gay as description for my movies as well as heterosexual for some, etc. I did not add the pelvis part on the Ryan Idol page but I feel like my page isn't all flattery, the facts are there and the listings reflect things I have done and the truth.

I believe if Ryan Idol is quoted in interviews that I have linked to and quotes are taken from those interviews then they can be listed as facts. To not attribute the name ryan Idol with the Gay Movies he has done is strange. I do not believe nor did I see listed the one heterosexual movie he claims to have made, I don't believe there is one. If I see a page on John Wilks Booth I would expect to see that he was a killer and killed a president. Again, there are things on my page that I may not be proud of but the facts of life and what I have done are not to be hidden just because I am uncomfortable with them. Please look over my page and if his usage of the word gay is not appropriate them by all means please remove the usage on my page as well. I am known for my work in gay movies and in straight movies and many other things, I deny none of them and I believe I should have them listed as they are, a fact is a fact. I dont believe the facts should be hidden in order to make someone seem glamorous or portray them as something they are not. I would hope you can understand that and I appreciate that you are trying to be flattering but people can't get notoriety for one thing and then try and alter it to appear they are famous for anything other them what they really are.

I put links to show the facts and where the quotes came from. I am sorry you considered me a spamming rather then a novice at the editing of pages and please excuse me for not responding, it wasn't until today when I saw a google link that I even know I had done anything inappropriate.

Regarding being in adult films and writing about other performers, I am human too. Does that mean I can't write about humans or refer links of factual events and stories which I did? None of what I put on his page were words from my own mouth, they were quotes from stories, articles, books, I referred to.

Thanks and I appreciate you getting back t me regarding this. maybe a 3rd party can help if this is a issue of content or the links I placed are incorrect? If my writing is not properly done, editing that would be greatly appreciated but deleting it is not fair to the reading public who look to wikipedia for facts not fiction. OOppss sorry there is direct reference to interviews where he claimed to have committed suicide (attempted) in te link I sent. david forest his former agent wrote a book about his escort service and named Ryan in it and referred to the 700 a hour. The prostitute references are valid and linked to a valid page, it is no other reason then valid information that shouldn't be hidden just to protect someones reputation, had I engaged in such activity I would own up to it. I have done movies, I am most noted for not ever escorting. Like I had mentioned, none of the words or references I listed were from myself, they are from reliable interviews and magazine sources all listed on that same link. I've taken the liberty of relocating your comments so that they follow mine for purposes of the flow of the discussion. To place any future comments in the same section as these, simply click on the EDIT link that's on the same line and to the far right of the section header "Ryan Idol" above. I've also indented your comments, which you can do in future by putting colons next to the opening word of each paragraph of your comment. Look at the last comment entered and do one more colon (so for instance the next response would have three colons :::*).

The material you've been entering in the Ryan Idol article is not appropriately sourced. Your first [1] involved adding an asserion that Idol was using cocaine and attempted suicide and was sourced with a message board post. The escort assertion is in that edit possibly reasonably sourced but if added would need to be in the form of an allegation. Your next edit asserted his being an escort on the basis of an anonymous quote in an unreliable source and repeated the suicide allegation with no source. Subsequent edits restored the same improperly sourced material. If you have a reliable source which quotes Idol directly about suicide attempts or cocaine use or even a reliable source that discusses it objectively and not as Internet rumors then by all means there's no issue with putting it in the article.

Just to be clear, I never suggested you were spamming the Ryan Idol article. My concern is simply that the material meet Wikipedia policies and guidelines before it's added to an article. It's not a question of whether the material is "flattering" or not. It's a question of whether the material is verifiable through reliable sources. Nor am I saying that you can't edit the Idol article. I'm only saying that the appearance of a conflict of interest suggests itself when you edit his article and it's something that you should be aware of. My hats off to you Otto, I agree, if I add anything I will check and make sure it is a reliable source. I had typed in charles peyton (into google) and saw a article with spam mentioned and wanted to make sure I wasn't being thought of as a "spammer". I agree with all counts and I appreciate your direction of the proper way to do things. You do the name Otto proud (my real brothers name is Otto) and here in the United states it is a fairly rare name (in germany not).

So thank you for being kind and considerate and I hope I have not offended you in any way.

I will do my best and if I fail, please feel free to correct my mistakes and let me know so I can avoid mistakes in the future.

Hello Otto4711 I did a little more research and discovered several articles from reliable sources like the Miami Herald in which Idol quoted in interviews stating it was a suicide attempt. Otto, I appreciate your work, you must be on a sun spark or mac because my keyboard doesn't even have the mark you use before each line. I have added some interesting stuff which I am sure your want to clean up because I can't make the edits you do. Very slick.

Anyway it is very interesting stuff with a picture of Ryan Idol and David Forest. I had no idea I was mentioned in David Forests interview, I can assure you, he was never my agent. I did however get one time 10 grand for a 3 hour dinner in a public restaurant with one of his clients in Texas. I made sure it was a public area and the deal was dinner only for 10 grand, it was a meal I couldn't pass but Agent David Forest has made it seem like something it was not. Doesn't matter to me what a pimp claims, if he had money I would sue him. But he doesn't. Strange, the guy he speaks of committed suicide. Records show I landed in Texas and was back on the plane 3 hours later, car travel included and I was driven to a restaurant and left from restaurant to airport. It was the best dinner I have ever had. I do birthday parties too. ;-)
