Welcome[edit]

New book being written for publication later in 2013, relates to a Surrey family living with the Autistic Spectrum Disorder for the last 18 years.

There is so much more to Autism than anyone really believes. It is a complex set of difficulties that makes the brain manipulate and store data in an often irrational manner. This results in the sufferer encountering huge difficulties in dealing with simple tasks we all take for granted.

Any publishers out there who are looking for a subject which is becoming more common, and want to publish a book about a true life account, then please email the author.

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or

Suggestion[edit]

I don't like to do this because you were obviously acting in good faith, but categories are strictly "indexes" on Wikipedia, so all the stuff you'd put in Category:Autism in Young Adults wasn't really appropriate. In fact you might be better off with a blog - Wikipedia isn't really the place to be talking about a book you're writing or indeed soliciting publishers, and if people feel that's why you're here then your account will get closed down pretty quickly. We're here to make an encyclopedia, full stop. I'm sure you have access to resources that could contribute to improving the articles on autism - might I suggest you head over to WikiProject Neuroscience and talk to them about what you could bring to Wikipedia? In the meantime I've put the text I cut out of the category header onto your User page, it seemed the least inappropriate place for it on Wikipedia, and I figured you might want it. Cheers. Because category pages are meant to be simple navigation aids, with no frills - it's a bit like leaving a painting in the card index of a traditional library, it's just out of place. Trust me, it's nothing personal, that's just a style thing that the Wikipedia community has decided on a long time ago. I'm not "messing" with anything just out of spite or anything like that - try reading WP:CATEGORY for more background on what the category system is meant for. Cheers. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. 2 things - the reason why was that you were trying to use a category page as some kind of article, where the point of the page was the fixed text rather than the articles in the category. That's just not what categories about - as Wikipedia:Categories are different from articles says "categories are ideally streamlined indexes that can point readers to the discussions they want". There was nothing streamlined about the page you had created. Trust me, it wasn't a personal thing as you keep insinuating, just the action of someone who has been on Wikipedia a long time and knows how these things work. To be honest I thought I was being pretty nice to you, taking the time to save the content for your user page and giving you some pointers on how things worked, a lot of people would have just blanked the category page with no explanation.
::Second point - Wikipedia is a collaborative thing, pages don't belong to anyone so it was not "your" page and noone has to ask permission to edit it. Have a read of Wikipedia:Ownership of articles - "Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone". The only bits of Wikipedia that are "yours" to do what you like with are this page and your user page, User:Chrisf989. I'll be honest, it did feel a bit weird editing another man's user page, but it was the best place for such personal content and I won't touch it again.
