Adoption request[edit]

Hello there, ChristinaMcD! I'm Netalarm and I've been around on Wikipedia for quite some time now. It appears that you've indicated that you want to be adopted on your user page. While you can wait for an adopter to come forward and offer to adopt you, I would highly recommend that you also actively seek an adopter. From the cases I've seen, I've noticed that it is often much faster if the adoptee also actively participates in the matching process.

When choosing an adopter (click here for a list), there are a few things you'll want to check. First of all, you'll want to check if they are available. The column with the label "Adoption status" will tell you if they are able to accept more adoptees. You may also want to choose an adopter that has similar interests, which are indicated in the "Interests" column, though it is not required you do so. Once you have found an adopter you want, you may message them on their talk page and ask to be adopted. If you have any questions about this process (or about Wikipedia in general), feel free to message me on my talk page.

Request for interview[edit]

Hi ChristinaMcD -

I'm a professor working with the GroupLens project at the University of Minnesota, trying to learn about how the adopt-a-user program functions so that we can hopefully develop tools and ideas that might improve it. Your user page indicates you have asked to be adopted... would you be willing to have a conversation with me so I could ask you a bunch of questions about your interactions with the adopt-a-user program? (I'd be willing to do a phone call, instant messaging, or whatever way you would best prefer to do it.) I'm hoping that as a result of having a few of these conversations with people, I'll better understand how users in general learn about the program, what their experiences are like, and so on. Let me know. Thanks! SeparateWays (talk) 19:44, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to be adopted by Addihockey10? He has offered adoption to you above. Netalarmtalk 15:15, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No response[edit]

Hello ChristinaMcD,

You previously expressed interest in being adopted; however, you have not provided correspondence to messages sent by the adoption program's members or have not indicated that you wish to stay on Wikipdia well after adoption. The Adoption program's adopters cater to the needs of adoptees, but cannot chase after potential adoptee's whose activity may be limited, due to the limited amount of adopters we have. Adoption is for those that want to stay, it is unfair for the adopters to have to teach to a user who will pack up their bags and leave after adoption or doing whatever it is they wanted to do.

Please understand our concern, but remember that if you do want to stay, you're more than welcome to join in the adoption program! Simply respond to this message indicating that you are active and I or another Adopter will get back to you shortly.

Hi![edit]

Hi there :) I'm Addihockey10. I've been around here for awhile and am happy to help you learn the ropes! One of the first things I'd like to ask you is : What do you aim to do here? Do you aim to create new articles? Do you aim to expand/improve existing articles? Do you plan on working behind the scenes? (i.e. anti-vandalism attack ) Just let me know :) I hope you'll find us a friendly environment and I welcome you to Wikipedia. Cheers! --Addihockey10e-mail 20:02, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
