(rm merge of Randall Denley content in violation of AFD consensus)
Hi Cindamuse,
I need some help understanding what you meant by putting the comment above on an edit you made at Ontario general election, 2011 (candidates). It was my understanding that the AFD decision was to merge the contents of the article about Randall Denley into the article above. Is this not right? See: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Randall Denley Ottawahitech (talk) 23:26, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- A merge was never proposed or discussed in any manner in the deletion discussion. The community consensus determined that the appropriate action is to redirect to Ontario_general_election,_2011_(candidates). A merge has never been a viable option for the subject. Please know that the deletion and redirection of the Randall Denley article is nothing personal on my behalf. Additionally, know that the administrator that closed the discussion did not arbitrarily make the decision to redirect the article on his own. He was simply closing the discussion and indicating the consensus. The community has specific guidelines to determine subjects that warrant encyclopedia articles. At this time, Denley simply doesn't meet the threshold for inclusion. If the subject wins the election and garners media attention outside of his local area of influence, restoring the article shouldn't be a problem. Let me know if you have questions. - Now I am really confused: I assumed that a "re-direct" meant a "merge" since the first participant in the AFD discussion who suggested a re-direct said this:"...the politician guideline is clear that deletion is not the preferred option in such a case; the relevant information about Mr. Denley can be included in an article about the campaign itself". I am sorry to bother you with these questions, but I don't know where else to turn. - Nah, you're not bothering me with questions at all. When the editor said, "can be included in an article about the campaign itself", there was an assumption that there was an existing article about the campaign, which is different than the candidate page that lists everybody running various election campaigns in Ontario. Since there is not an existing campaign article, the discussion could only result in a redirect. On that note, I might suggest that (if you're interested) you could actually start the campaign page and include all the candidates running for the same position for which Denley is campaigning. Hello Cindamuse, I am unsure why the page for "Stephen Magnusson" was deleted. The reason was 10:18, 28 September 2011 Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted "Stephen Magnusson" (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content)). Article For Deletion: Randall Denley(political candidate and newspaper columnist)

A while ago you intiated an AFD discussion about Randall Denley. The result of the AFD was to re-direct to a certain page at Wikipedia. However, this morning I discovered that the page is being re-directed to different page. I wrote about it here: Talk:Ontario_general_election,_2011#Randall_Denley_-_Wikipedia_procedures_not_being_followed.3F and wonder if you could weigh in on the discussion that is not attracting a lot of participants.

- The CSD was not an A7 regarding the GNG, but a G12 copyright violation. The entire article is a verbatim copyright violation. To remove the "problem text" would result in an empty page. I would request that you take another look at this article in accordance with the deletion policy, which requires speedy deletion of blatant, whole-page copyright violation. Ball State Digital Literacies course: Desire Ambassadors
Hello, Cindamuse. We talked briefly last spring when my Ball State University English department course Digital Literacies was doing group projects. I was unaware of the Ambassadors before starting last year, but this year we're starting a little earlier and I wanted to line up some Ambassador contacts if possible before students began their topic searches. This semester we will have four or five groups from one section; each will be collaborating on research for a single entry. - Great news! I'll be introducing the assignment today at about 21:45 UTC (you're invited to "drop in" via chat, or perhaps we could get together real time at a later point). Students will begin choosing topics next Thursday Oct 13. I took the time to completely rewrite the information that was previously in the article. There is no plagiarism in these sections now whatsoever. Matt Hader entry.
Hi Cindy,
I hope this finds you well. I'm writing regarding the entry for Matt Hader, a screenwriter and novelist friend of mine. I've been helping him edit his entry so that it will comply with Wikipedia's requirements. Apparently, his entry is slated for deletion (again!), and I'm wondering what we can do to make it valid.
Matt's actually quite well known among the screenwriting community. Unfortunately, the screenwriting community, though tight knit, is rather insular, so the general public is rather ignorant of screenwriters. It'd be nice if we could get more entries on Wikipedia devoted to screenwriters.
In addition to the screenplays Matt's written and the movies he's produced, Matt has served on panels at numerous film festivals, he's met and interacted with numerous celebrities (e.g., Sting; I can forward you a picture of Matt with him if you'd like), and he's authored numerous articles in magazines, and on websites, devoted to screenwriting and film.
If I were to add more links to external websites that corroborate the content of his entry, would that be sufficient to enable his entry to remain? If you would let me know what specifically is needed to render his entry sufficient for Wikipedia's requirements, I'd be very grateful (and I know Matt would, too!). Thank you for your time, Cindy.

- Hi Todd! As a whole, Wikipedia is not opposed to adding articles about screenwriters at all! The more the merrier. That said, there is a threshold for inclusion which requires establishing notability through the presentation of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the coverage. There are also topical notability guidelines, that help assist editors in determining possible notability. Essentially, if screenwriters meet the threshold for authors or entertainers, they are likely to be notable, meaning that it is likely that significant, reliable and independent sourcing can be found. It's not enough to claim notability according to topical notability guidelines; each claim must be verified through significant, reliable, and independent sources. In the Matt Hader article, none of the sources meet this requirement. Your best course of action would be to locate appropriate sources. Please note that IMDb and press releases cannot be used to establish notability. I would recommend contacting the administrator who deleted the article, Fastily, and ask him to "userfy" the article to your subpage at User:Creativenew/Ephesus Foundation. Ask him the same questions about why it is promotional. Once you have the article in your subpage, don't hesitate to contact me again. - Hi Shreya! Right now, the article needs quite a bit more referencing to support information in the lead, Career, and Awards sections. I'm not sure what is going on with the citations in the Filmography section. The citations are floating at the top of the section, but there's no indication why they are there. Check out WP:INCITE and make sure to attach citations to the content that it directly supports. Keep working on the referencing. Mentorship and where to work
So there is an article list for my class now. There are 62 articles that my students will be working on in groups of 1-5. Now I'm still grading their last assignment to add a sourced sentence to an article and review the sentences of two other students, but my spot-checking shows that they have trampled a lot of articles. I'm going to try to fix the problems as I go. So that's why it is my plan to have students work in Sandbox on their improvements and later move anything appropriate into the main space. Does that sound like a good plan? There are a handful of red links in the table, isn't there a WP process for new article creation, perhaps those students could go through that? I also thought if you and the other OAs (and/or Elonka) wanted (or thought it desirable) to take a more pro-active mentor ship role it might make sense to add another column to the table and you can divide out articles to monitor, or at least check-in on occasionally. I don't know how often students have come to you for help, but they aren't really good at help-seeking behavior. --MTHarden (talk) 04:31, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

- Hey there! I've been down with the flu this past month, combined with a huge increase in my workload here, I'm just now trying to jump back in to the swing of things. Checking my talk page, I noticed I hadn't responded here. Please accept my apologies, catching up has been a bit overwhelming. Working in the sandbox is ideal. Not sure what you're thinking about as far as a WP process for new article creation. We have Wikipedia:Articles for creation and Wikipedia:Article wizard. Check those two out. Every OA works differently, so you would probably have different answers to your questions about dividing out articles. I think it is ideal, but difficult to initiate after the course has started. At this point, I will make sure to stop by and check the work of each student and remind them that we're here if they have questions. Encourage your students to contact us! FYI - party link localization, Iowa
Since you've been working with the political party class project, I thought I'd copy you on a message I put on its instructor's talk page: I'm localizing the party links in some Iowa articles so that links referring solely to the Iowa Democratic Party or to the Republican Party of Iowa actually point there instead of inappropriately pointing to Democratic Party (United States) or Republican Party (United States) as they tend to do now. My name is Dennis Adley. I am in the aforementioned class at Southern Connecticut State University. - I had the article on my watchlist because I'm an OA for the Missouri class, and I noticed SandyGeorgia's comments on the talk page. Mitch Harden just responded that it's a good problem to have, so he's OK with it; I think so long as Professor Tompkins is also OK with it the only remaining issue would be helping her class via the ambassador program.
