Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 19:32, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My sincerest apologies. I had only intended to add helpful information to a page about photo booths. The page I was posting on was called photo booth rental. On that page it talks about the old fashioned chemical photo booths (I'm a vintage photo booth enthusiast). I found it to be exceptionally vague (there were only 2 sentences pertaining to the old fashioned photo booths, which have a history dating back over 100 years). My intention at that moment, was to point out that the exterior styles of the booth have changed greatly since its origins and referenced n online source where images and explanations of the different styles could be found. I apologize if I violated any terms or conditions. This is my first time doing an edit and I think I may have posted incorrectly. I sincerely hope you'll reconsider suspension of this account. I assure you that the purpose of any edits I may contribute are strictly for informational purposes and will reference a variety of informative sources.

Hey, Max, welcome to Wikipedia! Sorry for the rough introduction, but you have to understand that we get a lot of accounts, with account names not unlike your current ones, that are only around to spam our articles with links to their own websites, for promotional purposes. I don't see any problem with your suggested change in user name, but before I decide, I'd like to point you to three policies: one is our policy on conflicts of interest, another is our policy on external links, and the last is our policy on what is (and isn't) a reliable source. The concern I have is that the URL you were trying to post (classicphotobooth.net) is the same as your username; that's usually the mark of someone with a conflict of interest, though that's not necessarily the case here. I don't expect you to memorize those three policy pages or anything (they're pretty long, after all!); if you can just stay away from adding links to classicphotobooth.net into articles, and promise to do your best to keep those three policies in mind, then that's good enough for me (after I've had a word with the admin who performed the block). Sound good? Writ Keeper 22:10, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand and do appreciate the quick response! I have no intention whatsoever of using Wikipedia for anything other than its intended purpose and will certainly keep the policies referenced in mind. I understand and respect Wikipedia's high standard for information and the associated sources. Thanks again for the reconsideration! I'll wait to hear back from you after you speak with the other user.

Okay, I've heard back, and you should be good. The first thing you need to do is go to this page to request a username change. There are instructions at the top of the page, but the short version is: click on this link. This will take you to an edit screen, with some text already loaded. Next to the CURRENT=, write in your current username (Classicphotobooth). Next to the NEW=, write your requested username (MaxS0622). Next to the REASON= write in a few words explaining why you want a change in username (probably something like "to comply with the username policy"). Make sure you don't get rid of these labels; just type next to them, rather than deleting or writing over them. Save the page, and your request will be listed. You should wait until the process completes (should be within 24 hours, though it can vary quite a bit), and remember to sign in with your new username (NOT your old one!), and you'll be good to go!
Feel free to ask me any questions that come to mind, and you can check out the Teahouse, as well, which is a place for new users to ask any questions they have about Wikipedia. Do remember to avoid linking classicphotobooth.net from articles, as well as avoiding edits that might appear promotional. If you're in doubt, the best thing to do is either ask someone or make an edit request on the talk page of the article in question. There's more information about edit requests here; you can get to the talk page of any article by clicking the "Talk" tab in the upper-left corner of the page. I'll be keeping an eye out (as will Alexf), so don't hesitate to ask any questions! Good luck, and happy editing! Writ Keeper 22:47, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
