I see you've copied and paste it on to the page, most likely this will be complained about and removed, due to the formatting. I'll work on it in my sandbox, and get it into the same format as all the other pages. The way to stop wiki code functioning is to use the <nowiki> to stop it to start it again</nowiki>. These thing don't show up on the page, if you click edit, to show everything including wiki-code things, you will see them at the beggining and end of the piece below. Philc TECI 20:13, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's come out fine below, where is the problem?
Ok, one thing is that once the tildes are converted to date and time etc. that is permanent, adding nowiki does not change it back, you have to put the nowiki things in place the first time you add the text. If you do this, it should come out fine. Philc TECI 16:12, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've spoken to the user who proposed the article for deletion, it think he did it because he didnt realise you had removed the sentences that he was concerned with. We'll see how things pan out. Philc TECI 16:21, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Claude, you're hitting all the keys to the right of the one you want. So all I'm geting is gibberish, e.g. from claude reads as gtp, v;sifr. Philc TECI 17:38, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Blue links link to another article, red links link nowhere, which means either the article hasnt been created, or that it has a slightly different name. Philc TECI 20:10, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Claude, I have removed the {{prod}} from the article. And I have extended a thank you to Philc_0780 for reminding me about assuming good faith. Again, my apologies for jumping the gun. I'll add a few more constructive and appropriate tags to the article. I'm sure it will improve over time. -- MrDolomite | Talk 19:18, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Using Images[edit]

Ok there are two steps to using images. If you want to use an image already on wikipedia somewhere, and uploading your own images.

Uploading Images[edit]

This article is more comprehensive (Wikipedia, Uploading images) but I'll give you the basics.

When uploading images it's important that you are allowed to. If you took a photo, that is yours, and you can upload it. However images you find on the internet are generally not usable, and screenshots are allowed if they contribute well to the article, with accompanying text. If you want to know the case on a specific image, just ask for help.

Top upload an image in the toolbox bar on the right hand side of the page, click Upload file, or this link:Upload. Click browse and find the image, type the name you want it to have on wikipedia, the name should be either what it is, or what it will be used for on wikipedia, but keep it short, if you have something longer to say about the image, type it in the box marked Summary (author, source URL, {{tags}}, etc.) also type in that box, anything else you know about the image, eg the things mentioned (Summary, source). And select the appropriate liscence from the click down box, most liscences are pretty self explanatory.

Once you have uploaded the image, keep a note of its name, though if you forget its name, you can always find it by looking through here special:contributions.

Preferred formats are .svg and .png whilst .bmp does not work and .jpg or .jpeg is discouraged. Other extensions, I'm not sure about.

Using images in articles[edit]

To incoparate an image into an article is quite simple. Clicking the image button on the toolbar produces this code [[File:Bad Title Example.png]] which gives this image

An image of the wikipedia example image, to show your image just type the name of the image you want use (including file extension) in between the [[Image: and the close brackets ]].

You can manipulate images in certain ways, here are some examples

  • adding |thumb before the close brackets puts a small box around the picture
    • subsequently adding | and any text puts a caption in that box
  • adding |20px before the close brackets limits the size of the image to a width of 20 pixels, change the number to whatever you want
  • adding |left or |right before the close brackets puts the image on the left or the right of the page.

here is a table of example codes and the images produced.

Image Code
[[Image:Example.jpg]]
[[File:Bad Title Example.png|150px]]
[[File:Bad Title Example.png|150px|thumb]]
[[File:Bad Title Example.png|150px|thumb|right]]
caption text
[[File:Bad Title Example.png|150px|thumb|right| caption text]]

If you have any further questions, or need some specific help, or anything in fact, just contact me and I'll be happy to help. Yes, I see you noticed my love of football, I am addicted, it consumes a lot of my free time, I live to play it. And the recent world cup, is the higlight, but also a heartbreaker as england lost out on penalties again. Hope this all helps!Philc TECI 00:42, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Globotype Message[edit]

Re: Your concerns about the message (in red) that I removed from your Globotype article:

The message was a reference to a deletion template (empty). "subst:empty template|You forgot to subst this template. Replace {{prod|reason}} with {{dated prod|concern = {{{concern|reason}}}|month = July|day = 13|year = 2006|time = 00:42}}"

I have copied ONLY the line of text that I deleted here and the template is also displayed. It was part of the deletion messages, and wasn't a reference to your jpg.--Dogfish 00:42, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS I just noticed that this may be taken as a valid proposed deletion of this page. Please delete it after you read it or I will remove it myself in a day or so...--Dogfish 00:46, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I escaped the template tags with the <nowiki> tag, which should take it off of the proposed deletion list. —C.Fred (talk) 05:04, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Fred... but now the message (in red) that he was concerned about (and would recognize) isn't displayed either. No need to put it back however... I think he's clear, if not I will show him in a sandbox when I visit him, sometime soon.--Dogfish 03:56, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hey claude[edit]

you still about? I havent heard from you in a long while. Philc TECI 10:58, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Killer Mailbox, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Talk:Postmaster. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 15:31, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Killer Mailbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --ROGER DAVIES TALK 16:45, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
