As I'm sure you know, user templates are opinions shared by several members of Wikipedia. They are templates employed on individual user pages only, and do not claim to represent the official shared position of the Wikipedia collective. Still, some self-appointed dictators feel it is their responsibility to control individual expression on user pages. Template:User-AmE-0, for example, was deleted by User:Kelly Martin; after being recreated, it was tagged for deletion by User:DreamGuy and its category removed by User:Carbonite. There are but a few people who want to control personal expression on user pages at Wikipedia and hundreds of us who do not want these few to succeed. In standing together to revert tyranny, despotism and censorship of individual expression on our personal pages, we can easily overcome these dictator-wanna-bees. Wikipedia can be for the people. Please help us oppose those in the Arbitration Committee Elections who would turn Wikipedia into a dictatorship of controlled articles and user pages: Kelly Martin, Jpgordon, Fred Bauder, James F., Jayjg, and Mindspillage.

This is an FYI. If you already know of what I'm about to mention, then this post will be worthless to you. :) I see you working at short pages cleanup. It's always great to have more people doing so. I wanted to let you know about the daily bot-parsed version of the list. It's availible at User:Zorglbot/Shortpages. Thanks for fixing that. It was not intentional to leave the page blank, but I didn't feel that the song, which was simply performed on TV once, warranted an entire article. It also contained false information when I deleted it, stating that it was the 2nd single from My December, which is completely untrue. Being that it wasn't a single or a very necessary inclusion in Wikipedia at all (not to mention that it isn't even a Kelly Clarkson song, but a cover), I thought removing the information from the article deleted the article; I'm not really familiar with wikipedia's entire workings yet. So what you stated was "removing information...without good reason," to me, had a perfectly legitimate reason. I don't need to use the sandbox to figure that out, because I wasn't just fooling around--but thanks anyway. It was simply an issue of me not knowing about the page deletion procedure (which I subsequently researched, don't worry). But thanks again, because at least the article is accurate now. Discrete choice analysis

Why did you put a "prod" template on discrete choice analysis? If a stub article is only a definition but is on a topic that can OBVIOUSLY grow FAR beyond a definition, and any reasonable account of it would REQUIRE far more than just the defintion, then it should not be deleted on the grounds that it belongs in Wiktionary. In that Claude Burton played first-class cricket (as well as Cecil) then Claude will get an article of his own in time but should be shown on the List of Yorkshire CCC players for the time being as a redlink, not redirecting to Cecil. Sharpe’s Regiment (novel)

Sharpe's Regiment has now been moved to Sharpe’s Regiment (novel) to disambiguate with the TV programme of the same name and for consistency with the remainder of the series. I removed the redirect because it was redirecting to itself (unless I've missed something distinguishing between two otherwise identical pages). I'm not quite sure how to go about safely having the redirect page deleted without jeopardizing the main article page. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers. That would constitute original research. Provide links to articles where people involved with the production/marketing confirm that the sites are involved, and they can be included. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this stuff out. How obvious does it need to be? Viral marketing is the way it is to be intentionally vague. Either adapt to the environment or you're going to miss a big piece of the puzzle.

Almost always does not imply always. Therefore, looking at the facts that we do have (registered emails, links to other confirmed sites, etc), all it takes is a little common sense to put everything together. Do you really think someone faked a video for the movie using one of the actual actresses from the movie? Not likely.

1-18-08 is linked because the connection is pretty obvious. Well, the same can be said for the sites I listed.

Vandalism on Portarlington, Victoria

I think the vandal may have self reverted his vandalism; at least the vandalism since my last edit. See here for a diff. All I really wanted to do was delete my user page history (by which they could trace material I've removed, such as my picture). Can the history be removed? If not, can it be archived? Archive page

Could you explain why you feel that the archive page that you place the speedy delete on should be deleted, or what is wrong with the page? See: National_Civilian_Community_Corps/Archive_3 Dbiel ^(Talk) 07:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

It's a page in the main namespace that has been (according to its history) blanked by its original author. In other words, WP:CSD#G7 --Closedmouth 13:18, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

It is actually an archive talk page that use to be a sub page in article name space. I am still trying to figure out the difference between a talk page archive (that has a link to an article window) which is a sub page off of the article / article talk page duo; and an article sub page that also has links to an article section and a talk section. The page was deleted and then the talk / discussion page protion was restored Talk:National_Civilian_Community_Corps/Archive_3 , so this page is no longer a problem but I was wondering if you could explain the difference. The paradox; you can not delete an article page without also deleting the attached discussion page, but you can restore the discussion page without restoring the article page. Thanks for the additional information. The remaining question is the link to an article page that is always a part of a talk page archive. Clicking on the link will create a new article sub page, but there seems to be some unwritten rule about not using the associated article page that is linked to the archived talk page. Your message on my talk page

You left a rather unfriendly toned message on my talk page asking me to stop blanking redirect page David Wolfe (Vegan) but you may not have checked my contribution history to see what was going on. As of yesterday, all wiki-links to any "David Wolfe" went to this person, who also had a very advertising oriented article. I created the first redirect for the vegan using a capital letter and then created a disambiguation page - David Wolfe. When I realized that the wiki standard for article descriptors is lower case, I created a new redirect for David Wolfe (vegan). Because the link I created earlier with the capital letter didn't have any links, I blanked it. I also spent considerable time sorting out the other David Wolfe links to specific people (with other suggested redirects), created a stub for David Wolfe (actor) and did my best to clean up the vegan's promotional article. I've been editing for less than two months and am still learning. I don't know how to get an unnecessary, duplicative redirect page deleted - perhaps it's not even an issue.

I've noticed that some of the more experienced editors can be condescending toward us newbies and I'd like to suggest a friendlier, more helpful (instructional) approach when you see that someone appears to be trying to contribute in good faith as I think my history shows. Actually, creating that dummy redirect didn't work like I thought it would, and I resorted to cutting and pasting the whole text into the new title (the redirect page), which you're not supposed to do because it wipes out the history. Amrik Bhatia

Just curious - what exactly happened with the Amrik Bhatia page? Did someone vandalize it and you submit for speedy deletion the vandalized version? That would seem to be what happened according to the page history, but you would know better than me. Eitherway, don't worry - these mistakes are easy to make when you're faced with vandal after vandal to revert - heck, I've had articles deleted on people frighteningly more notable whose articles I've created based upon a vandalized version of the page.

The best thing in the world about Twinkle is that it is so good that what it is capable of doing scares you when you accidentally do what you don't want to. As it is, the only thing that changed in the diff here was the title of the article, and no actual page content as would be assumed if you read the edit summary and were just passing through - while he claimed to add more information, all he did was move the page.

Thankfully the editor seems to have stopped, but one further contribution he has made is to the rather confusing Template:Infobox The Serial Hacker. Maybe this is supposed to mean something I can't put my finger on - but it's hard to tell.

You deleted my entries on the Cloverfield page because I "did not cite my sources". Listen. I cited them in the text itself! Let's go back to what I added to the Plot Speculation section of said film.

"Another very popular speculation of the film is that it is a film based on the "Rampage" video games. There are several clues that support this. "Slusho" is a very important part of the marketing campaign for the film. In the Rampage games when a human drinks "Slusho" they turn into a giant monster. On the film's viral marketing site, www. slusho.jp, the "creator" of Slusho writes about making the drink and now, whenever they drink it, they become "a giant whale".

See that? slusho.jp - sounds like a reliable source to me being that IT'S THE MARKETING CITE FOR THE MOVIE!!

Also, I have played the Rampage games and, as everyone else who has played them, I know that Slusho is something that the characters can drink in order to become the monsters!!

PLUS - The section was on Plot SPECULATION - not PLOT, so reliable sources should not be needed in the first place since SPECULATION is a matter of OPINION based on clues, which I stated.

Looks like you missed the "Citing Oneself" section. Here's a good part from it: "This policy does not prohibit editors with specialist knowledge from adding their knowledge to Wikipedia, but it does prohibit them from drawing on their personal knowledge without citing their sources." Slusho.jp was cited as the source and a reliable one at that since it is the film's marketing site. Here's another good section: "the editor may cite that source while writing in the third person."
